In the latest firmware update it states "Added No Fly Zone (areas with compulsory No Fly Zones Only) This has caused quite a freak out and some are saying they can't take off but none have shown proof. Fake News???
Let's go to the airport with the Autel Evo Nano Plus for a no fly zone test and see if we can calm a few folks down a bit.

Thanks for the early morning effort. I'm a new sub. The day a few years ago when my Mavic Mini received the update grounding me in my yard, even though LAANC approval for 200' was obtained was the day I went to Best Buy and bought the EVO1. Honestly here in this area they would have been super cool if approached. I would have explained my point or reason and they would have been more interested in what I recommend more than being there with a drone I wasn’t flying.

Great video Chris it was cold as hell last night. I'am on the other side of the airport . And can fly my dji drones . But half the time I have to log out and restart the app to get connection pain in the ass some times. Ps that is the johnstown air parts guys.

I’m chalking that up to a rare experience. I have been connecting several times in different ways since then and all has been well. Not sure what happened there but I do know it doesn’t like being started in my car. Not a problem with other quads but this one doesn’t like it because I tried one other time to launch from my sunroof and it kept insisting on a compass calibration.

That’s amazing Chris. Even DJI won’t allow me to start my mini 2 directly AT my local airport, even with their restriction zone unlock program, but I can unlock the zone when I’m approximately 1/2+ miles away. I’m now a believer in the Nano! Thanks!

Do you know what happened to HUAWEI ? Just a ban and it would not wonder if Autel ends the same. I am pretty happy that dji chose a different way, and I would have bought nano plus sooner or later but not if I can get into trouble. Fines here are 250€ for such a take off at minimum and the fine goes into the city budget. Since that the police has an open eye on complains in the neighbours, follows pictures and proofs from the neighbours and investigates. false parking is a 10€ fine. Even driving 40 km / h over the limit is about the same fine.

Hi Chris! I've had occasional issues with my EVO II Pro every once in a blue moon like your issue. I would just pull out the USB Cable out of my Phone, plug it back in, and all was well. Cheers!

Chris, Great video. I am guessing and I haven't seen all the comments on your FB post either in the group. But I as I said I am guessing these people are in a NFZ and may have this issue. But here in the states it' just a warning pop up (for now). It is OUR responsibility to follow the rules. Don't fly where your not supposed to and things will be good. Glad you stressed that you were not and did not take off in an NFZ and then published this video. This shows responsible content and proving a point to others who are say otherwise. Keep up the good work. However I do wonder if this the same with the EVO series. You would think it should be.

No some are claiming it’s here in the US which is what led me here in this video. I showed my proof as close as I could get as stupid as that may be but my request to see their proof has gone to 🦗 🦗 🦗 🦗 I totally think a prompt and fly or not to fly is how it should be for every manufacturer and I get why it’s preferably forced but I don’t like it and never will. I had my Evo 2 with me in the passenger seat but figured this was enough and wasn’t going to push my luck. 😂

@@QCGUY 🦗🦗🦗 Figures. Once proven wrong they hush up. But that is proof enough that it will let you take off. A prompt is the smartest thing to do. Let us or other pilots make the decisions and if we break the rules and are caught. It's on us or those who break the rules. No one to blame but ourselves. Not saying I am willingly going break the rules. Smart not to push your luck. Even if they see this video, they see you were not planning on taking off and even mention you had no intention to. But to verify and to prove a point. No do as I say don't do as I do here.

Thanks for the video just got Evo light plus on sale for Christmas. My friend is selling his house and also a big tree has broken. He wants to do a claim and Insurance tells him that the tree was not rotten and in reality it was rotten so I’m his friend and I’m going to fly. Gets clearance from small airport there He lives near airport where I could not take off with my DJI.hope it will work!

If that wasn’t enough I wouldn’t even humor the thought of trying to show more. Wind is what it advertises and I can say that as fact because I put it in wind it shouldn’t be flown in. It does need some work were sport mode is concerned and range is great for what I’ve done. No range test yet but with cold temps it wouldn’t be a accurate test.

The RC disconnected bug is new. I had it last night after updating. You have to physically unplug the controller and plug it back in.

I live in place Camden New South Wales sometimes my DGI mini 2 Will not let me take off in my backyard yet me and my mother went for a coffee and we must’ve been 100 m away from the gates of Camden airport which is a relatively small airport yet it wouldn’t let me take off I didn’t however it wouldn’t let me fly. In my backyard where I just want to practice my flying and going around obstacles it will not let me is that because I’m in suburbia. It really annoys me because I have no intentions of sending it up in the air I just want to be 8 foot in the air and fly around my backyard get it won’t let me get 100 m away from the airport because it’s not in suburbia would let me do you have any suggestions why. I won’t receive my nano plus until probably Friday or the following Monday looking forward to it.

I’m not privy to your rules but the no fly zones are a problem unless you can get permission there. Sorry but I do hope the Nano is good to you. You should be very happy flying around your yard but keep those obstacle avoidance sensors off. 👍🏻

Hi sir I was going to buy the nano. I work in Washington DC and was going to use my drone for very limited time. I wouldn’t even go up 100 feet but with a DJI drone I was unable to even take off pass my kneecap in it automatically to sent it down would this drone fly in a no fly zone or red zone such as DC?

I don’t know it’s current firmware changes but I would think they are close to no fly zones or there already with remote id coming into play soon. I currently have 2 brand new mini drones from Hubsan and Exo which both are essentially the same manufacturer but they don’t have any no fly zones and are brand new sent to me for review that I’m putting up for sale if you’re interested. Is DJI permission required to fly in height restricted areas near airports?

Google says…..Altitude Zones are areas where you can fly only below an altitude ceiling for safety considerations. ... When flying in Warning Zones, you will merely receive a warning message about any potential hazards in the area. However, you will not be restricted from flying a drone in any manner. If I recall you will get a notification pop up that you click to simply show you were warned and you understand. Then it will allow you to fly within that altitude ceiling.

Isn't it possible that the geofencing isn't complete, so you can take off at this particular small airport, but you're blocked at others??

Absolutely! Anything is possible. It could be that it simply doesn’t work. There’s bugs and incomplete parts with this quad so yes that’s very possible. I would however like to see anyone that says it won’t fly simply just show it.

In Russia there are emitters in or near NFZs that falsify GPS signals so a drone miscalculates the position and flies away (randomly) So.. maybe arming motors and launching in the air is not a deal, the deal can be safely fly (for a while) at an altitude on or above 50 mtrs. (imho). Thanx for testing and sharing the experience. Any chance to buy EVO+ at the steal bargain price? Do U know when it can be and where (what shop) I really need a good drone. FSB "stole" mine in Moscow :) and Hubsan Zino mini pro that I bought to replace the stolen one was a very bad experience (just like in your case) so I sold it. Now I am droneless :(

I showed all the proof needed that I was at Johnstown Cambria County Airport. My B4UFLY app was not loading but I show two other apps in this video. This is a class D airspace. Prohibited! Do not fly in or attempt to fly in Class D airspace just because your drone doesn't warn you or tell you not to! Use apps like B4UFLY to check areas before you fly. Added note: This was just to show there is no restriction in place. I find it odd that someone says there are restrictions but doesn’t show anything to support that. This does not mean Autel won’t restrict us tomorrow or later down the road either so that being said chill out and fly for today and let tomorrow bring whatever it brings. I don’t live on what if’s or maybe’s and I don’t make claims like this is how it’s going to be you watch. Just chill and have some fun enjoying these new products good or bad and simply don’t buy one if you don’t like it. ✌️🧡

For the future, I have found with apple and Autel products you are better off turning the aircraft on, turning the controller on, and then connect your rc plug. Then, wait for the notification from your phone to prompt "Open with Autel Air? Sometimes when the app is open and you connect the rc, your iPhone is the problem. Good video though

Aside from whatever this issue was I have never had a issue with any of my Autel quads needing a specific sequence but that being said it’s just my experience which doesn’t mean it’s the same for all. Whatever works is all that matters ✌️

With some of my quads I can but this one doesn't like to be in the car or on the car. Magnetic interference pops up and it asks for a compass calibration and keeps repeating. I was going to and that's why towards the end you see me close the sunroof.

I don’t want it! I like snow but this one is hitting late night and I have to hit the road at 3am so I can’t shovel or plow it till later in the afternoon when I’m beat from work.

I tested this sort of thing with my old Fimi A3 - which had a NFZ file but it certainly would allow me to arm. Just to be on the safe side I left all the drone's props at home so even if I was stopped I could prove I was not going to fly :)

Oh boy do I miss my A3. Bought it shortly after my X8SE 2020 for approximately $200, I had 8 batteries (when I learned they stopped manufacturing them) a 3D printed sunshade, gimbal cover and motor covers, a beautiful REAL LEATHER custom case and parabolic + Yagi-Udo range extenders, more. A 1080P Camera that was better than the (admittedly horroble) X8 Mini fail from last year. I sold it at a profit because I wasn't flying it often enough, so found a good home for it! Only issues were the poorly lit LCD display (tried, but couldn't find an IPS replacement.) and the fact that you had no map display or low battery RTH. It was rock solid and flew like a sports car (for it's time period. Ahhh, thanks for kicking of a great set of memories! If Fimi remade the A3 with fixes to the few issues, I'd buy it in a heartbeat 💓

Why is it so eye wateringly expensive? A jailbreak / geo unlock for Mavic Mini is more and more attractive.

A look inside the drone would certainly piss off a buyer. They are so cheaply made compared to anything else they have manufactured. I would never buy this drone again.

I douno they could've made it cheaper but their manufacturing is really bad. Its a shame because that RYYB camera is special but autel just stinks

its a shame that in a no fly zone it lets you break the law . i would assume they will have to comply soon with all the new laws coming. To me it should not fly at a airport maybe a couple miles away but not in a no fly zone with out permission and a 107

@@QCGUY yup seems to be the case. But drones have come such a long way. Stay tuned just keeps getting better. I've noticed Philly drone life has been hitting the wall with his M3 lately. Issues all over the place at least his newest videos seem to indicate. Invariably he is flying in an electronic nightmare. Environment is also at times a big player. Sure would like to know if there is some sort of shielding that can be tested for interference

I lied it got to 85mph but jump in this car and give it a go if you ever have the opportunity. By the time I got to the light ahead I would have been well into 140 much before it.

As a commercial pilot you could have just called the tower and asked permission. They most likely would allow it. And you wouldn’t have broke. The law. You flew at night in restricted airspace and turned off the position lights. That’s technically 3 violations. I’m not saying I care cu you were safe about it I’m just saying they could nail you if they wanted to.

Autel is stupid but maybe they need a ban like huawei and they can only sell in third world countries. I expect they will also got issue with the EU customs cause I can remember those days when chinese makers had fake CE and those were sent back, same for specific items violating rules or specifications.The custom officer had an endless list and 2 pages before the end he said: found it, no way, it has to be sent back.
