In this video I return to Loch Chon in the Trossachs, a few weeks after my last visit to see if the autumnal colours had begun to show. I was not disappointed!

Beautiful work by you Sir. Just to let you know that after this video the loch has been renamed Loch Log 😂.

hahaha! Thanks! I made 3 or 4 attempts at saying that and the one in the video was the best!! No idea why I couldn't get that out!

Although it was a shame about the wind messing up the reflections, the colours were amazing. I was quite taken with the shot of the tree by the loch with the little yellow fern. It had a touch of the mystical about it. I think those lovely trees would look amazing in the mist.

Thanks Dianne. Yeh, it was a pity about the reflections. I nearly went back this morning as it looked like there might be some mist, but I ended up at another location I've visited recently instead

Another great vlog John and another stunning location. What I really enjoy with all your vlogs is how you go to the trouble of explaining how you arrived at each of your compositions and where you place all the elements within the scene to produce your shots. Keep up the great work.👍👍

the shot with the grasses in the foreground, the reflection of the clouds look like they have been painted onto the water.

Well worth the return, John, a beautiful area and you kept the best till last, that tree gave you some lovely images. I was down at Ness Glen a few days ago and have never seen such brilliant Autumn colours, the season had definately been extended by quite a few weeks this year.

Thanks Douglas. I was hoping to get down to Ness Glen this week but it's looking doubtful now due to other commitments.

from that wee bay or out on a boat? I've seen quite a few anglers around there in the past. You catch much?

You're in danger of becoming known as 'Old Log McKenna'. Some crackin' views. Loch with the grasses and the big tree at the end worked best, for me. Still without transport so I'm having to make the best of local stuff (eSure, useless insurance company), can't really complain that I have to walk for fifteen minutes to shoot waterfalls though.

I should really get your number as i was up at the pulpit again this morning. Had it to myself for a while. Thought it too early to email and it was a last minute decision. (If there had been any cars in the car park i was driving on to Balmaha or returning to climb Dumgoyne!)

I'll email it to you. I was walking up to the local shop this afternoon (Sunday) and a young Chinese guy got off the bus came over and showed me a photo and said 'I want to walk up that hill, can you tell me where ?'. 'That's Conic Hill, you're miles away Pal'. I ended up doing a photo walk of my village with him for three hours. He was in thin mess white trainers, so I was having to pick the least muddy paths to let him get photo's of anything worth shooting. Poor guy, just turned up on spec from an inaccurate internet posting. Made sure he got the bus back to Stirling before nightfall. Strange Day. He was fascinated by Scottish sheep ... and our diet ! @@JohnMcKennaPhotography

haha - that's a bit random. Funnily enough, the only person I spoke with today at the Pulpit was an American submariner who had a couple of days off after some time in Faslane. I ended up chatting for a while and giving him some suggestions about places to visit before he flies home to Seattle tomorrow. Stirling was on the list!

I was at the Pulpit about a month ago, about two days after the heavy rain. The water had already gone through. Had the place to myself 7:30 -8:30 am but it was a Wednesday. Has the big tree root cleared from being jammed against the pulpit by yesterday ?@@JohnMcKennaPhotography

There seemed to be a lot of trees all around the pulpit and around the base of the steps (from the top of the gorge looking down). I didn't go down there today, as the whole point of todays trip was to walk to the end, down into the gorge then see how far back up the gorge I could walk. (it wasn't very far!) I had planned to go back down the stairs afterwards but by the time I was finished with what I was doing the Lomond Mountain Rescue were training around there so I didn't want to interfere with their work.
