To be fair these days lippy seems to fit the following definition: The act of being insolent, cheeky, or using disrespectful or confrontational language; engaging in verbal harassment or insults. Example: "He got lippy with the coach and was benched for the rest of the game."

That's not Australian, there's no such thing, you are simply mentioning the difference between formal and informal English, which by the way are exactly the same in the UK, Australians are descendents of British people therefore the language is exactly the same
@kaput_hodge
@kaput_hodge Год назад
are you kidding?
@yoshimidsuculturalresearch6078
Does that mean Afrikaans is just informal Dutch, or French is just informal Latin, or even that Armenian is just informal Proto-Indo-European? You ignore that what's considered 'standard' is decided politically, not how language actually works. Languages are unequaled standard because of where they seem to originate from - but, if this pluricentric language has multiple differences in grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary or even more, what inherently makes one 'true' and the rest 'aberrant' ?
