As we slowly catch up to the present time, I filmed this trucking documentary in 2012 while I was, once again, the editor of Truckin' Life magazine and this program gives a cross section of trucking in Australia a decade ago. Included in this program:
1:45 IN THE PILBARA: Filmed at the height of the resources boom before the crash in global markets, this is a story of road train operations hauling huge tonnages of iron ore to ships at Port Hedland - with a spice of romance!
6:22 RIG OF THE YEAR: The national Rig of the Year started in the 1980s but through the 90s was dropped from Truckin' Life magazine. When I got behind the wheel of the mag in 2011, the comp was started up again and the first winner was a special lady, Julie Gavin and her all-pink Western Star.
13:27 DOIN' IT TOUGH: The collapse of the hardwood timber industry brought heartbreak to timber worker who cut and hauled timber from Tasmania's forests for generations. I spent some time in Tassie with truck operators as businesses and towns were collapsing. At the time of filming, hardwood logs were still being hauled from the forests - a special report.
28:22 A BIT OF BLING: Lightening the mood a little after the trip to Tasmania we look at a blinged up piece of travelling art inspired by Optimus Prime.

53:10 A BRIDGE TOO FAR: In the main feature in this collection of trucking stories, we look at how government apathy was stalling the essential freight run from Australia's southern capitals to the northern capital of Darwin. This story features the quad road trains of Hillmans Transport. Interesting to note the government had the damaged bridge fixed within weeks of this story being published!
