Avalanche survivor says ‘no doubt’ he thought he would die

Snowboarder Jason Parker fought for survival when the snow seemed to turn into a river of white around him. A winter storm brought heavy snow to the Sierras and caused an avalanche at Palisades Tahoe resort, where Parker was making his way down the slopes. NBC News’ Maggie Vespa has more on his incredible rescue.

I’m so sad for the families but 1 death and one injured. It was a miracle I just wish it was a complete miracle 😢😢😢

Washington state does avalanche control on Snoqualmie Pass. They shut down I-90 and shoot off mortars to trigger avalanches. I understand people wanting to ski but someone should have been doing avalanche control prior to allowing visitors. If you aren't wearing an avalanche vest and PLB it can be very difficult to survive such an incident. The vests puff up and create and air pocket and the PLB is so they can find you and dig you out.
