Thanks for the video. I am trying to decide between this mic and several others for voiceover work (M930, 017 FET, etc). I have yet to try it but hope to do so soon at the Sweetwater store. Thoughts welcomed on how this mic stacks up to others.

how to best compare these to the Lewitt 540 S or 640, or the 441 Flex mic from Lewitt? Lewitt got good prices on their mics, but is this company better?! or are they so similar that one should choose one based on price? Thanks to anyone helping out to clarifying this! Is cyber week and ai am about to order one company over the other... So really appreciate some help to understand this better! 😊

Lovely high-end gear to lust after. As an electro & synthwave dweeb, there are many toys I'd buy first. I can see a single 818 would replace the need for a number of different mics if you don't record multiple sources at once. Thanks, Adam.

2 questions, is there a significant difference between these two and a TLM 102 and is the OC 18 and OC 818 different in sound?

Huge difference with the Neumann. This sounds thicker and has a different type of capsule. The 18 and 818 sound the same, different feature sets

Yep! You can use them as a stereo pair because they’re identical in that mode

Normally, and in the studio, yes, that's the way you go in over 95% of all cases, I'd say. In live situations, things can vary a bit more, but even there, cardioid is the standard for vocals. @@freeman2861

Hi, I am from Austria, and I'm very proud that this mic is from my country : ) off topic: I just watched your "old" videos about REAPER: to my ears - when I record acoustic or archtop guitars and vocals fast at home Pro tools first sounds better than cubase, garageband and Reaper (which I really love). PT sounds less harsch and more transparent, without doing any EQ or additional plugins - why is that?

@@adamsteelproducer Sry, I'm not a pro in recording - I recorded a prifessional musician with archtop guitar an a male singer in Frank Sinatra Style -no distorted guitar all clean sounds - and they said the same thing. And we are all pretty rational people in everday life. You know, there are pickups for guitar which are - from a technical point better - than old humbucker and single coil, but hey sound worse. Without character. Maybe it*s a matter of taste : )

@@adamsteelproducer Have you actually properly AB tested that though? I havent had the opportunity to AB test that properly, but for some odd reason, every daw seems to sound different. Maybe its just my mind playin tricks, but how can it be this consistent. What I am certain is how Foobar2000 doesnt sound as good as any daw. So there defo is some reason why diff software sounds different. So, why is it so out of the question that daws sound different too, even if the difference is very small.

@@adamsteelproducer Sry, I can hear the difference between different pickups (besides the technical specs) and I can here the huge difference between a kneeve digital plugin and the "real" one - so don't assume binary things are everything, or people like me are just stupid. I have ears. IMHO
