Brand new today to autocad I'm 6 minutes into this and getting the error "can't offset the object". Found nothing on Google or in the forums. Any ideas why I'm getting this error message on a simple offset operation?
400 is on the floor plan, just on the inside of the wall, just look back at the corresponding place where he places @4:45. same with the 700, the numbers are just displayed vertically
I can't seem to connect the first arc points on the first stair riser, my arc is just shy of connecting even with using the given dimensions for the riser (1250mmx870mm; Start,Center,End Arc 300. any ideas why my arc is connecting flush to the rails? any help appreciated.

I had to go to a different video...When you skipped ahead on the drawing of the rooms, all I'm left with is a floor plan to read which is very difficult for someone at my level (learning about 5 months now)
just screenshot the floor plan on your pc from the video. import the image. scale it. then use the line tool to trace the interior walls. you don't need perfect measurements to complete the drawing. Also there are a few steps he won't show but with a little critical thinking and backtracking you'll be able to figure it out. Hope this could help.
This was a great course. A little fast-paced at times, but that's what rewind is for. I started making a 3-D model out of it but because of the jut out in living room and bedroom above (fireplace?), my roof doesn't match elevation drawing as well as I'd like. The 100mm difference between the jut out next to garage and next to front door wasn't an issue; roof just overhangs the short side a little more. Thoughts?
thank you thank you thank you! This is so incredibly helpful. Seeing and doing this in actual application is so incredibly helpful. This video has clarified so much so quickly and is very straightforward and easy to understand. Very very appreciated.
I saw someone when they insert window and doors blocks and it opens automatically on the walls, similar to what you see in Revit. Does this need a plugin for AutoCAD?
for me this method works when you have an existing drawing you are refrencing from. most times I draw from my head and lay dow the walls as they come. sometimes I even reference other drawings but with different dimmension and change of space so going all out with poly line just will not work for me. well done anyway.
