Avanti West Coast launches the UK’s first fully wrapped Pride train staffed by all LGBTQ+ crew.
- First train in the UK to be fully wrapped in the progressive pride flag - 11 carriages, 265 metres long
- First train in the UK to be fully operated by an LGBTQ+ crew
- The Pride train will run all year round, celebrating the diversity of the communities it serves

Some may roll their eyes and think "Isn't this a little exaggerated?". But as a gay man who has experienced discrimination and bullying when I grew up I can assure you that these wonderful gestures make a huge difference. Such moments give LGBT people and their straight allies the feeling of having WON the battle over bigotry. This feeling of "victory" is so encouraging and so important. I am also greatful that they didn't use an outdated, ugly old diesel train but Britain's only tilting high speed train, a wonder of modern engineering and a reason to be PROUD in its own right. 👍👍👍

At both points it powered through Watford I was stood on platform 7 waiting for my 09:15 set down to dispatch and I have to say it looks amazing, the bold colours really do pop in the sun.

I personally think its wrong to paint any public transportation to promote Any form of Sexuality or Political Statement . Not everyone who uses their trains approve of Promoting Homosexuality . Some people will find it offensive . Avanti should remain Neutral .. no Im not Homophobic

If you’re happy and secure with your own sexuality, why would this bother you? I don’t get it. I’m not sure that an all LGBTQ crew is necessary for it. As someone here has already said, it should be purely based on ability, although I’m sure the entire crew is qualified.

This beats the VT one by a long shot, AWC Your team did an amazing job on this, I mean is beautiful. I was wondering if you'd do one at all but even if it's a few months late I do not care, LGBTQ+ should be respected throughout time. Let's just hope it doesn't get vandalised. If it does I hope to god it gets cleaned. Brill job railcam and AWC

Enjoy YourDay sad that it isn’t 100% positive.. IMO I actually think the all coach pride livery is the best that AWC can do since the actual Avanti livery would make it hard to pull of a pride livery that the other rail companies have done..

@Dan Didnot Of course pedophilia is fucking vile and should be stamped out no matter who the perpetrator is, but you cannot seriously be suggesting that this is proof of the 'oppression' of straight people - especially given how many heterosexual offenders there have been. The fact remains that in many countries people can still be killed simply for being gay, whereas straight people are not forbidden by law in any country. Nobody is saying that straight people don't experience any form of hardship at all, but they do not experience hardship just on the basis of them being straight alone.

It is not homophobia or bigotry for a person who has deeply held religious beliefs to explain in a non judgemental and sensitive way what he or she believes and what their religion teaches about sexual matters. Those who expect others to respect their sexuality and sexual beliefs should show similar respect to those people who do not share their sexuality or point of view.

Ah yes, forgetting of course that Manchester Pride was supposed to be this weekend and one of the charities involved in this project was the LGBT Foundation on Canal Street in Manchester. I would suggest also going onto the Avanti website and checking out why it was done for.

Square Peg Round Hole You’ve not given me any indication so far. If it’s the video, I can’t exactly see what’s wrong with it. If it’s the train itself, well it was built 20 years ago and this is the design Avanti have gone for. If it’s what it represents, then you honestly just need to accept it, as it’s the existence of people like you which is why Pride is still such an important event, as people around the world in all countries are still discriminated against based on nothing but their sexual orientation or gender identity.
