This is a lifesaver - the insta360 pro 2 footage was almost unusable in a headset in stereoscopic 360, but this has helped significantly improve it. No surprise that insta now need to offer a free 3 month subscription to Mistika VR - it should be a lifetime subscription really!
Camera recording app never write a prefect 3D video ready to be published. You will need to calibrate it all the time. It is a little untold secret in the 3D community that we found from experience.
it is such a pain to calibrate each video manually, I can never just stay on 1 preset between shots, likely due to the lens shifting ever so slightly when it moves around, so seing such a refined auto calibrate makes mistika even better. I hope this also helps the many badly calibrated vr180 videos i find on the platforms, often you see some are not even horizontally level.
Totally agree. So a dedicated VR180 tutorial is coming next (prob tomorrow) as my tutorial is getting way too long on this one. You will see how thing work on VR180 as well.
@@hughhou oh nice, legend. looking forward to it, i use mistika to render footage quickly, but have not been aware of this update, so technically this video sold me already. Still I am sure your dedicated vr180 tutorial will help more to see vr180's potential.
Hi Hugh, is this on Mistika 10.5.1? I have Jun 3 build (most recent I can get off SGO site) and the magic stitch button is not showing. Thanks again for your great work.
It is not out yet! The official release date is Wednesday in 2 days. I am always running ahead of schedule to bring the good news first. VR180 workflow is launching with the release. This only cover 3D 360 :)
Love your videos, man! Trying to find the answer to one question. Is it possible to stitch a panning (nodal) shot inside a stitched 360 video. Example: I shoot a few nodal video shots that I stitch in Mistika, and then, using the same nodal reference point (not moving the tripod), I film a panning shot (example, someone moving around). Can I stitch that over the other ones with some kind of 3D tracking? Thx!
Hey, thanks for the great video. I’m trying to find raw video footage from multiple cameras or at least two (like in insta 360 evo) to practise my stitching skills for the future project. Unfortunately with no result, do you have any tips where I can find any footage to practice with?
Great video! I'm just about to start my three month trial of Mistika VR. I've been shooting some tests in i-log on the Pro2, but you mention in this video that i-log causes banding. I thought i-log was supposed to be better for coloring in post, but do you suggest NOT shooting in i-log? I'm confused. Thanks in advance 😀
At this point yes. I do not suggest iLog as Insta360 does not have a correct log curve on all their camera. It will still give you more dynamic range but it is hard to grade and create banding which you need to deal with that in post in Resolve. So I personally do not shoot iLog - but experitment yourself to find the best workflow that work for you
Hugh! All your videos are awesome thank you. Question for you. What SD cards do you use for the Insta 360 pro 2? I bought the memory card kit from them and after 35 minutes of recording I get a write-speed error.
If you purchased a SanDisk memory card, you can try to use the format memory card function on the machine again, remember to format all memory cards and test the speed
@@黄东东-f2l I have format of the memory cards four times on my PC (the slow way). When you say format them on the “machine “do mean the Insta pro2? I didn’t even know it could do that. And I’d like to say you have been a lot more help than the support team over at Insta pro. They just asked me to make sure the memory card was the right speed. I bought the memory card off of them for the camera. The card has their logo on it.
@@BoardGameCoffee Yes, you will need to format them in camera before each use (use the menu in the LED display). But I believe those are just SanDisk relabelled by Insta360. I do recommend start with format them on your PC using SDFormater (I believe that is what it called - the free software to slow format your SD, not your PC disk utility). I hope it help.
Really interesting videos always Hugh Hou, now I start filming 360 videos in the most attractive places in Paris for my YT channel as well, but I need to learn more from you. Pls, let me know if need any volunteers to support any of your projects.
Wow, we just shot in Paris and everything in post production. If you have any drone 360 shot of Eiffel tower or any drone of Paris - we would love collab on our next travel series :)
So sad that we didn't met in person. The whole metropolitan area of Paris is no fly zone. For other area without drone for sure I can support you. Feel free to contact me if you need further assistance.
Meta CV1 is new and I am not 100% sure there is a LUT at this time. Mistika VR Connect is the first application adopted this color space as SGO Mistika work with Meta closely. This color space also should be view inside Meta brand VR headset. Resolve is not official supporting the newer headset. I have no contact over blackmagic. Wish someone can connect me with their engineer team to work on a more streamline color workflow for VR film releasing.
