Australian Metalhead's FIRST reaction to Deafheaven - Black Brick (Song review/Reaction) 

Vocals are so killer in this one! Hope for more material like this although I really like stuff “Sunbather”.

With the amount of changes in the song, it reminds me of the logic the band had during, “New Bermuda.” That happens to be my fav release so far overall. I’m an old ass guy in my 40s and listen to raw black metal made in a basement with a tape recorder all the way to slipknot. Deafheaven has married the mainstream and underground worlds so well, which is polarizing to both fan bases. But if we played this for someone who had no idea who it was, I doubt they’d call it fake and hipster.....or maybe the raw black metal fans would because of the good production? This song has elements of 80s thrash that I love, 90s death metal, and current black metal. It’s pretty genius. Hopefully this is a direction the band takes for a full solid release. Who knows with these guys. Cool channel by the way.

This song is brutal! All the haters will say this is better than this blah blah blah but these guys are legit musicians and it’s heavier than all the other “METAL” crap coming out. Long live DEAFHEAVEN

If you want to experience something rather unique in the area of metal with prog elements and look for a bit of harsh vocals sneaking in as well while keeping this hopeless melodical theme and solid riffs then your next stop should be Constantine - The darkest grace . Its a 14 min fascinating long ride with all the good stuff prog metal has to offer composition and instrumental wise, those slowdowns and accoustic parts that adds to the song and bring new kind of energy , neat transitions with some definitely melodeath influences as well as classic heavy metal. Vocals are a bit edgy but they will grow on you, some parts are harsh but not necessary death but rather thrash. For the sake of not making a definition size word let's just call this again prog power metal 😃 Pls react to this man, it's so refreshing from a prog fan point of view at least.

This is litteraly the worst song to start reacting deafheaven because this song is totally not the style black metal that they normaly play

I’m super new to this genre of music! Can someone explain to me what 8:35-end of song would normally be called? Is this a breakdown and could you guys point me into other bands with similar takes. I fucking loved that part and replay it all the time
