@@yerviniansamvel Alterneative opening scene on Earth, the visit to Grace's Old Schoolhouse and a Sturmbeest hunt. Plus many more new scenes, or extensions of existing ones. If you haven't seen this, you're either not paying attention or you've never seen the extended cut.
Now imagine, sitting in the theatre in 2009, watching a 3D movie for the very fist time. It was mind-blowing. Just epic! Just saw the sequel last weekend in an IMAX cinema. It was superb!!! What a ride ...
It wasn't the first 3D movie by a LONG shot, its biggest influence was its CGI and motion capture, which were YEARS ahead of even the best filmmakers at the time. Even now, with hindsight, I can't name a better movie executed visually within two years on either side of it.
y'all need to watch the sequel in theatre, it was one hell of an experience edit : i know they said they already did it, just so you all know that i commented this before the video aired.
Nominated for 9 Oscars including Best Picture but won Best Production Design Best Cinematography Best Visual Effects. It's still the highest grossing movie of all time, $2.9 billion dollars!
@@travisfoster1071 Genuinely hilarious that you think it didnt deserve best visual effects, doesnt matter anyway it still got them and you'll never be able to change that lol.
the Navi are not avatars. they are their true selves. Avatar, is a concept within Hinduism that in Sanskrit literally means "descent". It signifies the material appearance or incarnation of a powerful deity, goddess or spirit on Earth. just as video game players 2D or 3D characters are their avatars... the genetically grown bodies are the avatars of for the humans who go about Pandora.
Yeah, that kept annoying me. They're employing the second definition (stemming from the original Sanskrit). Avatar: an icon or figure representing a particular person in video games, internet forums, etc.
The only thing I feel sorry for you is that you didn't watch it in a theatre in 3D; these are of those movies that actually benefits a lot from 3D. And this one's effects still holds up very well for being 2009. Guys, you're such a beautiful couple and I love your reactions. Greetings from Taiwan.
I'm glad you liked the second one enough to go back and watch this one! Must've been awesome to see everything come together and make sense, the way Jake became a Na'vi, Quaritch' backstory, all of it. Also great you watched the extended edition, there's so many scenes that just shouldn't have been cut! What I like most about Pandora is the way spirituality can be explained scientifically. Eywa is a goddess made up by the 'brain' of nerve-like connections all across the planet, how cool is that? The Na'vi bury their dead with a seed from the Tree of Souls, so the memories of the deceased become part of that root network. They really can hear their ancestors at the Tree of Voices. Neytiri's sister was among them. When the RDA bulldozed that grove, it was like Sylwanin, and lots of others, died a second time. I cannot wait to see more of Pandora. It's so great we're going to get another movie every two years now :D EDIT: Oh yeah and the very best thing is the root network isn't even completely fictional!! Trees on Earth can communicate through a network of fungi too, even sending eachother nutrients in a sort of bargaining system, recognizing their own offspring and nourishing them, and warning eachother about herbivores - some plants respond by making toxins ahead of time because others of their species are being eaten. So it all has a grain of biological truth to it and I love that so much. I watch these movies mainly for the way Pandora works, not the plot XD Although I also really love Na'vi culture and the characters that are being set up.
the extended version where they go to the school and talk about what happened and why they lost trust in humans is so good, people should check that out.
Shossanna kept referring to the Navi as Avatars That is ERRONEOUS!!! The race of indigenous people on Pandora are not called Avatars Lol The specimens that were spliced with human DNA so that the humans can use them to communicate and learn about the Navi are called…avatars Hope this clears it up!
@@XperT650 Yes- I could tell (from the very first reaction) but this was such an obvious blunder that she continued to commit time and time again- I had to say something!
to really appreciate this film it needs to be watched on the big screen i remember watching this at the theater and it was amazing Truly amazing probably one of the best CGI movies of all time...
True, I watched it at the cinema back in 2009 with my dad and some friend, and went to watch the second one at the cinema twice, the first time without 3D and the second time on 3D with dad for the nostalgia. It was incredible on the big screen, I should've gone to watch avatar when they brought it back at the cinema on 2022....
I haven't been to the theatre to see the second Avatar film yet, but your video reminded me of how utterly amazed I was back in the day when I went to see the first one. If anything else, the question we're all asked with these films is - how much do we want to protect the wonderful nature and ecosystems here on Earth ?
A top 50 film for me. Glad you enjoyed it. Still haven't seen the sequel and probably won't due to the story line that I've heard about. Perhaps on blu-ray in a few years.
It blows me away that people just get to these classics when a new version is coming. Seeing the sequel before the original is super confusing. Especially when you have a movie reaction channel.
i watched this when it came out and loved it made me sad when the humans destroyed the forest, but when I went to see the 2nd one I wasn't expecting the scene with humans chasing the the space whales that bit hit a very raw nerve for me and I couldn't stop crying from that point until half an hour after I got home ,so dont think I will be watching it again for a long while 😭
I first watched this after a spliff in a cinema in 3D with those funny glasses.i did not know what it was about and absolutely loved it.Those little floaty things appeared to be right beside you in your seat with the 3D. On the big screen with Dolby sound it was so amazing,I came back the next day and watched it again!
I love the quality of the CGI in this movie. The environment looks amazing, and the creatures are fantastic. My favorite creatures that weren't the Na'vi where the Ikran and Toruk. And I love the bioluminescent look of the Tree of Souls.
Great choice and reaction, but technical note: I have trouble finding a volume where the movie dialogue is clear but yours isn't way too loud. The two could afford to be closer, at least for my speaker setup.
Trust me when I tell you, the 2D of *this* movie is like getting only 40%. It’s unlike any other 3D movie you’ve ever watched. I first watched it in 2D and after some time I was convinced to watch it in 3D, although I thought it would be a waste of time, because, you know, I had already seen the movie? Imagine the shock I experienced… you’ll know what I mean if you’ve seen Avatar 2 in 3D.
36:25 😭😭😭😭when Jake ask aiwa to look throw her memories and to look at earth.that we killed the green and it’s a dying planet honestly it makes me tear up every time.”we kxlled our Mother Earth “…….
the director, James Cameron, Mr. Terminator himself, had to wait 15 years to make the first movie, so that the special effects technology could catch up with his dream!
Grew up watching it and love it from beginning to end also my parents took me to go see it when i was 7 and it was my first 3D movie and on Oct 14 of 2022 i took my family to go see the re release of it in 3D again and then on December 16 of 2022 i took my family to go see avatar 2 in 3D and we all loved it
People"" airwuotes" hate the ferngully copying and air and water messages in them and think they're (I hate this phrase to death) (* *gulp* ) Style and no substance. Which is all BULLSHITE! BOTH ARE STYLE AND SUBSTANCE!
@KashgariLet's talk about the elephant in the room. Avatar like every other movie coming out of Hollywood is pushing migration as if it's a great thing. It's not an invasion. We are wrong for objecting to being replaced in our own country
I think the first movie is so much better for the story, so much interesting and emotional. The second one is good, but after 13 years of waiting, I was hoping better. Sorry for all the one’s who’s prefer the second movie.
You guys keep referring to the aliens as avatars they are not. The blue alien race are known as the Na’vi, who I guess, realistically, are not the aliens do humans are, as it is their world. The avatars are the ones that are created in an artificial womb, whose DNA is made up of a mixture of human and Na’vi DNA. Did human consciousness is downloaded into this hybrids body and that’s what an avatar is.. what it’s kind a like when you create an avatar when you’re playing a computer game it’s a representation of you, but not you. Oh, where you had gods taken control of a body on earth, that would be an avatar. Simply put something you control That’s not you.
Its a shame that you didnt experience this epic masterpiece for the first time in IMAX 3D. After Titanic, Avatar is the greatest movie-going experience of my life. The Way of Water is a great experience and it gets better the more times you see it. But the first time you see Avatar in IMAX 3D is one of the most immersive, and phenomenal experiences youll ever have in a movie theater
At the end when Jake said it was his birthday I don’t think he was referring to his human/ earthly birthday I think he was talking about the transfer of his consciousness from his human form to his Navi form therefor making it kinda like his Navi birthday 😊💞
if u like this u will like uncharted avatar 2 homecoming (spider man ) far from home no way home and most importantly how to train you dragons 1 and how to train your dragon 2 and three the hidden world trust me
Avatar is a great movie it show how natives view there ways back then n respect everything. Seeing the colonies n soldiers destroy the forest is what they did in the past the same ways.
The only thing I feel bad for you guys is that you didnt get to see it in 3D... This movie was why 3D was invented so long ago. Imagine the opening scene when all the newcomers are floating around in the space shuttle. It's unreal.
