As a Thai person, I totally disagree with this tradition and want to have it abolished immediately. It causes environmental problems. Imagine tons of Krathong in the river ending up to be trash in the river. Imagine floating lanterns falling onto someone else's roof. This actually happened before, and some people died in the fire. I hate this Festival. It is just pure irresponsibility. And people who celebrate it are irresponsible people too.
This really feels like a dream, sooo beautiful! Wonderful scenes and top notch editing, one of the best videos of the channel, for sure. Awesome job, guys! Thanks for sharing these memorable moments with us! 😊😊🤗
What an awesome experience ! You guys are very lucky. I was born and raised 1/3 of my life in Chiangmai. Still never been to Wat Phan Toa for Yi Peng ceremony. I miss Loy Krathong. We lived 7mins walk away from the Three Kings monument. Thanks for sharing from Calgary, Canada.
Hello! We were so lucky to be able to experience those festivals! Only seven mins away from the Three Kings, that's awesome! Thanks for sharing! Hope you're staying warm in Calgary 🥶
That's the best video I've seen of the festivals in Chiang Mai this year, thanks! That makes me really want to plan a trip there during that time of year.
Traveling in Chiang Mai is happy all year round. Especially in April there is a Songkran festival. and the month of November Loy Krathong Festival I've lived in Chiang Mai for 12 years. It's the happiest city I like in Thailand.
I agree with the comment. It is very good vid. You guys are a very good team. Actually at first I didn't think you guys were different in your presentation and above all your information. But, I was wrong the more I watch the better it gets. Good Luck to both of you. I am retired and my Filipina wife and I will be moving the Chiang Mai next summer. That is unless I see a great place on one of your videos. The pic quality is amazing and adding the drone is perfect, you let the drone do it's job, then move on. Very good video. BTW I am stuck in Texas..Lol
Hey Mike 👋 We are trying to improve our video presentation, storytelling, and including more information. It will only get better! That's so exciting you guys might be moving to Chiang Mai! Have you been before? Thanks for all the kind words! At least your warm in Texas right now! Thanks for the feedback.
Thank you very much Sammy and Tommy for made a very good video and very nice word for my country. I am from Thailand and I'am so grateful to see it. I wish you are enjoy a lot in Thailand.
I’m going to Thailand this year and I was upset because the tickets for the Lantern Festival were sold out! Watching this video, it seems that the local experience is much better! Thanks a lot!
On Christmas Eve I wanna say massive thanks for you guys for all that incredible content you make. It's so positive and full of happiness. Wish you all the best and new adventures in 2022. Thank you so much! Merry Christmas ☃️🌲
This whole trip of you guys in the north is not from this year right? Not seeing anyone's wearing a mask. I've noticed no masks in a few videos. Nevertheless thank you for sharing your nice memories. Where you make many people including me can smile in our hearts.
Hi guys, thanks for your vid. I am planing to travel Thailand this year at the time of Yi Peng festival being held. Just one concern that the ticket for private place is a bit high, so i just consider to blend in the crowd outside the public place (free). Wonder if you guys have ever try it and what it look like from the free place?
👋 Hello! That's so exciting you will love it! Don't buy the tickets to the private places. It's a big ripoff and only tourists do it. Follow our video and do it the local way! We did it at the public place and it was free! Have a wonderful time!
Do you guys have any recommendations for hotels/accommodation places where to stay when in Chang Mai for these festivals so you can walk to all the action? Cheers@@SammyandTommy
Hey guys, how long ago was this shot? The Buddhist scene where they are doing the ceremony seems like it was shot before Covid and the lighting of the lanterns. I was there this year and they weren’t allowing the lanterns to be lit by the River. Also it seems like everyone in the clips aren’t wearing any masks.
Lovely video Well Done. The big question is what when on after you got back to the hotel room? Lot's of hot air, pops & bang's Etc Then you float off to sleep! LOL
Thank you for sharing such beautiful capture of the festival. It was so amazing! Could I ask for the name of the street where you guy release the lanterns to the sky? Thank you again.
Sammy wish you and your family👪 happy Christmas Eve🎄🎆 in behalf of me in advance I believe Christmas Eve is one of the most beautiful and holy festivals of the world may Allah guide all of us to the straight path Amin amen
Thanks so much. I will be there next year. Made reservation for November 5 in Bangkok. Was going to stay a month and then go to Chiang Mai. But the festival is Nov 8 &9, so I will go directly to Chiang Mai for a month and then back to Bangkok and then the Banana Pancake route through SE Asia. I have been looking forward to this festival for years. Thanks for the details. Tom B.
Hello! If the Yi Peng Festival is happening on Nov 15-16 this year, when would the Monk Ceremony fall? Would you know? Would love to witness it, too. Thanks!
So sad to see beautiful religious and traditional festivals turned into tourist shows. I hope no other country misuses their age old customs and traditions for the entertainment of tourists (not including China)…
13-15 April will have Songkran festival in Thailand(every provinces) , the most fun water festival, and 19 April at Pattaya, hope you can join the festival 💦 Every year will have this festival, but not have for covid 19 lock down last 2-3 years ago, but this year will fully again, I am waiting the festival every year, since I am a child
Hiii! I just wanted to know where does the monk ceremony takes place? Its in the three king monument? Or some other temple? Thanks!! Your videos are amazing!!!
Ahh sky lantern, bring back memories. We do it once in Hanoi, it was amazing (the scenary and feelings). But later, it caused some small fires so been banned since then. How do Thailand keep watch of safety?
hi, love your video. did you go for the latern festival in 2021? was it easy to move around the old town and light up the laterns on the festival nights ?
hi everyone - hoping for advice. is there any part of the festival that charges an entrance fee or needs a ticket and if so how do i get this :-) thank you in advance
