Nice review👌I am very interested to see the performance of the 80/2 with the Kipon speedboosted adapter, so that the angle of view is closer to what it was originally on 645 film. Any chance you could do a video of that? I'm sure plenty of people would be interested!
Cool video's I'm shooting the full Contax 645 set on my GFX except the 350. Just got the KIPON AF speedbooster which made it even better love the combo
Thank you for the great, and very helpful, review! I already have the Steelsring II adapter, which I purchased some time ago at the same time that I purchased the 120mm ƒ4.0 makro. I have been wanting to get the 80mm for a long time, but it seemed that all the nice ones were over $3,000; too much for me. Your Target Price made me feel much better about the one I purchased today on eBay. I found an 80mm in near mint condition for $2,138, delivered, from a store in Japan. I think it's the same store that I got the 120mm from. But anyway, I know I have purchased from them before. I had the GF110mm for a while, but I found that I rarely used it. It was too heavy to carry around, and it made an annoying noise all the time. I think it had something to do with the AF motor constantly checking on things.
@@HeritageFocus Love to see a comparison with this and the Mitakon 1.4. Slightly unfair, but that lens does get mad props considering its price. Aesthetically no comparison, but that of course means little... it's the final image that counts... :)
Would be nice to show compassion with the native lenses. It is not a cheap solution so should be much better than GF 80mm f1.7 to make it worthwhile IMHO.
You can pick up a brand new GF 80mm f/1.7 for $1,850. Paying twice that for character you could pretty easily add with post-processing (or with the amazing Fuji simulations) doesn't seem sensible -- not that I don't love old-glass character! What am I missing?
Agreed! It's a great lens, but one really needs to value that particular look and character. From my research, it's mainly portrait / wedding photographers who value this and use it as a differentiator in their images / look. If you're just going to go on a vacation or shoot around town, the 80 1.7 is probably the way to go.
@@thebitterfig9903 i went there and came back to the C645 body with digital backs. i dont like the BSI sony sensors, they have some weird look to my eyes. autofocus improves alot on the gfx system but i dont use autofocus anyway
