Automatically remove silent pauses from both your video & audio files in Premiere Pro - no plugins required!
This technique is especially useful if you do any kind of audio editing like podcasts, but also a quick way to jump cut through dead air for vlogs.
Although all the edits are done in Premiere's timeline, we'll first need to scan and mark our audio in Adobe's audio editing software, Adobe Audition. For those of you who would like more tutorials about Adobe Audition, I have a whole course on it over at LinkedIn Learning: bit.ly/LearnAu...

@@HarshKumar-ws3wv 'Make Offline' will unlink the media from the clip, so an offline clip remains in your project and timelines, but it is not connected to any video on your computer. 'Link Media' allows you to relink media on your computer to a clip in the Premiere project.

Thanks! The way to do this is to use Delete Silence instead of Mark Audio (but you still create subclip markers). Then import into Premiere, sync with multicam and use the flattened multicam to cut gaps in the media on your timeline.

Finally got this to work, if anyone is having issues after they've imported please re-check how many channels you have. I missed this but if you look to the right side of the waveform in audition there are boxes which say [L] [R] count how many of those there are and that's how many channels you have. For me that's all the problem was, you can always remove channels in premiere so just make sure it's correct
@iQuickscopedUrNan

Thanks for the ❤️ :) ALSO If anyone found that helpful, when you export from audition before you confirm it a small window appears that tells you how many channels you have so you don't have to count them! 😉

This feature is useful to me, because editing long boring videos into fun short videos has to do with trimming unnecessary parts of the video. Trimming very long videos like my 44 minutes of my raw record video is took hours. I'm still in school so I don't have time to edit videos. But with this feature I can save time for editing. Who wants to watch 44 minutes of video for viewers, and edit videos for hours for content creator.

This really helped! Thanks so much! The only thing I wish I can get a better workaround is how I have to manually move the clips to get a space in between them so that I can adjust the length of each clip. Is there one that I am not aware of?

Hey Paul. This method works great. However, for larger files that are 2+ hours long (with 2000+ subclips), they will crash Premiere when importing and make the project file size enormous. Is there another solution? Cheers
@ThePremierePro
@ThePremierePro 2 года назад
The reason for this is because all those subclip markers are bloating the project file. Once you re-link the original media, it should reduce the project file size again (after you save the file). If the import is crashing Premiere, you could try breaking your clips into smaller chunks - or if you can afford it, I highly recommend this plugin: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FM7R-gJRjUI.html

@@ThePremierePro Thanks Paul. You are right that the subclips are bloating the project. Since the audio files aren't being relinked it doesn't get resolved. I tried Timebolt but get an error whenever I try import any of my raw media so have moved to a method through FFMpeg. Cheers

Hey! I get lost at 4:44 where I import the new audio track, but it doesn't show me all these subclips (just the whole format which is the same as the original one). What's going wrong?

Try switching your Project panel to List view before you import.

i have applied what u said and it works with me Great . but what it does mean to make it offline and link media I have just clicked buttons dont know what does they mean ... I mean to use them functionally
@ThePremierePro
@ThePremierePro 2 года назад
That's great! Having your media offline simply means Premiere keeps a reference to your video files, but can't play them - once you link the media again, it should play fine.

Yes! I was waiting for this video, thanks! EDIT: just one last question, if you record your audio on a mic and store this in a different audio file. Do you first need to merge the audio with the video file before performing these steps? And the steps involved in this are: - Sync the audio files - Right click and merge files (Usually when i do this i get 2 audio tracks for some reason..)
@ThePremierePro
@ThePremierePro 3 года назад
Thanks! In the short term, that's probably the quickest way to do things, but let me have a think about this - there may be a better way.

@@ThePremierePro thanks for looking into this! Today i tried to perform this method and the problem i am running into is that at the last step when i link the subclips to the original videofile i end up with the original audio from the camera. I will try to work around this by exporting my merged file first in the media encoder. And linking the subclip to my exported merged file instead of the original video file.

It prioritized my camera mic instead of my actual mic and once moved back into my project, next made any cuts. Back to square one only this time with more steps.
