Your challenge Jim, should you accept it is.....l 1. Take this cracking piece of technology from Trafalgar Wharf to Cowes and back this coming Bank Holiday Monday. 2. Use the Portsmouth Harbour Small Boat Channel at 1030 for departure and 1600 for return. 3. Cowes should be entered via the Main Channel, travel to south UKSA and cross the chain ferry both ways. Then depart through the small boat channel. If you make it through that challenge unscathed and the vessel unmarked by scratches and no reports about unsafe driving back to QHM or to Cowes Harbour Master. Then, and only then, you can term it truly autonomous! Best of luck chaps and chapesses 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 [EDIT]: for those of you not versed in the leisure boating world that inhabits Portsmouth Harbour, it’s a mish mash of rule followers, rule breakers and “I didn’t know there were any rules?” The latter group are about to increase exponentially as rather than going abroad they’re buying boats. Remember in UK you don’t need a qualification/licence/training to use a vessel - you just need MONEY.....

As a very old ex army bloke may I ask why the RN doesn't seem to have hydrofoils? Or at least not that I've seen on YT. In fact does any Navy have them?
