If there is one person I could sound like on the piano, it's Peter. Can always hear the melody when he plays, his lines are singable and there's always so much joy to his sound which is so easy to hear when you close your eyes...Thank you Peter Martin for sharing your years of work and blessed gift with us :)
I just started learning jazz piano, started with Autumn Leaves, and feel very fortunate to find this channel! Thank you Peter for creating this quality of video for free. All the best from Japan 🇯🇵
Hi peter! Just stopped by to show some love. Am originally from Ghana and have been listening to you since I started playing. You are one of my favorite players. Thanks for your great work
This was great; a video explaining concepts and practice techniques then a different performance video displaying the techniques. If you could do more of these that'd be great!
nice performance! I've been watching your tutorial videos several times and I think they're really helpful. wanna see you playing 'All the things you are' also.
Peter, great job! I just had one particular question. If you were accompanied by a bassist, would play this any differently or would you keep mostly what you did the same? Just wondering. I loved everything you were doing with the bass and would like to play this way a lot, but want to be surely I wouldn’t be clashing with my bassist
Not sure if you’ve seen this within the 2 years that has passed since you commented, but if not, here you go ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eEyLwUfW5uA.html
Yesterday I learned this song thanks to his first piano tutorial. I felt so proud for learning it. Next thing i know he uploaded a second video with a much smoother much more difficult performance and now i feel a fool. Being a begginer jazz pianist sucks haha!
I know what you mean, you feel fairly accomplished in what you do generally with improvisation until you watch this, now I'm depressed! No way will I ever get to this level but the more I study and listen,I'm hoping some of it might mentally sink in and I will get a bit further along this road.
comparing yourself to the one teaching you that has over 40 years of piano playing experience is kinda silly... Being a beginner jazz pianist is great, having false expectations and comparing yourself to a piano master is the bit that sucks!
Thanks,so the bB and #C note is just #9 #11.That's cool ending like this!!

I think it's more like a C7#11,9, with the b9 at the beginning. It's very common tu use a IV7#11 in the endings of minor tunes. But with that b9 at the beginning it sounds very nice!
Ya gotta do a book Pete! the "Art of Solo Jazz Piano." 70+ years of pianists relying on the bass and the drummer, and all I have is me and this lousy computer that can't swing for _____!
