The Metal Opera I & II are actual stories Tobias wrote. The Gold editions of the albums have a 9 page story that goes with the songs and explains the story behind the song. This song covers the fist scene of ACT 2 and is written as: While Gabriel has been taken away from the battlefields around the tower, bringing back the seals, three clerics - pope, bishop and Jakob - cannot believe they have failed. The voice in the tower screams and swears and the three become afraid of 'God's' Wrath. During the following days, while being in Sesigh-bana Gabriel realizes more and more about what is going on and about the importance of what he's done. How much influence the dark force in the tower has on its unsuspecting servants, reaping souls of those who believe without calling anything in doubt; perhaps not intentionally but still...

The Metal Opera is the music album of the German metal project Avantasia and was released in 2001. It was initiated by Tobias Sammet, the singer of the power metal band Edguy. He also wrote all the songs and lyrics. I don't know if someone mentioned before, this album is featuring 11 singers from different bands. I think all 11 appear in this song, but I am not sure. Besides the singers also has 9 instrumentists. So yeah.. it's a masterpiece. 👏👏👏

After watching your reactions, I feel like listening to these albums all over again.

And just by Jesus Christ man, how we don't have more metal musicals is beyond me, Tob and his kin sure do make some great songs for it.

There is a really good version of this live at Waken 2017 and Tobias introduces the band and that part just shows his sense of humor.

If i remember correctly, Tobi said somewhere that The Metal opera Part 1 & 2 were inspired by The name of the rose by Umberto Eco and also Lord of the rings.
