It’s Sunday evening and Latif, the greatest cook in Britain, has posted another amazing recipe. This is perfect Sunday night entertainment. And Latif genuinely cares for all of us. He wants us to be able to make and appreciate curry like he does. And what a brilliant job he’s doing. Doniobad Latif.
Exiled Scouser here in Norway. I've got excellent lamb on a farm two minutes down the road from me, but I miss an Afghan colleague that I used to have breakfasts of stale naan and pink tea with. Really been enjoying the content lately. The tomatoes making the gravy has been a revelation for me.
Ex Londerner living in Finland. Making these dishes helps me remember all those great restaurants I used to go to back in my youth. Learnt so much from your videos.❤
It's spring in Australia, the best season for lamb. I've been cooking a lot of Italian food recently... time to mix things up with this lovely recipe. Appreciate you my man.
Bismallah, Latin , I am Canadian and I have seen every video you posted. My family and I cook at least two of your dishes every week. Keep posting and inspiring all of us . Allah bless you. Rami
Loved the old school kitchen move. Peeling the ginger with a tea spoon 👌🏼 I did wonder there was so much liquid but you ran that dish down until you got a thick texture. Alhamdulillah. Looks stunning 👏🏼
Hey man! so nice of you sharing your knowledge I've really digged into british-indian cuisine thanks to you tried so many different things from your channel and got yself a lovely collection of spices I can truly say that you've changed the way I cook and expanded my knowledge so much thank you for that, keep this great work up!
You have changed the way I cook. For spiritual reasons I have removed beef from my curries. I now also go for flavour not heat. My go to flatbread is taboon although I do make my own chapattis 🇵🇸🏴🙏
Wallah el hazim, brother Latif. I am not of ur faith, but must admit that your recipes are really something else! 'Hola' from Barcelona city, and thank you for your most kind effort! 🌿♨️🙏
Woot! I love this dish!! We get a whole lamb from a local farmer and I’m always looking for a good curry… can’t wait to eat this!! ( I used my IP to precook the meat as our traditional pressure pot is no more… long story haha) thanks for sharing. I end up using Thai green chili as Birds Eye chilis aren’t available here
❤ I tried many of your recipes as my husband wanted me to learn of you how to cook. Thanks to you, I enjoy cooking. I can't wait when I try this new recipe. I would appreciate so much if you show how to cook cabbage curry Bangladeshi or Pakistani style. Thank you.
Favourite dish ever First had it late 70s in Attercliffe Sheffield The dish was for 2 people We had one each with fresh Roti and jugs of lusi The place is long gone now but never had one as good since I’m going to have to come to Alsager because you’ve just set me off again 💕🕊️👍👍👍 Fabulous
Hi i am from South Africa..I enjoy ur recipes amazing dishes..also ur bhunas..base gravy.kadias..all ur tomato pastes..chillie sauces n more dey are amazing n authentic. Keep it up.
Salaams Latif, looks like a top notch karahi. Ive recently started making karahis at home after visiting a few karahi restaurants. One thing i want to know is the differences between all the types of karahis you see in the restaurants? Ones ive come across so far are Charsi karahi Shinwari karahi Peshawar karahi Kabul karahi Butt karahi Namak mandi karahi What's the difference between all these?
I never did like raw ginger however since eating food from different cultures the way it’s meant to be eaten I started liking it! It’s not a Bangladeshi way though! More Pakistani style!!!
Voila! Back at the helm and recreating authentic dishes. Looks beautiful Masha Allah brother. Can't wait to see you make paya. May Allah SWT give you the strength and energy to make more videos to share with us. Also can you recreate kabuli pulao please
It looks awesome and sounds really simple, so focused on just a few flavors. I know you said to splurge on lamb, but where I am, lamb is $13/lb, beef is $5/lb, chicken is $2/lb, and venison is free (if you're successful). Is there any other meat that could be substituted to develop a similar dish? PS: When are you going to do a methi chicken? PPS: Another quick question: what type of tea do you serve with your curries? I have over 3 dozen varieties from all over the world in my pantry. PPPS: And thank you again for sharing so many wonderful recipes and techniques.
This look amazing, with very few ingredients as well. Unfortunately we have big appetites in our house and that dish would cost a fair bit for 4 people!
Latif thanks for this one, very interesting. But what was used to cook this kind of dish before the discovery in South America of tomatoes, chilli and coriander?
Oh that looks really delicious. If only we had 'smellovision' 😂 I think I'll be having a go at making this fairly soon. Incidentally, please can you advise on what strength the chillies are? Thank you ever so much for sharing this one 😊
@@LatifsInspired thank you Latif. I was quite shocked to see you using so many when I usually use 2, maximum 3, (marked as strength 3 on supermarket packs) in my cooking. I think I'll be cautious and stick to that quantity for the first time and adjust the next time if necessary 🙂
Please visit Kolapata in Whitechapel. Authentic Dhaka food, delicious! My favourites are the biriani, tomato borta, and most of the lamb dishes. The phirni is a good way of completing the meal with a cup of tea 😊
@@LatifsInspired yea I'm waiting for that video lol. Nihari is beautiful isn't it. Have you got a recipe video? Or when you go back to London ask them if you can film them making a Nihari
Lazier version..... 1.5kg mixed mutton Two cans tomato 1 packet of indus karahi fry mix Oil for searing the meat. Night before mix the spice mix with the curried cut mutton. Fry off the meat in a large pot, add water and tomatoes to around 3L in total volume. Leave on low simmer for 3-4 hours mutton is soft but not quite fall off the bone. Fry off ginger and garnish
This looks good but its more like pakistani style then afghani. Afghani is like a 1 pot, meat > then tomatoes > green chillis > black pepper/salt and ginger at the end. There is very little gravy. Never coriander n other bits.
Bro latif, you’ve gone wrong on many things here, its traditionally made with mutton/sheep and also with fatty meat meaning rib cuts if you dont have chunks of fat as that is what gives it the flavour. you dont puree the tomatoes yaar, gives off too much water. I dont know which afghan place ever used tumeric in this dish, black pepper and chillies only. Has way too much gravy also. I guess you can call it your version as its far from authentic.
@@LatifsInspired yes me too but I'll check out Afghan grill this week. Next time you are here I want to take you to a jerk chicken halal place it's incredible 🙏🏽
Is my English palate allowed to eat this? - I say because I really have a bone to pick with you over your comment about Asian palates being different to others. 90% of people I have raised this with find it wrong on your part........ You said - @LatifsInspired 2 weeks ago Most BIR is catered for the British English pallet however this restaurant still caters for the Asian pallet. Must try to understand it! You really made out that I and other non Asians can't appreciate or enjoy non BIR food. ALL my home cooked curry style dishes are authentic. I've been cooking them for 30 years. If I said something similar about your knowledge of British cuisine & your palate not being ready for it, I'd be label racist by the internet police! Just think about it please. I'm about 50 miles from your restaurant and would like to come over to eat and talk with you. All for the positive.
It isn't difficult to understand, asian people eat food heavily spiced and greasy/oily. Typically for people not used to it, it can be too heavy or spiced. British Indian recipes are milder. Myself, being asian can no longer hack it!
This is a long answer I will talk about it on my channel soon actually! Desi style food is different to BIR food! Not racism it’s just let’s say regional. I’ll have to explain it to make sense
@@LatifsInspired I know Desi style food is totally different to BIR. I have never compared the two as even similar. My initial comment was about our palates only. The vast majority of my cooking of 'Indian' food is Desi these days, i really prefer it myself. My palate has changed over the decades to this food from BIR
I am your sister from Yemen, and by Allah I only spoke out of hunger and distress. My mother, my brothers, and I lessons and tears. We are in a situation that only God knows about. God is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs for those who broughtOh people, we are your sisters, by God 😭😭😭 We do not even find a loaf of bread inside the house that would satisfy you, oh nation of Muhammad. People are brothers. Oh God, make your righteous servants subservient to us. Oh God, make your righteous servants subservient to us. My appeal to every Muslim, oh Lord, if he sees this message, may He prolong his life, make him happy, and cover him. May God reward him. We are your sisters and your children. By God, we do not even find a loaf of bread inside the house that would satisfy you. Oh nation of Muhammad, I only spoke out of extreme hunger and distress. My mother, sisters, and I are displaced from our homes because of the war. We are in a state that no one knows about except God. God is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs, against those who brought us to this state 💔💔 By God Almighty, I only wrote this appeal out of extreme poverty and poverty, oh people. I beg you by God Almighty, Lord of the Mighty Throne, that I do not have food at home. By God, my brothers and sisters have been sitting around for two days. Without food, by God our situation is very difficult, we are 4 people in the house and my father passed away and there is no one to support us and we live in a rented house and we cannot pay the rest of the rent. I am not lying to you nor deceiving you nor cheating you. I am a Yemeni girl displaced because of the war between me and my family over a rent dispute and the owner of the house. By God, my brother comes every day and humiliates us and talks about us and wants us to go out to the street because we are unable to pay him the rent. The neighbors saw us crying and talked to the neighbors again and gave us a deadline until the end of the week and we swore to God to let us out of the street now we are in arrears of 60 thousand Yemeni riyals for 3 months rent may God have mercy on us our country is suffering because of this war and we do not find our daily sustenance and we live my mother and sisters our father passed away may God have mercy on him and we do not have anyone in the world to come to us in these harsh circumstances my little sisters went out to the street and saw the neighbors eating and stood at their door giving them even a piece of bread and by God in whose hand is the heavens and the earth they closed the door and kicked them out and they came back crying dying of hunger no one has mercy on them and now the holiday has come back to me if no one of us helps us with a kilo of flour by God we will die of hunger brother I seek refuge in God and then in you and I want your help for the sake of God I ask you by God you love goodness and help me even if it is about the rent of the house send me a WhatsApp message on this number 00967711500090 and ask for my card name and send it and do not delay may God compensate you with all good My little sisters, look at their situation and help us and save us before they throw us out into the street and humiliate us or my family and I die of hunger. You are everywhere posting on Muslims channels with the same story....you have this money for a phone a net connection and time to beg but not time and money to make things better yourself? Stop frauding people
This is a quick version and simplified for my viewers! This way the meat is cooked to the correct texture and we re-use the stock so all flavour is in tact without compromise! Barak-Allahu Feekum
My little spin on it. The green ginger & garlic paste is a mixture of garlic, ginger, coriander, green chilli & green pepper it’s lovely and aromatic. I could’ve just used garlic I wanted to put my little spin on it! No disrespect
