How does this new 2022 Smart drone by Autel compare to similarly priced options from DJI? In my first impressions video, I'll explain the main similarities and differences between the Autel Evo Lite Plus vs the DJI Mavic 2 Pro. With many of its smart features and advanced controls still not available, we will have to wait for future software updates for the complete review.

Very detailed overview! Thanks for sharing. The 4x zoom might be a bit too digital, but still looks good enough for social media I think. I'd love to see your full review when the update comes.

I looked up the price to buy an extra charger for the EVO Lite. Charger $12 Dock to charge 3 Batteries. $59 Buy 3 chargers charge 3 batteries at once, cheaper and faster.

Future firmware updates are coming. 10 bit Log I believe is coming Additional frame rates, etc etc. The white balance can already be adjusted & set in the Pro mode.

10 bit log would be perfect if that came. I’m excited to try those updates once available.

Even though the video was in auto settings, it still looked really good and pleasing. Maybe a little too sharp by default, but like you say, if they add some of those advanced video settings later, this could be a great choice.

I agree. A little too sharp and of course too punchy with the colors as well. I’m hoping we get a flat picture profile soon and then we can see what this can really do.

It would be much easier to attach batteries if you press the buttons to unclip. This Lite+ is exactly what I want. But Autel desgin still has a lot to refine. eg, size is ok but folded big, camera could hit the legs when folded up. (due to long wheelbase?) these have not thing to do with it's capability though. They'll need to incorprate Fn+wheel to zoom in out. zoom dial on screen is prone to ruin the footages.

The zoom dial would be great to have. I’m not sure how smooth it could do it though without it looking weird. I’ve never really seen a very good digital zoom. As far as the batteries, it takes a bit of getting used to, but it’s still weird in my opinion. Have you been flying Autel for a while now?

@@paulAntillYou are right. M2Z zoom dial wasn't too smooth due to lack of damping adjust as the gimble movement. The way the EVO lite battery inserts should hopefully make it secure in place when flying. connection is 90 deg around kind of wierd to put into charger. (BTW I had to return my A2S because battery sensing malfunction.) This is my 1st Autel, I like it very much, although DJI design is definitely more refined in details.

Hi Paul- Great in-depth dive from gear to flying, nice footage. I literally have a combo unit in the mail. Can the C cable reach a tablet, vs IPhone.

Hey, Ken! You will need a longer c to c cable as the included one is only long enough for a docked phone. I’m sure most generic C to C cables that are at least 2-3 feet long would work well for you.

Good review, though I think you are mistaken about the Portrait Mode - this feature (the so called "fourth axis") is on the Evo Lite gimbal/camera combo - not on the Evo Lite Plus.

Thanks for catching that. Looking at their product page (which has both models together), it was something I completely missed that it was exclusive to the Lite. Kind of confusing with the very similar name scheme and yet some key spec differences. Looking at site, I’m guessing portrait mode on the Plus is doing a fake blur effect similar to phones?
