I’m currently a senior in high school and auditioning for a drum corps but I’m also lead trombone in our jazz band. I aspire to be able to play like this.
Delfeayo. My condolences to you and your brothers. Your father left behind a great legacy of great musicians. That includes you and your brothers and Harry connick Jr.. RIP Ellis Marsalis Jr Thank you for the wonderful music
@@iiamgiselleee I started trombone in December and I think I’ve come a long way :) I play both flute and trombone, flute for marching and concert band, and trombone for jazz 😎
Work hard at it the music will bring places you never thought you would travel in this world. Much love to all young people coming up. We need you to continue the music on for us.
Man. That is one buttery trombone! That delicate piano breakout in the middle was great, too! And, of course, both the bass and drums holding down rhythm, were on point! Great work all of you!
Are there any members of the Marsalis family who aren't Great Musicians? Really fine players, too! You guys are right: Really Clean playing; that says it ...except for the inspired improvisation talent, he also has!
Such a beautiful Sound, technique and Swing on your Trombone Delfeayo. I Loved the fact you didn't have to play a million notes to tell a wonderful Story! Continued Success Delfeayo..
The mix sounds awesome. I remember Branford talking about how jazz musicians used to record in large spaces, like churches, for their great acoustics. Everyone sounds so good and swinging on this standard, especially Delfeayo. Thanks for sharing this!
Sounds Beautiful Delfeayo! I give my condolences to you and yours through this hard time. You play awesome and lyrical. Want you to know my kids love the Make America Again album I bought at Snug Harbor.... Be blessed!
this is a classic... studying American culture in the 20's and 30's and Jazz... thanks for this masterpiece... It has a Starbucks kind of lounge coffee vibe to it
My favorite tune! I agree with others’ comments that it’s so nice to hear you play the way you do. So clean, inspired, and fresh, and the acoustics of that sanctuary are a nice touch as well. Great job!
Had the great pleasure of hearing you at Snug Harbor this summer. Came down from Memphis for the weekend. A young guy showed up that night with his xylophone and you let him sit in with the band. That night was the best part of the trip. Even better than the food!
Yes, you really have to want to play to bring down your vibes on spec! That's a BIG compliment if our show beat out the food!!!! Thanks and hope to see you some time.
MARAVILLOSA!!!!! INTERPRETACION!!!! DE TODOS ESTOS EXELENTES!!!! MÚSICOS, DEFINITIVAMENTE SI EN TODO EL MUNDO MÁS PERSONAS ESCUCHARAN ESTÁ HERMOSA MÚSICA, SIN DUDA!!! SERÍA UN MUNDO MEJOR!!!! SALUDOS DESDE LA CD. DE MÉXICO GRACIAS🙏💕
That's the great Ellis Marsalis. I had the privilege of playing with him in the early 2000s at the University of New Orleans. Miss him so much. He passed in 2020 of Covid at age 84
man, congratulations I live in São Paulo, Brazil, I'm really enjoying your sound, here in Brazil we say so: HEAVY SOUND VERY GOOD. come visit us any day.
Beautiful tone with great technique! Sometimes your playing reminds me of my favorites on my instrument, combination of Frankie Rosolino, Carl Fontana, just put a plug in one ear and you'll play in tune. Try it Delfeayo, a ear plug in one ear. Don't let Wynton steal all the glory. Bless your dad, hope he's well.
What i want to be able to do is Transcribe this all by ear, without any books or other transcriptions. Do you think that will help with improvisation even if i am not in jazz band yet? Btw you played amazingly, really good sound and phrases, maybe one day and with practice i can be somewhere near as good as you.
