I figured out how to control Volume with this plugin. Go into configuration of the plugin and change Brightness to Yes and Service Type from Switch to Light. Then in Apple Home app it will show up as a dimmable light. This will allow you to adjust brightness (Volume). Works great. Now I think I can create playlists using the Alarm function.

Always like your video. I think the Sonos is Natively support by HomeKit. Is there any advantage to do it using homebridge?

Only the Speakers with AirPlay 2 are natively supported via HomeKit. If you have older speakers, you can't control them via HomeKit. Also for grouping rooms etc. AirPlay 2 doesn't work really consistent and is causing some grouping and playback issues.

The sonos alarm is bound to a specific time so i can`t generate something if i push a button then activate this sonos alarm which will trigger some radio station as example. In the plugin description is the following: "Control of input selection per group, from Sonos favourites and local sources, like LineIn, Airplay; " Someone got this working? I don`t get the speakers as speakers. Only switch or light is working.

Will the playlist play if you engage it during the hour time slot that you set for it? Say you have your 2 p.m. playlist but you went out to lunch. You are back home at 2:20 p.m., will it play in that hour? slot?

If your Sonos speaker supports AirPlay 2, you can pair it with HomePods using Apple’s AirPlay 2 multi room audio. Some of my Sonos speakers support AirPlay 2 but not all.

Good stuff Eric. While it’s not directly connected to the topic of your video, It’s close enough for me to say: HomePod Mini HomePod Mini HomePod Mini #Apple needs to offer a #HomePod Mini! Having to jump thru a bunch of Apps and use HomeBridge/Hoobs to get multi-room audio is just silly. Maybe one of the Social Media monitoring robots at Apple will pay attention and realize that if they release a

I agree a HomePod mini would be nice. I love my HomePod stereo pair in my living room. But just buying a lot of HomePods at any size or price is too closed and limited of an ecosystem for what many people want/need in home audio. This is why I think Sonos will continue to be around for a dedicated audience.

I am sorry, Eric, but this is the first time I find your video to be really too complicated for me. I have learned a lot from you over the past year(s), but I would like it better if you would cater more to starters. I am slowly starting to turn my home into a smart home. With limited means and limited tech knowledge. I am “trapped” in the Apple ecosystem though. 😅
