SASR is going through a shakeup as the investigations are about to move to a new phase. Australian SOCOM has a new commanding officer and for the first time ever he's from 2 Commando. Previously every SOCOM Commander has been an SASR officer.
These clips are from a unit going under investigation for war crimes after shooting civilians. I love the SASR and all specials forces, theses guys though stain the real SASR they lost a friend in deployment which led to a single soldier committing multiple war crimes on deployment and the unit even talked about him being a lose cannon. I feel bad for the guy losing his friend but it just doesn’t justify shooting civilians. I understand the stress and pain they go through, that’s I wish there was more help we could give soldiers

@Brian Muller No you're wrong, all I could see was a badly edited video, made by some of the boys from the SASR as a promo vid, they left the killings out. I guess all you can see is a tree hugging hippy having a whinge. There is something wrong when they drive someones else’s property off a cliff and considered it cool, by the guys who made the video. I'd be pritty pissed if some foreign soldier did that to my bike, not a war crime thouht, but it does show they don't care at all for the locals.

probably because its the use of war crime footage in a "glory" montage. Yes every army has committed some sort of atrocity, But for someone to then use video footage of a war crime in a video that glorifies whats going on is kind of fucked up.

@@Knifenrazer The fields and hills in the background of the video suggest it was afghanistan, therefore it was taliban. Soldiers say he had a radio in his hand and he threw it away. Taliban members are the only ones with radios around Afghanistan. Age doesn't matter, cause if you've seen any videos like the ones iv seen of syria, there are 10-15 yr olds walking around with RPGs and ak's.

I know he is fighting age and i know radios are usually a green light. However if you read the UN investigation the SAS reported that they shot this man from 10 to 15m away as he tossed a radio. Once this footage was leaked his statement of 15m away is a lie so why would he not also lie about the radio as well?.

If one lacks self control to not shoot a unarmed, complying civilian in the head for fun, they should be tried in court just like you'd expect it of someone doing the same to your family member. The people who are unfortunate to live in war torn countries did not decide to be involved into a insurgency. The western countries are supposed to protect these civilians. Obviously I'm not naive to think the civpop did not mingle with the insurgents but there is no plausible reason to execute another human being senselessly. This behavior also put other members of the armed forces at risk, not only by turning more of the country against NATO forces instead of winning their side but whenever civilians are injured by BLUEFOR, we are responsible in taking care of them. This often resulting in the need for a MedEvac by either Army or Air Force PJ, directly exposing them to harm. I have the utmost respect for the SASR or any other unit deployed to the middle east, but we shall not defend those who taint the reputation of these operatives and I doubt that would be the interest of those who worked so hard to join their ranks. If a soldier kills innocent for the adrenaline and joy of it, what differentiates him from the taliban?

Yes I do believe soldiers should somewhat be protected from war crimes but not immune. There's a documentary called Killing Field that shed light on SASR doing war crimes in Afghanistan.

@@luxr3148 Correct there are only a few bad apples in a group but getting PID on enemy combative is still important. Calling preemptive make sense tactical but severally harms the civilian consideration of coalition troops.

Being a retired US Army when come to the SAS they’re all different flavors. If I want precision hostage rescue go to the British SAS if I want something very quiet and never to light of day. With very precise. Go to the New Zealand SAS if I want something more like my flavor my style And a damn good bunch of bloat’s that How do you say it? I hope I say it right go with the new Australian SAS they are very loud but enough dynastic to get the job done and work. Every day they I was given the opportunity to good opportunity to work with them. The SAS has a best hierarchy, across the ocean they protect their men good or bad? They are very good, corrective in-house. They stand behind them As long as they get the job done they will be protected because the camera can only see so much i been in their boots the camera can’t see what their eye sees. A lot of people will make accusations what they do but most of the time 100% is the enemy that’s doing that, now I have to give love extremely out to the SBS to all three countries if you really want something that are truly good experts with the close quarter combat and stealth believe it or not the SBS it’s very good at it. There’s a reason why they’re very secretive. These guys are diehard professionals. I got to work with them too and I’ll tell you what I’ll give my life for them in a second SAS a heartbeat I worked with the British SAS and the Australian SAS never got the opportunity to work with New Zealand but all these men are damn good people. They always know how to make me laugh even I’m not in the mood but there’s other special operations units out there that I got the opportunity to work was the best one is the Israeli IDF operations they’ve been fighting this since day one for my brother across the ocean, if you ever get the opportunity to work with these people in the IDF trust me, you will learn new tricks of the trade because these people are very good. I thought I knew my stuff they show me stuff I did not know that you can do to my brother at home and my brother across the ocean. The footage shown is from helmet cam footage taken from an investigation into admitted war crimes committed by SASR commandos. If you watch the original video that the footage is from, it will paint things in a different light. The commandos are seen destroying peoples' property, randomly killing peoples pets, along with acting like assholes to the local populace they are supposed to be "winning the hearts and minds" of. There's another video of a SASR commando murdering an unarmed man out of simple rage. Honestly, it's not badass, it's pretty sickening. How would you feel if it was your country that was being occupied and some soldier who doesn't even speak you language or understand you shot your dog or trashed your bike? How would you feel if you later found an edgy montage video worshiping the exact behavior? I've thought about joining the army here in the US, but videos like this change my mind. There's a sort of brainwashing going on here in America, where people thank veterans for "fighting for our freedom", which makes no sense in 98 percent of the time, since they are are usually doing the complete opposite in occupying foreign countries. It's so hypocritical too, most Americans here wouldn't waste a second taking up arms against a foreign invading force. Most of the people in the countries that we occupy want nothing to do with us or our fabricated reason for occupying their country, they simply want to be left alone. They don't bother plotting to infringe on out freedom, they just want to live their lives. Things like in this video create more enemies than friends

Americans have been doing so since before Australia was a country. While I don't think the men were justified in what they did that doesn't mean we should assume all the unit's soldiers are the same. Far from it.
I always forget the Aussies are probably the best for desert warfare due to being used to the extremely hot conditions. Probably why they can always perform in near top notch conditions in the heat due to be used to it?

@Johnny Sinns Even though the footage is edited, 80 percent of the footage is all over Australian TV as war crimes. One of our generals was crying on TV about the humiliation our forces brought to our country. Basically everyone in this footage are gone. We have a new SAS now New leaders, new tactics. Hopefully they shine and bring some honour back to the men.

The Australian SASR has an impeccable reputation as soldiers and humanitarians from Vietnam back to its foundations.... My thing.... Is that you can't put these guys into situations continuously that could be handled by regs..... Highly trained.... Highly strung.... They're not designed for this type of work on a daily basis.... In Vietnam they were pretty much purely reconnaissance and hardly fired a shot.... Except in defence.... In their defence... As a regiment... Not individuals.... Their bosses have misused them and many will pay a terrible price for that

Не понимаю зачем приводить пример с кулаком который прилетает в табло. Достаточно лишь включить ВПН и зайти на нужные сайты, где каждый день выкладываются видео с настоящими военными преступлениями, скинутый мотоцикл покажется вам всего лишь пустяком после пары тройки этих видео. Можно привести к примеру разные террористические группировки, которые на Ближнем Востоке буквально выкладывают видео с тем как перерезают глотки мирным гражданам, буквально снимая с них эти головы. Далеко бегать не нужно, таких подобных видео достаточно и с того же Донбасса, особенно с подбитой техникой, трупы которых передавать или нормально хоронить никто не собирается, по нормам Международного гуманитарного права.
Respect these guys alot but seen alot of bad stuff surrounding them. They got in trouble in 2007 for flying a Nazi flag in Afghanistan and recently killing that civilian.

Buddy, between November 2001 and 2014 the SASR has been on high intensity operations in Afghanistan performing hundreds of operations each year over that 13 year period. Out of the hundreds of SASR troopers that were deployed around 6 are under investigation for extra-judicial killings, and one of those killings was captured on a helmet cam that has come in to the public domain and is on RU-vid. For every one bad egg there are several hundred consummate professionals that will never gain a mention in the news, and there performance that is beyond reproach will never see the light of day. What those few did was wrong and is inexcusable, but it does not reflect the wider SASR membership. That their crimes have been made public and are known is a good thing. It is a sign of a military that is taking action rectify a problem that all military's have to deal with from time to time, without exception.
