I wish that Autel put 256gb ssd in thier machined especially with adas being a huge add on. Curtis shows this as well on how to update when full. Thanks for sharing I have the Elite and Maxi IM508 Immo key machine
Be aware that if you already have added external SD card that BMW was already installed on and want to do this procedure a few weeks or more before update expiration in order to defragment and fit BMW back on the internal drive , be sure to unmount and remove any added SD card(EXT SD card) from the slot or BMW by default will end up going on the external SD card again instead of to the internal drive like it should all fit on. After a factory reset I generally install the car Apps with the largest sized files like BMW first.

I have a question for you. do you know if is possible to set that when you want to program a car and it's downloading the programing files from the server, to download them on the external memory not on the internal memory? i am trying to program a bmw and the files are too big for the internal memory.
hello, if you reset everything without having an update contract, you cannot use your tool! and then if you buy an update after the rest, can you update your tool back?
I bought an autel elite with no software .bought the card total care and works like a charm .still new at using it..also was able to copy the scan folder with the usb cable to my laptop..my tool does not have sd card installed
When i updated my MaxiDiag Elite MD802, Mercedes Benz is no longer available. It was there for years before update. I wish i could find the first updated.
Just bought a new MS908E from AES Wave, registered the tool and tried to Backup the Scan Folder to a 32gb USB drive after I updated system to V3.65 and the Lib com.update . The copy failed and error explanation was the system forbids ES from writing on external SD card......so ES can only write on it after rooted. After removing the USB drive . I checked my internal storage space and the total space shown reads 53.15GB Available 36.15GB. Thought it might be a temporary glitch where it included the USB storage into the tally, but I shut it down and restarted My Maxi Sys Elite. This time I exited the MaxiSys App and closed it and went into ES Explorer. SD card Analyst and total size is 53.15 GB, used 17.00 GB, available 36.15GB. I'm hoping it's really upgraded storage size in this Maxi Sys Elite , but haven't heard anything yet that Autel had bumped up internal storage from 32 GB. The battery in this is 15400mah , Android 4.4.4
With the newest update from Autel you can also now add a Micro SD card to the tool and transfer brands to that Micro SC card and free up lots of memory.
Problem is the next large update that comes out , you'll be at square one again and may need to do another factory reset. This is Autel's solution. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_ufpKMi1OHw.html I do think several weeks before the update period is over, doing a factory reset to clean out the fragmented files and getting everything to fit with a clean fresh reinstallation of everything on the internal drive (after removing the external SD card) would make the tool faster and more stable , and allow you to create a final scan folder backup on a USB thumb drive from just one location before your update period expires.

does anyone know why internal memory shows 0.98gb? even though there's an sd class10 64gb. problem is it wont download OS update for that reason (disk capacity not enough)
Backing up your vehicle library is always a good idea. I can't say 100% that you will be able to restore your tablet if you have to do a complete reset, only because I don't know if you can back up the operating system. I only know for sure you can back up the vehicles.
i have the larger 64 gb internal flash on a later production MaxiSys Elite and 15 months left on my 2 years of updates. Because of all the system updates and software optimization updates I'm thinking all the fragmented files etc are going to affect speed, stability and performance sooner than later after the gig is up on the update period. I kinda feel it might be a wise thing to do at least 30 days before my update period ends that I would like to perform a factory reset and download every thing fresh and create my final back up afterwards then abstain from any further System , Lib , or Optimization updates. I'm wondering if the Elite has 2 years of warranty support behind the 2 year update period if something were to go wrong doing a factory reset a month before the 2 year update period ends?
As long as your under update contract you are also under warranty. If you choose to do a factory reset 1 month before your updates expire you should be good to go if there are any issues.
My OBD autel md802 updated. My machine doesn't work, so I want to find firmware v.2.60 Sys.Software v5.02 Hardware version v1.00. Can someone help or advise me on what I should do? Or is anyone able to send a backup file for me?

Great video! When I did reset on my 906bt all my vehicle icons did not come back. Is this normal? After did my software update I could update each manufacture and they would come back to my diag screen but only after updating., ( before reset all the icons were there with update symbol above them )

Wish I would have seen this before attempting to update my 908. I did the update ALL now have the warning SD card full. My question is, can I perform the reset and reinstall the previously updated vehicles or will the updates already pushed out to the scan tool not be available to reload again?
No, because the full SD card is not actually an SD card. On this application the "SD Card Full" Refers to the internal memory on the tool. not a micro SD card

ok i have a question. my best friend gave me his ds708 and it worked great til last yr and then recently i plugged it into my car and it trys to boot but then stops and wont complete the boot so curious and i have made an account under my name for the unit and such but i am curious is this now a big paper weight or is there any chance of getting it to work and in all reality i just need it for my 2 cars where i have a benz and a corvette. i dont need tons and tons of manufactures info just those two but anyway just curious if u had any suggestions thanks if u can advise.
That tool is not supported by Autel anymore. The only option that may work is to copy your SD card to another one hoping the SD card is the issue. Depending on the functions you need you may just check on the HT200 from Walmart, or the MD808PRO from Autel

My scanner now goes blank after the update and just boot-loops. I called and they sent me a file which goes to the root of my SD card and it now shows the boot screen along with a progress bar. Once it's done I remove it but it still gives me a boot loop error :(

Contact Autel support on that one. It could be apps running in the background that are taking up memory, or it could be that the digitizer on the screen is going bad. They can help you narrow it down.
Its not that easy, unfortunately. Its not a real SD card it is actually the internal memory of the tool that this is referring to. There are only a few programs that can live on the external SD card. The challenge is the lines that have to live on the internal SD card that can not be swapped out.
