This is beautiful, the France country side is just stunning! I loved it when I was there many years ago and I have to say it's even more beautiful, thank you so much for sharing.
Hi 🎉. Really enjoyed watching your lovely video. Really hope you are well and having a great Saturday and weekend 🎉. A big thumbs up from Chris and Jane 🎉🎶☀️
The architecture at the Abbey of Orval is just stunning, especially with those massive pillars! 😮✨It's so wonderful to see you sharing the beauty and peace of this place, Anita. The Abbey's history is truly captivating. When you find a tree so big, it takes two people to hug it! 🌳🤗 Thank you for sharing this beautiful place with us! The history and the peaceful vibes are just what we needed today 🙏.
Thank you for that lovely comment. Oh yes that tree- I wanted to hug it but it was just so huge. The whole ruins aspect was mind blowingly awesome. I tried to keep the video short 🤣🤣! Next one is less long but just as stunning. Thanks for the support. Have a great weekend. 👌🇳🇱🙋♀🥝
Looks quite the place and couldn't have asked for a better day to visit. Can't complain when it's hot, well certainly not here in UK. Tuesday sounds like a good day to visit to avoid the crowds. I like to avoid those if I can. You made good use of the history telling within the abbey. It even put subtitles up for you. I'd be angling to get up to the top of that beautiful tower if I could. Great tour. I've not been to France for many a year
Thank Paul- Oh subtitles aye? Hmmm might be handy for some people then. Well it was mid 30's and barely a breeze- but like you said, don't complain 🤣🤣! The tower wasn't open for visiting unfortunately. That view would have been awesome. As we plan our Autumn break right past the Autumn school holidays that first week is generally quite relaxed. Then the rest of the grey brigade start arriving 🤣! It is a lot more pleasant though - crowd wise. Thanks for the support and wishing you a sunny Sunday. 😎🇳🇱🙋♀🥝
Mon Dieu !! Anita. What a wonderful story of the history of the Abbey and so cool that they built the new Abbey alongside the ruins of the old one. The stone work, arches and ornate columns certainly highlighted the workmanship of that era. Meci my friend. 👌😊❤
Haha, indeed Mon Dieu Paul. This was SO BIG and beautiful. Amazing history and despite the destruction to keep rebuilding - wow what a story. Those columns - you just wonder how they managed building like this all those centuries ago. Thanks for watching Paul. Enjoy the weekend. 🩷🇳🇱🙋♀🥝
Anita what a beautiful tour of the abbey d'orval...what a lovely place to start at the gift shop...thank you for sharing the history and all the beautiful grounds and ruins with us...such a hot day...looking forward to part two Anita...thanks for taking me along today!
Glad you enjoyed it Donna. It was such a stunning place to visit. I was blown away by the size of it all. Felt like a little Lego person. Thanks for the support Donna. Have a great weekend. ❤🇳🇱🙋♀️🥝
Hi Anita, what a gorgeous clear blue sky 💙 The abbey was absolutely stunning. I enjoyed the legend of how the abbey was founded 💍🐟. It was wonderful that the abbey was reconstructed during the last century. The gardens were so attractively laid out. It looked very tranquil. Thank you for a fascinating and thoroughly enjoyable video ❤🤗 🌼
@@The_Brit_Girls hi there Julie and Lucy. Thanks so much for the comment. It was indeed an amazing visit. Loved walking through the history. The story was amazing. We don’t build them like that anymore. Have a great weekend. 😎🇳🇱🙋♀️🥝

Hi Anita! You are so right! Abbaye de Orval was awesome! Absolutely beautiful! I really enjoyed watching your video, as if I was travelling with you! 😉 Like 13 19:27💖
This was so massive and yet fragile. I loved roaming around here despite the heat. Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate the support. Have a happy weekend. 👌🇳🇱🙋♀🥝
@@grandmakathysartventure2300 So glad you enjoyed the video Kathy. That’s the great thing about YT isn’t it. We can travel from the comfort of our own chair. Thanks for watching. Enjoy your day. 🩷🇳🇱🤣🥝
I so agree about the mind boggling August. I stand there and look up in awe at what people were capable of without all our modern equipment. And that it still stands is incredible. Thanks for watching. Have a lovely Sunday. 👌🇳🇱🙋♀🥝
@@annebelo1186 Thank you Anne. Yes even the name has a special ring to it. What a special visit this was. Loved it. I appreciate your support. Thank you 🙏🇳🇱🙋♀️🥝

Hi Anita! That Abby and the ruins was really something to see!! Definitely worth the stop on your trip through France.... Looking forward to more interesting finds!
@@TravelwithNJSteveandSue it was a most impressive visit. Roaming between the ruins and learning about the history was overwhelming. And it was hot as. Lovely day all the same. Thanks for the support. Happy weekend. 😎🇳🇱🙋♀️🥝
I’ve never been to France Anita, Jill has, I was kind of brought up to “not like the French”. That being said there is so many places that seem cool there to see. Thanks to you and a handful of other RU-vidrs it is going up on my list. Debs and Phil swear by it too. So much history and a lot of culture, I think you have really helped put this on my list. The ruins were spectacular ❤
Wow, I'm flattered. And if you want to know more - we went in 2019 and 2022 as well. You ay have missed a few videos then. I have to say our 2022 still has a soft spot in my memory bank. The 2023 trip hasn't even seen the editing table 🤣🤣! The UK has fabulous castles and lovely architecture- and so do the French- so different and as intriguing. Debs and Phil? You'll have to tell me where I can find them. Thanks Nick - I have quite a bit more to share. Looking forward to regurgitating my memories. 🤣 Have a lovely weekend. 👌🇳🇱🙋♀🥝🍷
@@IamaDutch-Kiwi Northumberland has more castles than any other county in England. We have lots of ruined abbeys and priories too. Ask Dara about Dunstanburgh Castle.
@@CarolandDerek hi friends. Thanks for watching. Yes we are well thanks. Had a wildly busy week. The Abbaye was mind blowing. A great day roaming amongst the stones of yesteryear. Have a great weekend. 😎🇳🇱🙋♀️🥝
Lovely trip Anita 🥰🙏 Many beautiful places along the way. I remember driving with my ex husband from Sweden to Paris, slept one night in Helsingborg, Amsterm and 3 nights in Wassenaar, 3 nights in Belgium and then 2 in Paris. It was so fun to see different styles houses. But I like Dutch houses the most!! Thank you for a nice clip! I really enjoyed sightseeing with you online ❤❤❤
Yes, Europe has such diversity Maia in architecture. Makes the driving through each country most interesting. You've seen some lovely places - I hope you get to see more when the opportunity arrises. Have a lovely weekend. 👌🇳🇱🙋♀🥝
@@IamaDutch-Kiwi This’s why it’s hard for me to be somewhere else! So many interesting cultures. I spent 24 years in Europe, but still can’t see all places I wish!
Beautiful location to visit! Is it fully a museum now? Or newer buildings are still used as a monastery? That art installation towards the end of the video looked really cool. Like a giant plant roots reclaiming the building back into the nature.
@@AudroneStorm how wonderful to hear from you. I checked your channel a short time ago and saw you hadn’t posted for a while. Million thanks for the lovely comment and yes, that art work was most amazing. It sort of anchored the ruins to the ground as it were. The ruins were spectacular. Have a wonderful weekend Audrone. 🙏🇳🇱🙋♀️🥝
You're driving on the wrong side of the road!! 😲Everyone knows that the left side is the right side. At 1:46 you were driving on the right left side. 😁 Did you sea any fish in the lake?? 2:14 I didn't see a 'You are Here' on the map. Perhaps you weren't there at all? 3:07 on the door. 'Beware. Scottie dogs in hamster wheels stealing phones' 3:16 Doctor Who's Tardis. (He finally got the chameleon circuit working) 3:41 Let me guess what the shop sells? Honey, preserves, guide books and candles and since it's France, some wine made by monks. (Same thing in churches everywhere) 5:38 Before they put the arrow there did people just climb over the wall in front of them? 5:56 Those short videos are everywhere too. Does anyone actually stop and watch them all the way through...(edit)...apart from you? Funny how ruins are far more interesting than complete standing buildings. I think so anyway. 16:51 Calm down Anita. Think of your blood pressure. 🚑🚑
@@Poliss95 1:46 I was walking trying to spot the fish 2:14 lesson in French: tu es ici 3:07 🤣 3:16 wooden version of his Tardis 5:38 the arrow was so you wouldn’t miss the show inside 🤪 5:56 yes I had to wait my turn all screens were occupied 🫣 16:51 it was stunning and hot Boppy. Worth the OOOOH factor Thanks for the great comments. I can tell you enjoyed the video. Have a great weekend Boppy. 👌🇳🇱🙋♀️🥝
