Great that you showed these combinations running along average looking roads and roundabouts. I was a Class 1 driver in the UK (single trailer) before emigrating down under over 10 years ago and getting my MC licence (road train). There is a ridiculous myth that these combinations simply couldn't operate in the UK due to allegedly having much smaller roads than Australia. However, most main roads in the UK and certainly the motorway networks are as good as anything in Australia and wouldn't have a problem with handling at least B Double combinations. I remain completely baffled as to why they have never been legislated for use on UK Roads, even if restricted to higher class of roads.
Thx a million Grumpy for "taking us along" on yer adventures abroad truck spotting! I too love trucks and all things that burn fuel and ESP big Aussie bangers! I am dying to go! Cheers from Santa Cruz Ca and next time yer out west I sure hope I can meet ya! Cheers my man! GREAT CONTENT!!
We do love our cab-overs! Ive never actually driven a conventional truck... It would be weird having a bonnet (hood) sticking out in front 😂😂 Weve got some interesting combinations down here now as you have shown here
@@TheGrumpyPete we're all about squeezing every last bit of productivity out of our rigs 😂 keep an eye out for a big 4 axle single with 33 (yes an odd number) of pallets.. the back pallet is in the centre so the rear of the trailer stays within the law when turning 🤯
@@TheGrumpyPete I believe first and fourth both steer.. there's only 2 of them to my knowledge. And yeah the Hume is a great place to see all sorts of trucks.. I'll be headed up that way tomorrow..
As I was typing…😠the abc designation was meant for the way the second or third trailer was coupled. A, ethical a dolly/ converter, b, trailers that had a fifth wheel on the back of the frame the secondary trailer coupled to, and c was for a dolly that didn’t pivot at the connection,
A truck with two trailers is called a B double, B being the second letter of the alphabet. To call a truck with three trailers a B triple is stupid. Common sense would dictate they be called a C triple.
