Australian or Ozzie Muscle Cars of the 1970s
Rum City Rods & Customs Car Show held at Bagara Beach near Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia in 2023. This video concentrates on more Muscle Cars of the 1970s. These supercars were the pinnacle of raw power & speed of 1970s muscle cars developed for racing & completing circuits & events like the Bathurst 500.
The Bathurst 500 race distance changed several times in the 1970s:
1970: The race was 250 miles long
1971: The race was won by Allan Moffat driving a Ford XY Falcon GT-HO Phase III
1972: The race was won by John Goss driving a Ford XY Falcon GTHO Phase III
1973: The race distance was extended to 1,000 kilometers

Sorry you don’t like it, I’m afraid there was just about constant loud PA music being played at the event, music from Bruce Springsteen, Steppinwolf, The Cars etc. As this music is COPYRIGHT I found it very hard to edit, well impossible without including music. There is another video coming soon which we attended in Cairns & that will feature just atmosphere & the sound of some lovely cars like Falcon 351GT, Torana’s & a MB doing quick sprints & stop all featuring lovely engine noises. Hope you managed to enjoy it a bit with the sound OFF 😱👌Apologies again, Andrew

We are a nation of petty whingers. We'll have a whinge about someone not giving us a reason to have a whinge or if they pronounce an Aussie name correctly and don't let us demand they must say everything how we say it. Just having a whinge because there's nothing in this video I can whinge about. That's all.

@@upclosevideo Cheers mate, music didn't even bother me, was the cars I watched it for not to listen to music. Growing up as a kid in the 70's my dad always had one or two of the muscle cars of the day parked in the driveway as an everyday driver. He bought brand new a yellow LX SLR/5000 sedan and a cancelled team order A9X cacky dark metallic green sedan (4door). It was a single car team one off in the sponsors colour which a the time the dealership couldn't get rid of it because of the colour. The old man did his bargaining and drove out with it for less than a basic SLR. He had to sell it two years later because he couldn't keep it under the speed limit and was cheering because he doubled his money on it, 16k in 1981. We tracked it down a couple of years ago and found out it went to Brisbane and was written off in the mid 80's and sat at a scrapyard forgotten about buried under 20 years of forgotten car parts. It was found and fully rebuilt using as many original body panels that could be straightened and repaired back to team specs as the old man purchased it having the colour matched. In 2016 because it was a one off colour it was sold to the current owner in north Queensland for we were told "over half a $mil but less than three quarters of a $mil". I was just stoked to know it was still surviving how I remember it. His yellow SLR/5000 is still driving also but has lost value because it was made an A9X replica. You will always pick a replica because it has SKR/5000 along the bottom sill and lower doors. A9X doesn't have that, just a black or silver sill and bare doors.

No worries mate ! I grew up in Australia & after 7 years I was till called a “whinging Pommie B” 😱 it’s a term of endearment really, I know ! We did have a trip to Oz last year (hence the videos, I live in the UK) & there were some great cars & car shows going on. Many cars like the early Falcons I always had & still have a passion for. It was really a great experience seeing them again, as well as a school friend I hadn’t seen since 1975 in Bagara. Hope you liked this video anyway, even with the music ! The next one will be actuality only so plenty of loverrrrrly 351 V8s 😄
