The nice feature about AutoCad is the lessons never die. Thank you for over ten years ago, making this very thorough explanation of Xrefs! You made my life so much easier!! Well done, Sir.
OMG thanks so much. I recently graduated and they never talked about xrefs in college...now I'm working and I looked so dumb at work for not knowing this. Thanks so much.
This are the kind of creature we need in this life, someone who havent used AutoCAD before must understand this, very concise, brief,no too much talking, straight to the business..May God bless you for changing people lives for good.
This is still a really good, concise and informative tutorial. I need to use xrefs for the first time and this told me everything I needed to know. Thank you!
Thanks. Been a while since Ive used ACAD and Im trying to get a new job that requires these skills. Great job breaking it all down. Excellent refresher course for me.
I may be late... but honestly.... I don't think I have ever been so impressed with a you tube tutorial. Very detailed, very clear and easy to follow. Thanks for sharing and the time invested.
Dave, thanks for the feedback, it's much appreciated. From experience, I've found that this area of AutoCAD is by far the most misunderstood and feared by beginners, but once it's broken down to a simple example it makes a bit more sense.
I've been using CAD for over 13 years.... and I'm embarrassed to say it..... since AutoCAD 14. I have been gravely underutilizing the core features of even Vanilla AutoCAD. Where I work currently has opened up my eyes to how AutoCAD SHOULD be used, and I sometimes feel as though I'm starting all over.... Unfortunately at a time when I'm slowly making the transition to Revit. But thanks again.
i never knew about XREFS... thank u so much was searching for a job they're requirement was MUST HAVE A EXP IN XREF.. for a second i thought XREF is a software then i googled it... and im here... thank u for explaining this...
Really good explaination of XREF command and uses. i never worked on Xref before, now it willbe very helpful and tips on eTransmite ,binding etc. are useful .Thanks.
You all probably dont give a damn but does anybody know of a method to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow forgot the login password. I would appreciate any help you can give me!
@Saul Justice thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and I'm in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Make sure that both drawings are at the same scale. You may need to scale the XREF up. The figure of 0.0394 suggestes that the XREF has been drawn in feet & inches and I presume you're working in metric. I'd suggest scaling the XREF file up by a factor of 25.4 (1 divided by 0.0394 = 25.4) and that should solve your problem. You might want to take a look at my video on how to convert Imperial drawings to metric. Once you've scaled your drawing correctly it should insert ok.
is there some way when doing binding, to explode the block? So if I want to copy something that everything does not copy, just the few items I want to select.
I am trying to use xref but Block unit is by default coming to be in mm and the scale by default is coming to be 0.0394. I am unable to change it on the dialogue box. I am using AutoCAD 2013. Any suggestion?
