Fun Fact: It's only enforced at point of sale. R18+ you had to show some ID if you looked too young. MA15+ was mostly enforced at cinemas but not video rentals. But if your parent was with you and gave permission, there's nothing they could do unless it was R18+.
I found part 1 to be better with the love story between Sara and Reece. Part 2 was better with the effects but made the Batman 1960's curse of making the T-1000 more exciting then the heroes in the film. It was stupidly uneven with that
G: General PG: Parental guidance recommended M: Recommended for mature audiences MA15+: Restricted to persons 15 and older unless accompanied by a parent or adult guardian R18+: Restricted ONLY to adults 18 and older X18+: Restricted ONLY to adults 18 and older
I watched Back to the Future 3 the other day. And the thought struck me that I never did find out what Frank thought. I genuinely want to watch that movie just to answer that question, but I have no idea what it is. I also want to watch that horror flick, whatever it is. I would also like to see a non white person renting a movie, but I guess the window is closed on that one.
That is Robert 'Freddy Krueger' Englund playing Marquis De Sade in Tobe Hooper's Night Terrors (1993). The clip is from a scene approx. 47 minutes into the film. The dialogue is slightly cut-off with him saying "-render you as criminal as I". The bad-french-accent is causing him to roll his R's a bit which is why 'render' sounds like 'rendery'. The full line is "I will render you as criminal as I - as debauched - as depraved - together - we will make the roses bloom in Sodom."
I love how these things always acted like R basically just meant "Marital Aid Cinema". Very few R rated films are porn these days, since we have, you know, porn And even then, I really doubt many people watched these films with someone else in the room. Or at least not their wives. In the longer form video of this, they even acted like it was supposed to be the "Keep your straight white marriage spicy" section of the video store, but then they cut to clips of American Psycho for the example. That is a very weird pairing of ideas
@@EsteemedReptile More that it wasn't as easy to talk about. So they couldn't just be straight forward, like, "R means it's for adults, so it's got like, sex and violence and drugs and stuff." Instead they have to be all teehee tiddlywinks about it, which makes it super weird when they cut to clips of Patrick Bateman
