This video should go into a museum vault somewhere to be stored for future generations. It makes me feel somewhat nostalgic for something that I never experienced. Amazing.
This is pretty much how it looks like. Also no big crowd for those guys at this time. We were always a small crowd. Completely misunderstood from mega rave. They music was always in obscure rooms like early on or late on the night.
Yup and at that time people who loved this music were few and far between. And all the other techno lovers though we were pretty much crazy for loving this!!!
This is what I loved about old AE, those characteristic frenetic beats coupled with warm analogue pads, something they moved away from in the following century, but their back catalogue still sounds sounds like honey.
So glad I was at this night, brings back so many memories. The early 90's were best time for techno and electronica and this was my favourite venue in London until they turned it into a church! Big industrial lift took you down into the basement, queuing around the block to get in just served to build the excitement. Oh happy day's.
Right at the end of the video, the comment, "Man, these guys are good"... I wonder if the guy saying this realises just how prophetic his words turned out to be...
@@naoexistimos777 prophecy is not fortune-telling, prophecy is the awareness of where 'it's really at' and whats truly going on in the present! To see the inchoate seeds of future possibilites!
Gold stars to the cameraman/uploader. The sound quality is incredible for a camera mic. You've captured a very pure experience. Brought back memories of Megadogs and early Warp gigs in the North East. May the four people who gave this a thumbs down never achieve full enlightenment and shit their pants in public.
aha, but shitting ones pants in public can be a step towards enlightenment, the shame of such an incident may be just whats required to humble a prideful ego!
My favourite AE material. I wish they released a soundboard recording of this. Those were the last best years before they switched to more experimental stuff.
Sean was asked if they had a soundboard of this gig on his recent Twitch AMA stream (30/07/22) - He said they don't have a recording, but he doesn't know if anyone else associated with the venue might have one.
I would love it if Autechre released a retrospective album of live shows from their various eras showing the evolution of their live sound. For those of us not lucky enough to have seen them live.
Prodigy, X-files, 486 DX2-66, Autechre, ... // Before 96-97 Autechre were on of the world top electronic bands. They accumulated innovative spirit of that age of 90s. Time which never was before and unlikely will be sometime later.
this is the best thing ever uploaded to youtube :) This shit defined an entire genre of music. So many imitators, none come close to early Ae. Fucking genius.
***** No. Please refrain from commenting on IDM videos. You make my brain hurt. Aphex Twin(and all his aliases) towers over Autechre if not equal to them. Ae = AFX = BOC
My first thought was that this music is HEAVILY inspired by Aphex Twin...Maybe another case of "inventor" and "innovator". But this liveset is heavenly!
at time hard to digest, intriguing, a tought that inehrits from it self puts your mind to the outside, the surroundings but only when a travel inside as happen a beauty of the moment
this feels like what EBM electronic body music should be. they've come to be thought of as 'cerebral' rightly or wrongly, this is definitely for the body, allowing the mind fly free. there's magic here
I was only 5 when this happened but I remember the 90s vibe so well and damn this sums up the best of it. Wish I could have experienced this first hand.
24:00 "i reek of putrefaction!" carcass - 1988...metallers seeing the light...the next day, they're leather jackets came off replaced by warp t-shirts...classic days!!!
I can imagine. This pirate radio set from 1991 direction tells you they are good craic ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3O6R9CVGqKI.html&ab_channel=bassbytes
OMG Thanks! I was here that night...never ever thought I would experience it again any time soon. It's funny reading the comments here, I just wanna add that there is a reason Warp Records signed all the greats Ae, Aphex Twin , BOC, Black Dog (remember them?) :D edit: I was the "444th" like XD
@@djliu420 These days..Canada. I moved here in 2001. I was studying Graphic Design in Croydon when i attended this event. Feels strange replying to a 5 year old comment :p edit: if you mean in the actual vid... I'm not visible. I was near a doorway, up against a wall..rollin' ( when white doves were 15 a pop ) hahaha
A can't thank enough to someone who shot and uploaded this masterpiece. I'm pretty sure that God holded hands of Rob and Sean while they're creating this diamond. And I'm sure God holded hand of a cameraman ;)
omg 1994. the 1990s were the best for underground electronic music and this video is the best exemple I ever seen of it. beautifully insane from 12:48 to 24:05 id?
@@warpien It sounds like it contains elements of their track Lost, but a bit more upbeat and jammy given it's live ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ntMkXHwzmOM.html Listen to the whole Anti EP for more of this sound! Truly amazing!! This is gold I got to see them live in Miami in 2015 Ended up speaking to Sean for a bit after the show, so down to earth Love these dudes!!
Yes!! I was fortunate to see them live in 2005 and this was just as I remember - a dark room with little to no lighting - although quite a lot more people being 10 years later than this show here...it was one of the best shows I've been to, hands down! thank you so much for posting! :)
Saw them once towards the end of the 90s. Their sound was already much more experimental than that. I always loved their early stuff, but kept with them until the early 2000s when they left our solar system towards music you couldn’t comprehend anymore.. 😉
it's a signal to future. best ever live from early period and brilliant vesion of "djarum" track. Mastodon at dawn of an era idm. tnx for that. from russia with love.
