We enjoy the fall season in Alaska in the garden harvesting cabbage, carrots, celery and more. After cleaning and processing our produce, they are ready for our unique storage spaces. We make sauerkraut for the winter months and try an Italian celery meatball dish with fresh grouse and homemade creamy sorrel pesto.
Tuscan Celery Balls Recipe - memoriediangel...
*changes made - 1 small yellow onion added with celery (included in boiling) and sourdough breadcrumbs were used
We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure 😀

Am sorry to hear that bandit is not doing to well. Ever since bo passed away. I know it's hard see your dogs get older and know they won't be with ya'll much longer. Am 66 we always had some kind of animal for pets. Even though you know that they don't live as long as us. They become more than just pets their family. Enjoy what time you have. Love ya'll videos. May God keep blessing ya'll

You have to remember they are on solar and generator. I have often thought it would be nice for them, but having one, they run for a long time. So, they would need a whole separate system with a stand alone 20 AMP plug.

What an amazing harvest you had. The carrots are awesome- great colours. Those sprouts are quite special too, my most favourite vegetable, the cabbage are huge . We in the UK well my husband at least earths up the celery to get nice white/ palest green stalks. Sometimes he wraps the stalks in cardboard instead of earthing up around them. I really like a lighter stalk. Poor Bandit I hope he starts to feel a little better real soon ❤. Thanks for sharing ❤

Root veg, like carrots and parsnips will get sweeter after a few frosts. If you covered them with hay, they could probably stay in the ground until somewhere around mid Oct in your climate. From Texas A&M: "Cabbage head splitting can be avoided by keeping the soil uniformly moist near harvest time. Splitting can also be prevented by root pruning the plant about the time the heads mature. This can be done by cultivating near the plant or simply twisting the plant to break some of the roots."

Couple of things you might like to try . With the leeks put them in deeper you get a larger white section which is more tender than the green. You could try dry storing root vegetables in 'clamps' which are piles of dry soil or sand layered with the root veg, it's a traditional way of storing root veg here in UK, you can use wooden boxes or barrels as well, it's important that the soil/sand is dry.

Great show!! What a productive garden, y’all are fundamentally (jack’s of all trades), is there anything that you can’t accomplish? Have you tried to make a gin using the spruce tips you gather. You might as well run a “still”, you do everything else and seems like you have a lot of extra time off😂😂😂. Thank you for the show

As always another wonderful video. Definitely going to have to try those meatballs they looked amazing. Was going to say the rule of thumb for sauerkraut is a Tbsp of salt for every 4 cups of cabbage. Absolutely love to make sauerkraut and there is a big difference between green and the purple cabbage. Also love to add caraway seeds in with it as well. Take care and have a blessed week ahead. Now patiently waiting for the next video. Love y'all ❤️🍀 Blessings, Teresa 🦉
