Simple automatic vertically swinging cradle.
Components:
1. Spring cradle : This can be bought from the local market: Make sure to buy the hanger also as shown in the video.

3. Geared motor (Any of the below)
a. Geared Motor 60 RPM - 12V Low quality www.electronic...
Clamp for above geared motor : www.electronic...
b. Geared motor, 60 RPM - 12V High quality ( recommended ): www.electronic...
: Clamp for the same might not be available in the website. The above clamp can be used with some modifications or you can build your own.
How to build ?
============
This doesn't need extensive electronic knowledge. Just an interest in electronics is enough.
I built this in 2020 for my daughter and I couldn't provide a description for the video then. Watch the video a couple of times. The set up is self-explanatory. I recommend to buy components from the above website.
1. Mounting the motor and wheel under the cot is the tricky part for this set-up. Screw the clamp in such a way that the wheel is aligned close to the cot side.
2. We need an object which has two holes. One hole is to mount a screw on the edge of the wheel and another hole is to tie the rope of the cradle.(stainless steel object attached to the wheel in the video. I found it from my scrap yard)
3. Make a small hole on any point of the edge of the wheel and screw the above object. This object should be freely rotating while this wheel rotates.
4. Remove one spring from the cradle. This is to make sure that the spring action is seamless. You can add the other spring later as your Baby grows (Refer video)
5. Adjusting the rope length is an important step. The swing can be adjusted by adjusting the rope's tight/loose adjustment with the wheel. :)
6. A clip can be added in the rope to immediately remove the cradle from the wheel. (Black object in the video in the middle of the rope)
7. I recommend using the High quality geared motor which lasts long, but we have to build a custom clamp for that. This motor is still with me.
The low quality motor lasted only one month for me. This motor can be easily attached to the clamp with the inbuilt big nuts that comes with the motor.
8. A 12v variable DC adapter can be used to power the motor. Adjusting the voltage plays an important role in the speed of spring action. I have an old DC adapter and the output voltage can be varied from 1v to 12v.
9. Put a safety rope between the spring (A green rope in this video). This will help to hang the baby safely in case the spring breaks. (Elasticity of the spring decreases after some months)
10. Connect these components together, connect the power and place a weight on the cradle to simulate the working. :) .In my case a laptop bag with a laptop was the weight.
11. Once everything works fine, start cradling the baby. Make sure the set-up is 100% safe.
Hope this helps.. Add comments if you have any further doubts or concerns.
