@@ailsaustraliaes we were waiting 491 to be granted for 2 years during Covid pandemic. We could’ve been able to apply 191 this year, instead, we have to wait at least another 1.5 year. It is not fair at all. It affects our job opportunities and life decisions, we can’t afford to buy a house under 491 as we are still a foreign resident in Australia and we don’t have any support for buying a house.

That's me. I decided to contribute extra into my super last July (to ensure my eventual retirement will be better). Turns out, I came very close to the current TSMIT. I'm still above but this is a good example. I don't even bother with the other tax deductions I'm perfectly able to apply for but in doing so, I'll be under the minimum threshold

Maddie 190 visa holders can already move states and there are no reasons you have to give to move

But if you think about it, if employer is already exploiting those workers, they can exploit them further by denying their 186 visa nomination request. It’s better to cut the loss and find a better employer to guarantee a safer 186 than tolerating unwanted and exploitive work conditions.

@@ailsaustralia my visa didn't get approved yet, I just got my nomination approved and sent visa application, but yes currently the rules are the same as the medium long term 482, 3 years before applying for 186.

Looks like there’s more to meet the eye, and government has a lot to do to close those loopholes to make system fairer to everyone. If employer really is a bully, they will exploit unless criminal charges are on the line, even more so if they hold PR visa (which can be cancelled just like any other visa).

Yes this JRP needs to be examined for it failing the system and creating outcomes like yours RP. Perhaps you would like to come on the show to talk about it?

Congrats!! I'm going to apply for that one too, regional QLD. How long were the waiting periods for you aprox? Between EOI, and invitation and nomination? I am a little bit against the clock as I have a year to be invited before turning 45 years old 😥

@@margaritasaloscerdos5 Thanks! I followed the Pathway 1B (RDA) NSW (there is no the Invitation to Apply step, you have to upload the documents for consideration). I submitted my EOI on 23/05/2023 and sent the documents the same day. They notified me about the nomination on 8/06/2023.

Yes I know about that pathway, I had the 65 minimum points to apply for that one, and one year to get it, so I was recommended to move to QLD and try to get the 15 points plus for state nomination. I hope my waiting periods are similar or no more than 3 months! As soon as I have my skills assessment ready, I will go for it! Thank you so much for the info and enjoy NSW! 🤩🤩

Might be easier for you to go for permanent residency and then apply for a spouse visa for your husband. Rather both struggle to survive in Australia during visa processing. It will work out cheaper in the long run. Visa may work out better for you than him. one of you may have to go back home. Longer waiting times more cost in the long run. Both of you have to meet the requirements needed makes it harder. And can take years if you have a difficult migration agent in charge of your case If it's just you do your best to get permanent residents it be easier for your partner to come here on a spouse visa once you're a permanent resident Immigration is the biggest money milking system in Australia. My neighbour cost him and his wife more than 95.000 dollars and 7 years of hardship going through visa processing in Australia before they finally got a chance to become permanent residents. Including suffering his wife not getting any government payment assistance when she got pregnant and stayed home for 2 years. While her husband was in and out of different jobs. It isn't easy. I sacrifice 4 weeks of my holiday pay for him so he can be beside his wife when she gave birth. They was from India and I'm British Australian. If you bring your husband here on a spouse visa after 2 years he be entitled to full government benefits you wont have to struggle if one of you lose your job. Even if your working and have children you entitled to family tax benefits. This an entitlement for all citizens and permanent residents You won't get that going through all other visas. It's very difficult and longer don't do things the hard way. It's much harder for two people than it is one
