The Chinese are making almost all the tools for most of the companies. They have the drawings and specs for everything. It's really easy for them to make anything that is on the market. Our companies gave them all their secrets. We taught them everything we knew. Now they make their own brands with a few changes and are selling them for less. We handed them the keys and now we're screwed. Kids today in the US never worked in a factory. All us old guys who now how to run machines are disappearing. I have seen lathes, Bridgeport mills , and other machines sold for scrap. Corporate America gave it away.
That is a good knife. If I were you, I'd put that knife with your prep/bug out stuff. And turn in all the other knives to the shop for sharpening. Even the multi-tool. Or get a sharpening stone, the girls know how to use it. When I was in my twenties, I had a Thai girl. And she had a sharpening stone in a kitchen drawer. which she used regularly. It was the same with my last girlfriend who was from Chile. I have the same system. And I have the same kitchen knives for 25-30 years now.
hello from UK, I purchased 3 knockoff strongarm knives from Aliexpress China , for less than $10.00 each delivered uk. the sheath is branded Gerber, but the knives are branded WPKOPYA with the Stars and stripes flag USA. they were advertised as D2 steel and very well made, I imagine they were so cheap as heat treatment is so critical, and all the adverse publicity with the knock offs breaking they are now dumping existing stock to recover costs. personally I want the knives for general camp and bushcraft work, and they should be fine provided they are not subjected to shock or lateral impact.
Thanks, I just ordered a copy on Lazada . I want to try it in the kitchen. The Chinese copy passed the filipina kitchen and village test, so it is not that bad.
I would suggest you only share the knife if it makes it easier for the ladies prepare food for you and your babies. I would consider investing in a sharpener and try ti keep the China blade sharp for them. Possibly even consider buying them a more appropriate kitchen knife and keep the strongarm for personal use.
No No No for torture testing. Keep the knife with the king. Leave the knockoff on the cooking table. Subtle but obvious differences between the authentic and the knockoff.
I have a couple of ka bar bk18's and a esee 4 chinese copies and I am impressed with the batch. Depends on the vendor some of these are hard to beat. Yea yea I know boycott china. But c'mon frugality prevails lol.
Hey Marcus,I was just watching your video about the fake Gerber strongarm. When you showed the image of the documentation that came with it. Check out the word Tactical on the paper. Damn Chinese can't spell. Tactibal surprised thay got the word Gerber spelled right
Yeah, after some time cheap chinese plastic usually acquires this "philosophical" Play-Dough consistency, in worst case scenario a coal-miner booger one. LOL. On a serious note; these phthalates are highly carcinogenic. I wouldn't even touch that handle anymore.
He can’t help himself, he’s the only one in the Philippines not having a good time because he keeps thinking about Chinese ppl slowly colonizing the world…
Some Gerbers are half decent knives but they are overpriced for what you get. There are better alternative out there if you get out of the illusion that "Made in USA" have something to do with good quality.
@@BoonieDocks Depending on your budget. But Mora Garberg is a good knife so is some of Fällknivens models. If you just want a knife shaped prybar a Becker BK2 will do you nicely. It is depending of intended usage really. There are some good deals from China too out there.
