Claire, besides the fact that you openly talk about being “an autistic lady” (me too…self dx’d @54) what is most inspiring to me about you is that you are living a life as a creative soul. Finding time to dabble in the things that bring you joy, from hats and mugs, content creation to sourdough bread. From where I sit, it’s a most authentic life. My minds eye has me doing so many things…but I haven’t figured out yet how to get to them since I’ve been teaching elementary school since 1999. Also, I’ve realized that ADHD makes it hard for me to follow through with all the things I love. That said, I’m so thrilled to keep receiving inspiration from you. Now that my two kids are young adults (18 and 21) I do have some more time to explore the creative side of me…and the ideas are vast, indeed! Although I’m a tea drinker, I’ll still join you for porch coffee on the regular! ❤

I spent 2 hours at the farm with my miniature horse yesterday. He needed his hooves trimmed and a good grooming. My muscles are protesting today, but it was so worth it. I dressed Walter up a bit for St Patrick's Day, and the other mini owner there dressed hers up too. We had a little photo shoot, and Walter and Sunny were so adorable! I decided to use one of the pics as my new profile pic.

The podcast is my favorite content that you’ve done so far. I feel like you’re a natural at creating a warm and non threatening space for good conversations to happen. ❤

Regarding the bread, I make it at night, you leave it to ferment in the lowest part of the refrigerator (like low temp., slow rise), and then you bake it in the early hours of the next day, just in time for breakfast!

Checking in weekly on the ‘Fellowship of the Yarn’ is turning into a habit. Thinning the herd… hoard… same. 😅😂

I think one of the biggest delineations for the conversation is physical traits versus personality\observable ones. Physical traits are going to be a change in anatomy. This would be things such as hair color, eye color, polydactyly, etcetera. While an observable trait is merely something someone can perceive. I would consider this things such as rate of taking speed, the way they walk (which can be due to a deviation in anatomy), whether they look people in the eye, etcetera. The conversation with Meg was great. I loved hearing each of your experiences! The hat drop is exciting, good luck!! And good luck with the sourdough bread, too!!

Thank you for reiterating the point that autism doesn't have a specific 'look'. That said, I often say I can recognize other autistic/neurodivergent folks based on "vibes!" 😊

I spend my last days searching info about mcas eds and pot

Been lurking and listening for quite a while, but just ordered a mug today as I've gone from being in the assessment pipeline to joining the ranks of the late diagnosed adults for whom it probably should have been a lot more apparent a lot earlier 😂 Love hearing about the upcoming drops to the store, I'm not much a scarf person... but at some point my partner will likely be getting a scarf surprise Seeing the streams with other creators has also been excellent. It's truly wonderful being able to see you all build your communities individually and together! For me, this week is anti-burnout vacation week. A lot of doing very little, going basically nowhere and letting the battery recharge. Though to be honest this is likely the first time I'm successfully taking an anti-burnout vacation and not a "oh god I'm already burning out and need to escape" week that doesn't actually do much of anything. But anyway, time to go make weird warbly "ambient" noises on the computer so that I can get weird looks from the normal kids on soundcloud.

Check out Ben Starr's no knead sourdough recipes. He debunks all of the modern bs surrounding sourdough. Our great grandmothers not only didn't waste precious flour, but they didn't have the time to baby their bread into existence. I never do all that resting and folding thanks to him and my bread turns out just fine. Less stress is best. ❤

I agree that you can’t tell someone is Autistic just by looking at them but since my diagnosis, I can observe someone and by their actions tell that they probably are. A busy week ahead….we have construction starting at our house this week and at the end of the week, I will be one year older🎉🎉🎉. Hope everyone has a great week, enjoy the spring weather! I've been enjoying tea with my new Porch Coffee mug. Here I am, retired, but still never have enough time in the day to do a faction of the things I want to do. Depending on me are a wife who doesn't drive, four cats, 47 houseplants, and a small garden that is coming back to life. There's also a duplex apartment to keep clean, and plans for decluttering and organizing that are moving ahead at a snails pace 🐌. I'm not lazy, but I hate to rush.

The podcast with Meg was great. 😃 Wow, you did a good job on the Dutch Oven! I have no clue what exactly a Dutch Oven is or how it's used... but I don't bake bread. 😅 I did make soda bread biscuits in honour of St. Patrick's Day yesterday... no yeast involved. My week? Other than normal stuff, like work... oh an abusive manager no longer is working there anymore, so that's good. I didn't work directly with the manager, but it seems like the atmosphere in that department is much better, so that's good. I brought in my sewing machine for a tune-up, since it has been skipping stitches and stuff. It'll be a week or two (several machines ahead of mine) and it'll be $85, unless it needs something more than just a tune-up, but that's less than buying a whole new machine (like my mother suggested). It's been mild here lately... up into the teens (celcius)... but today is around freezing and we got more snow. I was hoping the white stuff was done for the year, but is only March and we usually get one big storm in March... if all we get is a dusting, I can live with that. Have a great week.

That Dutch oven was such a good deal! Bar keepers friend has also helped me many times 😂 I’ve never tried making sourdough, but I found a recipe for sandwich bread that only takes around 4 hours including the rising time, which I think is a lot more manageable. Having a grilled cheese with homemade bread is delicious. I hope y’all have a great week, and I’ll try to have one too ❤

Electric bread makers work great for making bread. I make alot of raisin bread in mine.

I love baking bread. I used to have a no knead recipe for regular bread that was awesome. I had a starter last year but I killed it off somehow. But I’ll be buying one again because sourdough is also one of my favorites to eat. The bread looked pretty good. I’ve welcomed my friend burnout home. It was kind of inevitable I was already holding off a burnout and with last week’s stuff adding to it he is now here again. Welcome back Bernie I hope you don’t stay too long this time. Do keep mentioning the membership if you don’t I’ll just forget to join lol some of us need a reminder. There is nothing wrong with self promotion. I plan on doing some gardening even though Bernie is visiting. Even if I can just get an hour or two in I think it will be healthy. I’m not watching any autism content at the moment but as soon as I start again your podcast with Meg is on top of my list. I love Meg she always has great insides. I don't buy shop bread but I do cheat with a bread machine now that we have kids, I used to make bread hand when I was working but I don't have the space to store the amount I used to make, the machines (I have 2) are used daily for all sorts of breads and pizza night on Fridays, the kids love it. Sounds like you have another busy week ahead, I hope it all goes well for you. I finally started my cross stitch I've been saying I will go back to for about 4 years, I bought the pattern in May 2020 and I'm still on the first of 16 A4 pages of pattern ....and it's all sky on the first page! Hope bread making went well! I have never baked bread but is something I'd like to try sometime. This week here, I'm being kind to myself. I let it be alright that my husband do most of the socializing at an event. It felt good to do what I was comfortable with. I'm trying to do that more and it feels good. ❤

Yummy 😋. The wonderful smell of bread rising makes me happy just thinking about it. A top 25 experience for me is fresh baked bread directly out of the oven and with a dab of honey butter. It's heaven.

Sourdough bread is best, especially with a thick layer of butter and a little sea salt!😋. I think the brand you are thinking of is called Le Creuset.

Sourdough! That's one of my favourite breads. As to an autistic "look". I find it easier to see in men. Women have more genetic material (X chromosome versus Y), so more variety. To me, there isn't just one look, there are several. The most obvious one is what I call the Gary Delaney look. He's a British comedian who has spoken about having an "autistic nephew", though he could be talking about himself. I've seen a few autistic men with the same look. I hope he doesn't mind me saying this. He once did a routine that made me pass out from laughing, I'm not kidding.😆

That was a good deal on the Dutch oven. I also love Bar Keepers Friend, it really is amazing stuff. Good for burn marks on stainless steel pans and coffee and tea stains on mugs
