En lisant les commentaires on dirait que tout le monde est expert en montagne, 20 ans de pratiques du ski, 4 avalanches à leur actifs. Dommage que vous soyez meilleurs à ouvrir votre gueule qu'à sauver des vies

Most people think that skiing on piste is 100% safe, it's not, avalanches can still happen on piste. Most likely places a avalanche could happen and most people are unaware is on cat trails, especially if there has been heavy snow. Weaker skiers and snowboarders use cat tracks to get down a mountain safely as they are not skilled enough to go down piste slopes. Cat trails are carved into the side of a mountain, like a ring shape, making buildup of snow on the vertical extremely dangerous and prone to a avalanche. If you have children, never take them into cat trails during and after heavy snow, better stay lower more open piste mountain areas.
@@powderskier5547 but also ya gotta recognize that here in he US there is a lot more thorough avalanche control. It’s extremely unusual here for an inbounds Avalanche. Not so unusual there

Sous une avalanche, tt le monde doit acter, malheureusement, dans cette vidéo, les gens sont 50 sur une face de glacier instable et pas un ne sait quoi faire, après c'est moi qui ditdelamerde, allez jte laisse ds ton monde ou tt est sous contrôle,... Mon pauvre t'es vraiment pas futfut toi mon dieu, premièrement mon bonhomme je vis à la montagne depuis plus de 20 ans donc tu ne vas pas m'apprendre mon métier et ma vie merci, deuxièmement arrête de sortir 50 conneries à la minute en disant qu'après autant de temps ils seront mort ce qui est complètement faux étant donné que nous avons déjà retrouvé des gens ensevelis sous des avalanches après presque 3 heures alors maintenant mon grand retourne apprendre tes cours et ferme là un peu !
FuuZiia sous cette qualité de neige, avec les pinpins qu'il y a au milieu, je dis juste qu'il te faut 3 mins pour t'endormir au co2, après, t'as raison, certaines personnes ont été retrouvées après des heures, d'autres, sans être ensevelies, ont été retrouvé tt de suite, mais, avec la tête dévissé. Rare Other there was an avalanche but in a slope ( that's why there were that much people ) and they were trying to find if they were people under the snow. It turn out the were no victim's but around 10 days after that video 3 or 4 people ( I'm not pretty sure ) died in an another avalanche but out of a slope this time

I think l remember it as 16 buried and all ok. All afternoon there was coach with rescuers coming to help. It brought so memories back. The rescues with the dogs where there in minutes.

It's totally chaos as it's literally just happened. It's on piste so nobody generally carries avi gear with them so that's no probes or transceivers. Don't forget language barrier also. It will be difficult to try organising people who want to dig for their family/friends in the area they were last seen or think were buried. As it stands nobody was buried or hurt or killed which is the main thing.

They’re vacationing, once or twice a year, don’t want to rent or buy the equipment. I skied 2 winters in N. Am in resort. Two groups got hit by avalanches. An acquaintance at another place was buried, 15 min he was unconscious. He’s ok. If I got back into skiing, I’d buy the shovel, air bag, probes, transceiver. That’s just inside resort trails. If I went heli skiing, all of that plus guides.
Presque 7 minutes après l'arrivée du mec qui filme (donc encore plus depuis l'avalanche elle même) pour organiser une ligne de recherche... C'est bien tout ce monde, mais la ça aurait pu être dramatique. L'organisation est catastrophique. La moitié des gens ne cherchent pas, plantent un bâton puis arrêtent, marchent sur la coulée... Ça fait peur à voir.

First skied Tignes in 1967 - was told first from the US to do so...made a lot of friends over the next 15 years...surprised about this-pisteurs there usually do a great job of avalanche prevention...and, of course, instructors and first responders always whore the best gear\outfits...as in Ellesse...a lot different since the olympics...

Le jour ou les DVA et les sondes déployables seront obligatoires sa pourra sûrement sauver plus de vies
Aucun problème en 5/5 du moment qu'on reste sur les pistes ouvertes... Ici c'est surtout la responsabilité de la station qui devrait être mise en cause, c'est bien d'avoir des grands domaines mais il faut aussi les sécuriser convenablement et pas qu'une piste hautement fréquentée s'expose à la première coulée venue. C'est en hors piste? Si non c'est casiment jamais arrivé qu'il y ait des avalanches/chutes de neige sur des pistes car elles doivent être un minimum préparées!(ils foutent de la dinamite sur les flancs de montagnes important autour et sondent la zone (1 ou 2 km autour) avec de puissant radar! Si c'était du hors piste on peut rien faire on est pas censé être en dehors de piste

Tu plantes pas un baton de ski a travers une personne avec un anorak comme ça. Puis c est pas aiguisé comme un rasoir non plus donc dans de la poudresue tu sent tt de suite si il y a quelque chose un peu comme planter une sardine de tente qui recontrerai une racine.

every population has good or bad people, I think americans tend to criticise themselves a lot on the internet, but don't worry we are stupid and bad too sometimes ^^

Holy crap this is a pisted run too. Where do you start? Very few if any would’ve had beacons or avalanche bags on. So sad. Did many people die? I think the skiers should’ve broken off the stops on the base of their poles, with those on they’re not going to probe deep enough.

You can see that almost all of these skiers are inexperienced hence the large groups, and won't really know what to do in an avalanche situation. Also likely a lot were not french, may have been communication barriers.
ViWiL moi aussi sur une piste noire il y avait un vent glacial qui avait gelé une plaque de poudreuse et je suis passé elle s’est décroché , jamais elle n’aurait pu me tuer ou quoi que ce soit mais sur le coup j’ai eu très peur et ai piqué une belle ligne droite mais alors là le moment de stress , aucune visibilité en plus
MESSAGE TO THE SKI RESORT ORGANIZERS In my opinion every skier should have obligatory training in such rescue or at least option if someone want to do. there should be online video combining best tips on how to behave in such a situation and link to such a video in welcoming pack in your house when you go skiing. You can see how unorganized everybody is in this video. How much wasted time there is done by those people. People would die from luck of oxygen by the time someone finely find someone. ...... If people went through such a course they would know to quickly form a lines on both sides of the heap of the snow and probe the snow moving arm by arm. They would now that every 20 seconds keep quite so there is more chances of hearing someone. ...... I also think that in places vulnerable to avalanches such probes( at least 100 pieces )should be available in the higher safer places so immediately someone can get them, share them as the ski poles are not very efficient. pozrdrowienia z Polski
I couldn't agree more. Blaming people is unfair they are not supposed to follow avalanche courses by themselves when they go skiing a week every other year. Basic information should be provided to them as a basis. More and more people do off-piste skiing, no matter how much it pisses me off, this is on the responsibility of the ski resort to teach them.
couldn't agree more - that was just absolute chaos and I do hope it was not a real scenario [ I can't read French] If it was, how sad , as I am sure many died due to the complete incompetence of those standing around doing shit all.....you have but minutes to find a buried friend - always carry peeps, a probe and a good shovel when in the backcountry skiing....also take a course and learn how to analyze the snowpack and learn what the danger signs are , what degree slopes are most likely to fail...etc
So the reason it was absolute chaos is because it actually happened on piste. This was not off piste or away from the slopes. People who go out skiing for one week a year don't tend to go for off piste jollies. This is why nobody or very little people had transcievers or probes. The avalanche came down off a face and travelled quite a bit to hit the piste which came across it at around knee-thigh deep. Nobody was killed or missing during this and it's the first time that this has happened on that piste and from that face.
