I love watching All creatures with my dad and always admired their knitwear! I always smile when I see Mrs. Hall sit down with her knitting in the show. I'm definitely going to take inspiration from the croftercore genre when I get around to making a sweater for my dad!

I remember that swatch and have patiently been waiting to see what you do with it... ;) Those fair isle caps, I think I'd call them stocking caps? Mind you, why not Wee Willie WInkie?!! The farmers in the mountains near here wear black tasselled ones as part of their everyday "crofter" look, along with too-short dark brown trousers, edelweiss-woven shirts and big black boots...

Oh my goodness!! I like your choices and my colors are autumnal too. Sorry to say, the all over colorwork cardigans, sweaters, and vests are really not our fashion in the U.S. 😢. I'm probably the only one to wear colorwork berets. I wanted to also say, "I love your sweater swatch color choice!" I don't remember the sweater name, but it's going to look beautiful!

Another southern hemisphere knitter here (Australia) so I’m finishing my last warm knit (the Klimt Wrap) and starting the Nevalli Tee that did the rounds a few summers ago. I also do quite a bit of gift knitting at Xmas so there’s a queue of next winter accessories stacking up and ready to start on 😊 I also misplace swatch info regularly, even when I note it down, my solution was this: a lot of yarn stores here often send a thank you card with online orders and if there’s plenty of white space I cut them into tags, punch a hole in them and note needle size, yarn details, and if it’s under or over gauge and then tie it to the swatch. It’s a bit of naff faff to go to I know, but I am an actual granny so I think I’m allowed! It’s the only foolproof method for me of finding my info by the time I get around to actually starting the project. Great content, love watching and knitting and being inspired by you 😊

I'm starting a Fair Isle skirt this season, not expected to be completed until next year. I am old enough to remember the old James Herriot series from the 1980s (70s?) as a child. Still one of my favorite book series as well, notwithstanding the knits!

I currently trying to finnish my Tip Top Tank by Designed by Emily Bolduan © Maker Maker 2022. But I'm hoping to start a Marie Wallen pattern for fall/winter the Finch Fairisle it was a free pattern on Lovecraft which kinda fits into to Croft core. Something I'm interested in knitting is the Falling Leaves jumper by Iris H and a Talvinen by Caitlin Hunter and 194-10 Cathedral Windows by Drops Design.

I watched one of your 'ask me anything podcasts where you say you loved Hairdtessing . I am a hairdresser and tied the love to yarn and colouring . It's all so very similar , the feel of the hair / wool , and the designs and styling , also choosing colours and the result . So , I spin , natural dye ( for myself) , then knit . If you are able to see who watches your podcasts , you will notice that I have probably watched all of yours for the past week . 💞💞💞💞💞

Love all the patterns you’ve chosen - am currently knitting a all over colour work tank for my sisters birthday (the motifs are very traditional but the colours are more ‘granny on acid’), when I finished that I’m hoping to start ailbiona’s timepiece jumper with the sailor collar and a Sophie scarf, they really do look great. I’m going for the 1940s/spinster/landgirl/librarian/crofter look!

Emma your new knit is gorgeous! I love this video. My thoughts on the colourwork crofter’s style knits-the crofter/knitter would have had a basket of all kinds of bits from the “necessaries”! I’m thinking of the dead of winter and them being inspired to mix colours to brighten their day and make good utility of all those scraps; of course ensuring there were still some for mending the necessaries! Can’t wait to see your studio Reno. ❤️

Did you ever find out that the thing about the goats in South Africa was all crap . This man came to SA knowing nothing about goats and filmed them while they were being sheared . Of course , what he didn't realise was that the goats ALL scream like babies when being sheared , but they do that , not because they're getting upset . They do that all the time anyway when being even petted or dipped , or being herded . The man destroyed the mohair production in SA at that time as greenpeace got hold of his video and the farmers really suffered here as did the workers on the farms . I. . I suppose though , by now, you know that the goats make that noise not because they're being hurt . I just had to say this and hope that you're fine with it .
