Hi, thanks for taking the time to create the video. On task 3, Brute force I'm able to create the valid_usernames.txt file and I have edited to just the names. But, when I run the command I don't get any errors but no steve/thunder. I'm copying and pasting the commands so there are no typos. I have also shut down the machines and started over with the same result. I fell like just moving on. Again thanks.
i had the same problem when i stubled upon this video. i was able to figure out it must have to do with how the data is formated in the .txt file deleting the -fc argument to see what was passing through the actually program and found it was taking the W1 argument weird. I worked around this by making the valid_usernames.txt file just say steve and it will tell you you have a password hit when you run the program but i never got it to work as originally intended with a full list of multiple usernames
i had the same issue but found a guy that used "nano" to make the file in the terminal, then save it from there. and when i ran the second command, it gave me what i needed.
awesome videos, as the other guys said, plesae remove those sound effects. It's really anoying and does not contribute to your content by any means. Other than that, really nice video! Cheers!
Hey so Im stuck on the brute force task, task 3. I enter that long command multiple times after making sure there is no syntax errors but it doesn't show the names like it does on yours. Do you know why that is?
It's because you prob didn't delete the old valid usernames file and re-make a fresh one. I was dealing with the same issue, but I saw that Brock says to do this at 3:57, and it worked for me. That or something is mis-spelled in your terminal
