Yeah the amount of thunder resistance doesn't really matter for at Kirin I fought him with 30 thunder resistance and he was still one shoting me

@@willbailey8 Usually I would say pop on temporal and thunderproof but depends how end game you are. I'm hr 300+ so can confirm if you just upgrade armour to max no aug to remove cap you can survive 1 or 2 lightning strikes. The rest is avoiding them which comes with experience but just bow or lbg him and take your time.

Yep! Once you pick up enough, their outline on the map becomes green (or fluctuates green and purple/red for (arch-)tempered monsters) and you can see when they're exhausted and near-death.

So basically like any other monster hunter game

If you use 3 parts of the Kusha Armor Set, the effects of Kusha's wind are completely negated, making Kusha almost pathethic when thought with melee (shown here twitter.com/MrEinFan/status/1048986069339971584 ). Now, this is with Tempered Kusha. As I play on PC, we do not have Arch Tempered Elders (yet), but we got a modpack that gives us "High Tempered Monsters" which seem, from what I have seen, actually stronger than Arch Tempered Elders, though no garantuee on that. With that mod, Kusha is still a challenge, as the increased Flash Pod resistance made me think of other strategies, aka not immediately flashing it, but flashing it only after it goes to sleep to not have the deadly tornados even appear. On top of that switching to a High-Damage Build to wake it up, and using a Farcaster to switch back to my Longsword Set (like here twitter.com/MrEinFan/status/1048907770106454016 ). For Kirin, Lightning Resist is not as important as Anti-Para and Anti-Stun. Against even TED's, Para and Stuns are pretty much death sentences, especially when going Hunter Only. As for Lightning Resist, 20 SHOULD be enough, as it completely negates Thunderblight. Now, as a Longsword User for almost 300 horus ingame and 48 Kirin's (including High Tempered and Normal Tempered Kirin's), i can hit my Parries of the Foresight Slash very confidently like HIJEK has shown in his Crap Guide where he totally hit every Foresight Slash, just didn't bother to show it. My point is, I can stay close to Kirin confidently, even when charged up, cause the Spirit Blade Combo can not bounce off... just don't forget your Thunderproof mantles, because some of Kirin's attacks are a bitch, as they can easily catch during a Helmsplit for example. Some people would probably recommend to even completely forget using the Helmsplit because of that. Teostra, Fire Resist is good to make sure you are not getting set ablaze while being near it. However, Teostra actually has 2 forms of powering up, Blast Form and Fire Form, pretty easily distinguishable by wether he is on fire or is throwing sparks around. When it is the latter, you can get hit by blastblight just by being near it. It's not the worst thing, but I recommend getting Blast Resistance for just not letting it happen in the first place. I cover the Fire Resistance with the Canteen. Also interesting, the Supernova seems to deal either more Fire Damage or Blast Damage depending on the form. In general, it seems like the Blast Form Supernova does more damage though. For Vaal, just like you said, it is the best to bring a weapon with HEalth Regen Augment. I use a longsword (big surprise) for this and usually the Effluvia can't reduce my health at all, as Vaal is just pretty easy to read. Watch out for the Deathbreath-Ray though, it does way more damage than it looks like. Also, his tailswipe keeps hitting me somehow, haha...

Does building defense against them really help that much? I’ve found more success in building all offense and just dodging their attacks.

"Just dodge" is obviously viable, but the issue is, that this is easier said than done with certain weapontypes. Get hit, get stunned/paralyzed and you are dead. This obviously is not an issue if you can chainstun a monster like "Pro-Players" do, but that is not an enjoyable way to play for me (This is why maxed out Defense Boost and HEalth Boost are always a stable in my builds) . In fact, I love this "High Tempered Monsters" Mod, because Monsters don't die that fast and you actually have to deal with their attacks no matter how much damage/flashpods you can dish out. But yeah, All Offense can work, too. It's the beauty of Monster Hunter that you can have that many options. Another thing is that with "building defense", not only numeric value defense is meant. As I mentioned before, Resistances are very important as well. If you want to make a High Melee Damage Build against a Kushala Daora, good luck trying to hit your biggest attack cause Kusha will literally blow you everytime you try it (unless you constantly use flashes, which at some point he will become fully resistant against, if you can't kill him in that time...well.. good luck). My Kusha build also has Evade Extender in it, which is a massive help when you get stuck inside a tornado, cause his Set Bonus may negate his winds, but does not make you immune to the damage those tornadoes cause.
