**UPDATED VIDEO**: • Authentik - Branding/C... In this video, I demonstrate how to customize your authentik instance to reflect your brand. Link to troubleshooting upload permissions: goauthentik.io/docs/troublesh...
would be great if you could show how to edit the whole theme to make everyhting rounded for example :) Also do you know of a way to change manually to light mode when I'm having dark mode set in my system generally?
That would probably require edits to the source...may be possible with CSS edits added to NPM (if you use that) but I wouldn't know where to start with CSS. The dev mentions the dark and light mode is baked in and currently there is no manual way to change it...it follows your system but I vaguely remember another user in the discord ask the dev about it to which the dev stated he may add a manual toggle somewhere in the GUI. For now, I use the browser extension Dark Reader to switch it from dark to light and vise versa.
Thank you very much for the great Videos about Authentik. Do you know how to customize the size of the logo. I uploaded my svg-file but it's too big. Just shorten it made no difference...
First, thank you for the video (and all the others) ! I have a question about customisation: in your Application Wall you have the description of each app always visible. On my setup I have to click on "More details" button to see that and I don't like it. -> Is it something that changed with newer Authentik version or did you do something so that it's always displayed ?
You're welcome! When you create the application, expand UI settings. Then, you can enter the Launch URL, change the icon, enter the Publisher, and a Description.
@@cooptonian Yes I did all that and I can see them (Publisher and Description), but only if I press on "More details" under each App. I don't know why I don't have the same layout than you :(
Hey, so after I updated, it seems you are correct...the layout has been changed 😞 I can only assume it is because some descriptions are long and would cause the UI to look cluttered, especially if there are a lot of apps.
Do you know how to customize the entire login screen including css or theming? A video for this would be nice also. Been searching for days and I can’t find anything helpful. The documentation sucks too
...that I have yet to learn. I agree the documentation is lacking, however, its getting better with user contributions. For example in your case this link regarding customization: goauthentik.io/docs/interfaces/user/customization ...nowhere does it say go here or there, enter this code here, these are the values to manipulate...etc... so I have no idea what to do with that info. I can F12 and inspect the page and see what could be changed in the HTML file and then maybe make edits and replace the original but this isn't ideal as it would be overwritten with any update... *UPDATE*...so apparently the advanced customizations can be done via the API. I am not proficient in this aspect (yet) but if I was I'm sure this would make a lot more sense and find it much easier 😅
awesome. but how do I show user and password input option same time like yours? By default we can first enter email/pass then password input option shows up.
...you'll need to edit your identification stage. Under your identification stage, for password stage, choose your password stage. Then in your authentication flow, remove the password stage (this is the 2nd page that pops up asking for the password when logging in)... see this part in my other video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NKJkYz0BIlA.html
Is there any way to add 2FA to an application like Jellyfin or Bitwarden and be able to access them from the mobile app? Because when I add two-step authorization to an app, the Android or iPhone mobile app stops working. thanks
...hmmm with 2FA good question, at the moment, I don't think so...but may want to ask the dev in the discord... Jellyfin generates API keys, if clients were able to utilize this to connect instead of login (like when setting up Ombi or other apps that connect via api) then Authentik could maybe be bypassed that way since it has a feature for api bypass...
What is the best way to have 2x differently branded login pages? Is that what 'outposts' are for? Instead of having a separate container/instance of Authentik, I'd like 1x to be able to manage multiple login points that are for different purposes and branded differently Really appreciate it if you could give some insight (or make a video guide..)
...I believe so. I think it works by creating a new outpost (which authentik will auto-deploy a new container for). Then you just create new flows for that instance. In the configuration, you would provide a new subdomain (just be sure it exists in your reverse proxy). If I'm wrong I'm sure other commenters will correct me...or you can get more help from the discord
Would you be willing to go over how too do a custom email template, I noticed your emails aren’t plain text. How does one accomplish this? Thanks for all the helpful videos!
what do you mean, when the update button turns red, you should check permissions? File access permissions? Or User permissions in Authentik? Im a superuser.. And why did you even copy the background with winscp, when you change the background in the GUI? It doesn't work for me unfortunately. So i used the very last option :)
The update button turns red when the update fails/there is an error...Yes file access permissions per authentik docs, "This issue is most likely caused by permissions. Docker creates bound volumes as root, but the authentik processes don't run as root." ( goauthentik.io/docs/troubleshooting/image_upload ) As far as me copying a background, I state @ 0:36 in the video that you can do that with the Graphical User Interface and I am just doing it an example (so use the same process with any file for customization...such as the SVG vector file or favicon file)
@@cooptonian Ye i figured it out. Though i had ownership set properly, but it also required me to set the read/write for group too. I'm using unraid, so the directory was created as root in this case. still having problems with additional headers not working, so im going to do a fresh install or try keycloak/authelia.
Thanks for the tutorial! For some reason whenever I check my /media folder it is completely empty and even after I make directories like you did nothing stores there. Also even though I upload backgrounds...it won't apply (but in the gui it's successfully updating the flow) Also also, I did see the documentation about permission issues but because I deployed this with portainer I don't really know where I would even add it. Please help if possible
...how are you checking your /media? In Linux? From Window/WinSCP? Terminal/SSH? For permissions, you can maybe change them...at least temporarily by connecting to console of container but you'll most likely have to edit the stack file. How did you get the configuration into Portainer? Web editor? File upload? I'd recommend also posting in the discord.
@@cooptonian Commenting from another account. 1)I am checking using the built in bash on Portainer directly into the container. I tried accessing through Linux host machine but because it's through portainer it seems to be all over the place and not in the same folder structure as you have. 2)i am not sure to what exactly edit permissions wise 3) I used WEb editor to deploy it 4)I did post in discord and currently awating a reply
I cannot for the life of me get the background to take at all... I've tried everything... even went away from the portainer install. Everytime I upload a file it just doesn't take.
@@cooptonian Im dealing with the same issue. Not sure at all what to do at this point at all. Im deploying it with docker compose and everything seems to work except the backgrounds.
...you can actually download the latest docker-compose file straight from the documentation page found here: goauthentik.io/docs/installation/docker-compose and all I did was add the email lines/block relevant to my setup... This compose file even has an entry to spin up a container for GeoIP (geoipupdate) if you have a MaxMind account set up.
