In this DaVinci Resolve Academy Tutorial, Erwan Le Cloirec will teach us how to automatically manage the volume of a music with a voice over track. This technic is called “Audio Ducking” and it will be available inside the Fairlight page.

@@motionvfx It would be fantastic if you could somehow use a similar technique to do mixing between two tracks of dialogue. The issue is that often when you have an interview the voice of speaker A bleeds to the mic of speaker B. The above mentioned technique works only when one track needs to be lowered but does not really work when tracks need to lower one another. I have tried using a gate to not very good effect. I am not a professional audio engineer though and my bag of tricks is light :). Perhaps you could come up with something more elegant. I am aware that there a plugins that do that but perhaps it can be done without. PS. There are literally no direct tutorials on RU-vid for this so perhaps you can also be the first ;).

I have uplfting cinematic music in my track some how i still get music peaks when the person is breathing eclven thou ive set the hold to 4000ms

How come I can't get the threshold to work. I already set the voice over audio to "send" and the Music to "listen" and adjusted the threshold to -40 on the music track but it is not reducing the music when the voice over is on.

I find that the volume goes down too abruptly when I start talking. Is there a way for the volume to start decreasing *before* I start to talk?

Premiere does this much better. This "workaround" with compression etc. doesn't get even close to the results you get with Adobes method and it's less practical.
