Koncilia was one the best goalkeepers during that time. I miss that era when players were well masculine, soccer shoes were black with white logo and lasted 10 years with minimum care and soccer was offensive. Soccer at its best in the 70, 74, 78, 82 and 86 world cups.
@javierfranco3270 I'm a great fan of 70s-80s football, so various instead of same style of playing every game, but i can't appreciate the hard fouls every time a player goes away from his defender. Every 5 hard fouls, the referee gave 1 yellow card.. Rummenigge this game was beated too hard
I have cheered for Germany since starting watching football in 1970. But this was hard, as I lived in Vienna for 2 years in the 70:s and was a die hard Austria Wien fan. Many of the legends playing here for Austria. Great win for Austria!!

@@juanperez-lq2ig I have been to Chile as well. Winter climate of Chile is very different. On the Argentinean side of the Andes inland it is sunny and dry in winter as in Mendoza, Córdoba and Rosario. Buenos Aires is a bit different.
I remember this WC. 45 years ago it was. The game was played 33 years after WWII, 40 years after Germany annexed Austria. WWII feels very distant to me, not this world cup. I bet some of the spectators had the events of WWII in recollection watching this game.

What happened to Austria’s second goal? Missing out, apart from a brief replay, not just the best goal in that match but one of the best in the tournament is a disgrace.

It was like a local derby match and probably the peak of Austrias international performance post war. They had been involved in a couple of other high scoring games around that time 3-2 v Scotland in a euro qualifier and 4-3v England in a friendly match.
Austria's top achievement was 3rd in the world cup in Switzerland in 1954. They win against Switzerland 7:5 is still the game with most goals in world cup history Anyway, 1978 was second best.

Na minha opinião, eu vi alguns jogos da Áustria nas eliminatórias, contra a Alemanha Oriental, essas duas escolas perderam as suas características de jogo. Podem comparar, que quem assiste pela mídia esportiva e quem assistiu esses jogos dessas equipes, mesmo que pela TV em 1977. Os canelas-de-vidro, os cai-cai, os rola-bosta do "futebol moderno", nem passariam pela porta de um clube, mesmo que o mesmo falisse e fechasse as portas. Só podem assistir esses jogos, acompanhados de psicólogo, de psicoterapeuta, e de 2 adultos. Ah!, só após as duas da manhã, devido ao"alto nível de violência e cenas de atitudes de cunho anti-esportivo. Um desses jogadores diria caso fosse convidado a viajar até o futuro deles, os dias de hoje, e jogar contra alguns dos "jogadores" atuais, diria: "... parece futebol dente-de-leite..., cadê os profissionais?".
