By the look of the bikes and the racing uniforms/equipment, I thought I stepped into the 1970's!

It's pretty retro indeed....and some of the riders might already have been racing since those '70s....there are a few old fellows among them...

aw man giovani giorgio lost... Ok Haruchika Aoki - from wiki born March 28, 1976 in Gumma, Japan) is a former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. He was a two-time F.I.M. 125cc world champion.[1] He is the youngest of three Aoki brothers who have competed in motorcycle Grand Prix races. Aoki began his Grand Prix career in 1993 with Honda. He won two consecutive 125cc world championships in 1995 and 1996 with Honda before moving up to the 250cc class in 1997. After two years in the 250cc class, Aoki made the move to the 500cc class in 1999. In 2000, he competed in the Superbike World Championship on a Ducati before returning to Grand Prix racing in 2001. Racing a V-twin, two-stroke Honda NSR500V, he finished the season as the top privateer. He almost pulled off an upset that year when he "won" the second half of the restarted Italian Grand Prix in torrential rain, but the race was decided on aggregate times from the first and second parts, meaning he was classified only fifth. Aoki retired after the 2002 season. Afterwards, he participated in the Japanese Auto Race series. He returned to Road Racing in 2016, when he raced in the MFJ All-Japan Road Race JP250 Championship aboard a Yamaha YZF-R25.

That looks so cool, so different compared to like Moto GP They probably have like a titanium te-enforced shoes on their left foot, because they are almost constantly touching or very nearly touching the tarmac?
@WizardOfOss
@WizardOfOss Год назад
Not sure if it's titanium, but they indeed have a piece of metal on their left shoe. This "Auto Race" is primarily about gambling, so everything is extremely regulated, so all bikes are exactly the same (599cc, 2-speed, no brakes), and to prevent race fixing the racers have to stay at a dorm isolated from the outside world when a race day is coming up. It was a lot of fun watching this though (and the sound is amazing...), so if you ever visit Japan, be sure to check out a race!

I bet they'd kick ass. Guess one of the top guys is 72. Just came across this in a mixed class race. #5 was up against 2 street bikes & 2 super enduro whatevers & he totally dominated. Looking like a offensive tackle on a speedway bike.

what happened to #4, the racer in the blue shirt? He had a good lead then he lost it and kinda scuttled off to the outside of the track. Engine trouble?
@WizardOfOss
@WizardOfOss 10 месяцев назад
I think he actually won the race, with the finish at 2:37? Remember these bikes don't have brakes, so when it's over they just get off the throttle and keep on rollin' to slow down.

You think so plenty of flat tarmac and area before the safety board here think I’d rather slide along that than a couple of foot of shale and into a fence straight off like most tracks. More time to get disentangled with bike They don’t seem to have quite got the concept of proper speedway

Please someone explain the physics behind this 😮😮😮
@FranklyNorman
@FranklyNorman 9 месяцев назад
The bikes are just purpose built for an oval track, made to turn left constantly. Not unlike Late Model dirt cars in the US. The idea is to always be right on the edge of laying the bike down, while also keeping the tightest line. Basically, whoever can brake the latest and accelerate the hardest but also keep the furthest inside wins

@@WizardOfOss Emotions like mushroom picking = no emotion - it is such a metaphor. It means that for me these races are not as interesting as traditional speedway. But I understand that for someone else it can be a very passionate sport :) I leave a thumb up because I respect your passion and work. After all, everyone is different and has their own interests :) greetings :)
@WizardOfOss
@WizardOfOss 3 года назад
@@adikab then the translation by Google was correct, I was just confused with the metaphor :-). As for the comparison with traditional speedway, it's a very, very long time ago when I've last seen that, but very spectacular indeed. This "Auto race" in Japan is mostly about gambling, even at the track more people were watching the results on monitors than actually watching the race from the grandstands. But it was good fun to watch and enjoy the sound, and best of all: it's absolutely free! So if you'll ever visit Japan, give it a chance!

@WizardOfOss
@WizardOfOss 9 месяцев назад
Absolutely, this is more about gambling than an actual sport. Most people there don't even go out to watch the race, they only care about the result. And there are also quite a few rules in place to prevent match fixing, as in the past the yakuza had a big hand in this.
