Its not the same level of detail and behavior but I actually like the Breath of the Wild and tears of the kingdom horsers unfortunaly they became useless after 10 minutes of gameplay
Imo they pushed the horses realistic behaviour too far, it can become annoying at times especially since its the only way to travel the map. Too much realism doesn't necesarily make the gameplay optimal
@@alexandre.m actually it makes more fun by making moments more chaotic, i remember a shootout that broke in Saint Denis and a horse that was parked with a carriage behind it got spooked by the gunshots and started to ran over every pedestrian on the sidewalk.
@@alexandre.m The horses aren’t that realistic. They’re just realistic enough to not feel like, as the original comment said, flesh vehicles. It’s the perfect blend of gameplay with realism, just like the rest of the game
@@brendanlove9739 the horses slowing down on bridges, running 20 miles away as soon as they see a little flame, and their low stamina is what annoys me the most. Still one of the best horse system out there, but I feel like they could have made a few things more enjoyable

Red dead 2 is now almost 6 years old, and it STILL rivals most aaa games with the amount of detail the developers put into the game. Read dead 2 was FAR ahead of its time. It's still one of my favorite games and probably will be for a long time. I started replaying it again just a couple of weeks ago and I'm still finding details I missed, and I'm STILL amazed at the details and graphics the game has. The story is phenomenal, and the voice acting is spot on. Still am amazing game.
to be fair, the avatar horse would almost certainly not be able to swim, with the breathing mechanism so low on the body the second its shoulder deep in water it has to hold its breath, unless it had evolved a semi-aquatic ability to hold its breath for an extremely long time ( unlikely considering where we see them at ) it would suffocate very fast!
I think there’s a pretty big gap between realism and gameplay with that one. While it makes sense that they’d drown really quickly and be unable to swim, it doesn’t exactly lend anything but annoyance to player experience. If it was a show or a movie, it makes sense. But since it’s a game, the balance between realism and player experience needs to be prioritized and that’s one of those details where experience needs to be the focus.
Yeah it's not even a contest. The ONLY thing Avatar has over RDR2 is textures, which if it didn't after 5 years it would be embarrassing. Even ray tracing can't compete with Red Dead's lighting system and volumetric fog and clouds, which anyone who's seen how a misty morning looks like in the game can attest to. And this is the difference between technology and attention to detail. Not to mention that every area of the map feels so different and unique, when you go through meadows vs forests and then the towns and cities. This is like comparing LOTR to Rings of Power.
The reason Rockstar games are always the best, even though RDR2 is compared with the newest games this year, still wins because Rockstar always embeds the latest technology in every game it makes.
@@tasteewheat393rdr2 that came in 2018 has these insane details. Showing that it was possible then. That means that games now should almost be real life. Games Devs are just lazy and that's why sequels always look like DLCS to the first

Yeah fr like, with all the information, studies, and things like that people still struggle to animate a horse properly. Only time it was done right was in RDR2.
Please keep in mind that this game is not set on earth. It is set in another planet called Pandora or something, so physics may vary. Now yall don't dare to call me a ubisoft fanboy, because I am a rockstar fanboy.
its ubisoft... they copy paste assets from one game to another... the avatar game is like a mod of far cry... wont be shocked if they just took a bike and replaced it with a horse
They put so much love and such an insane amount of work into all the intricate details in RDR2. Its an absolute disgrace that they just left the online version to die.

This is why I think rdr2 is the best free roam game in THE history of gaming. I have spent HOURS just walking and slow trotting on horseback ,hunting all sorts of animals while listening to awsome soothing country music on Spotify while playing the game. There was a great moment when on horse back ,just slowly walking up a hill with a nice chilled cinematic orchestra playing on my music list ,when I reached the top, the scenery opened out to the most amazing sunset and view. Just as the music burst into an epic ending. That bought a lump to my throat and if a game can have that effect on someone then they're definitely doing something right!. And I'm 50yrs old. Come on rockstar. Do a 3rd one. That'll be the biggest selling game of all time. Its just makes sense.
You're joking right??? Assassins creed is far superior to whatever this is. The new AC is probably the worst thing ever but the few before are untouchable.

I remember I was trying to collect herbs in Avatar and this alien horse approached me so I tamed it and rode it (I named it friend). Then when I needed to go somewhere far, I had to switch to my flying mount and tried to go to the next quest point. I looked back and see the horse still running after me. I felt sad so I went back down and tried looking for a way to bring it to the quest point with me by going around the mountains. As I was riding, I saw two herbivores getting attacked by a few of those alien leopards so I tried helping them. When the leopards scattered, they turned their attention towards me and attacked me and my horse. They tried attacking again but I rolled away. When the herbivores decided to leave us alone, I went to look for my horse but the next thing I saw when I looked to my right was it's corpse lying next to some flowers. So I got mad and looked for those two herbivores and hunted them down with my shotgun. When I found them, I emptied my mags on them out of anger. I went back to my friend horse's corpse and stayed there for a good 20 minutes saying my goodbyes. I made a custom mark on the map to know where my friend horse died so I can always come back to it.
Thats how the warriors rode them in the first movie and how archers on horseback do it irl, you don’t really need your hands on the mount for balance ^^
9:05 Are you seriously telling me that you are making a hunting video for RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 and you haven't made the animals suffer when they are shot and have to be sacrificed?
Well a lot of it isn’t gonna be the same, especially with horse taming. In avatar, the Na’vi are special natives that bond with life so taming a dire horse can be easier and they don’t see Na’vi as a threat(they’re also not actual horses- rather a whole different breed that resembles horses). While humans don’t do that and are naturally seen as danger to wild horses
I just wanna say the part where the Avatar arrows explode and disappear, there's actually a perk you unlock later that makes them stay and be reclaimable
For a game that takes place in three different wilderness types, I was hoping that the looting and hunting/ skinning animations would be more realistic, or animated at all.
I'm torn to say if this comparison is fair or not... For one side: RDR2 had an estimated $370 million to $540 million dollars to an estimated $120 to $200 million for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. However RDR2 was launched in 2018 while Avatar launched in 2023 Also RDR2 was developed by Rockstar while the "Live service era" Ubisoft developed Avatar... I think if we got Ubisoft from AC4/Origins era, maybe the game could have a much better quality (water effects in Origins are just a piece of art)
The horses are easy to tame in Avatar due to the bond? that was deadass explained that they were the easiest animals to create a bond with, and that’s why multiple different Na’vi can ride them
And? All the video said was that it is super easy to tame a horse. And that is objectively true. Why rush to its defense unless you internally think it needs defending.
“They are easy to bond with” is an excuse once you actually bond with them. Walking up to a wild animal when the wildlife does in fact still exist in a predator/prey relationship, should not be easy. Bonding with the wild animal and then being able to just walk it into water where it immediately dies, without any resistance, suggests the Na’avi are in fact parasitic in nature. The “bonding” must surely amount to dominion over the animal’s will & survival instinct. Thus a horse should be instinctively compelled to stomp out any Na’avi that it sees coming, as a matter of self-preservation
@@averycheesypotato did you not watch the movie? because they literally explain why they are easy to tame. The Na’vi connect their brain stems to them so their minds end up being one and the same so you learn to give them mental commands. Yes they shouldn’t die when they go into water I agree with that but in a game where your horse absolutely can die, and with a map that massive your horse shouldn’t have stamina that just takes the piss. And having to spam X constantly is so annoying
@@RathOfRey The connection has to be physically made. They link ponytails. Before that they’re just two different species, one being a hunter and the other a prey animal. You’d think the Na’avi would at least have to catch or lure the horse so they could get close enough to make that connection, but instead the player just holds their hands up and walks straight towards the horse. What is the explanation behind this? Why does this approach not work with other species on Pandora, if it is so effective?
@@averycheesypotato it only works on the dire horses because they’re non-hostile creatures. The banshees are very hostile naturally so therefore will put up a fight when you try to tame them
I don't know what stones you were looking at. But that's definitely not how it looks in RDR2. I'm playing and looking at them right now. Maybe change your settings.
I love how you strategize your moves throughout the gameplay! Your thought process is so clear, and it really helps viewers understand the game better. The way you break down your strategies and explain your decisions adds a layer of depth to the video that is incredibly valuable for both new and experienced players alike. Your insights not only make the gameplay more enjoyable but also serve as a great learning tool for those looking to improve their skills. Keep it up; your content is a treasure trove of knowledge!
The thing that stands out on avatar is the ability to seamlessly scale cliffs in first person without having a locked in animation. First game to ever do this.
Now before watching this video you should realize that the atmosphere and gravity of Pandora is different. So it shouldn't surprise you if effects in Avatar looks a bit "unnatural".

I think this video points out some interesting things. It brings to light what Ubisoft could have done differently with frontiers. I definitely think environmental factors like grass catching on fire and burning, and water having a more realistic effect to explosives would have been great improvements. A lot of the other things, though, I think it’s important to note that a game about the wild West made by rockstar and a game about another world of fantasy made by Ubisoft are definitely not going to line up when compared. One is referenced off of real life and historical events, the other only referencing movies and imagination. I think things like the horse versus a dire horse could be better represented with a horse versus an Ikran. In red dead, and in real life, your horse is not only your companion, but your mount for every day travel. The horses come in different breeds and colors, can be decorated and customized, and can be named and carry great importance to the rider. Though the dire horse is asimple mount, the Ikran is a mount with connection and companionship that would equate to the red dead horse. In contrast to the dire horse, the Ikran comes in multiple colors, can have various decorations and saddles, has a name and much more detailed, animations and idle animations. I think another point to note is you can’t make arrows in red dead 2 (at least not to my knowledge) you must buy them, and they will break overtime. I believe that this is why the pick up arrows feature exists. On the contrary in frontiers, you make arrows from sticks found around your environment. You do not have to buy them, you simply have to gather, and the plant to get them is common almost everywhere. In your scale tree, you can also unlock a feature to pick up your arrows from hunting. Neither is good or bad, just different depending on what game you’re playing. I also know for the hunting and gathering of animals, red dead is much more of a realistic depiction, but frontiers centers around Navi culture. This just being an appreciation for the creature and taking only what you need to let them return to Mother Nature. Red dead follows a much different mentality of “make use of everything” which is why there are more options for using a dead animal. Just my thoughts. I think both games are great in their respective categories. I would love to see rockstar make a fantasy game but who knows.
The whole "Thank you for these gifts" thing at 8:00 is supposed to be a respect for nature thing but that sort of thing always comes across as dickish to me. Like if somebody shanked me in an alleyway and stole my wallet, then bent down and went "Thank you for the gift of your money" that'd make me want to haunt his ass even harder.
Also got to remember that RDR2 is a 5 year old game as well and yet its by far keeping up with Avatar if not even better. Like look at the animation when you ride the horse in Avatar, your arms are stiff and its dropped down by your sides.
Not even really, this guys playing his rdr2 at low settings or just doesn’t have an up to date system because when you play rdr2 and use the in game camera to view your characters face you can see wrinkles, stubble, pores, blemishes, your characters iris is even highly detailed as well as the pupils dilating when the light changes. When you got a good system red dead still looks all around better than these new games.
@@FardeenKhan-we1ku relax dude he’s not gonna see you d riding and then give you a prize, the video was good he’s just probably playing on PC which is why it looks weird
I love when these comparisons are clearly people who didn’t even bother actually playing the game or reading skills. There’s a stronger arrow perk that will stop the arrow from breaking.
@@waffler-yz3gw not dumb when you’re making comparison videos lmao. Each game is better in their own way, but FOP beats RDR2 in mission freedom & has way faster traversal
Does anyone else miss Far Cry 2's fire physics? Its the only game where a bad placed molotov or fuel barrel could fuck up your entire approach on a outpost or base. Remember being surronded by an out of control wild fire numerous times. Oh the days!
When RDR2 first came out, I remember the complaints were how overworked the developers were and how long the wait was....It has clearly paid off especially after years of other newer games coming out. Hats off to Rockstar!
The idea of a direhorse drowning in water makes sense. They breathe through holes on their chest, if they are submerged underwater which they would be whilst swimming, they are going to drown. I suppose they could breath through their mouth, but who knows if that is possible for them, as daft as it sounds they may not be able to breath through their mouth
RDR2's biggest achievement was immersion, truly feeling like an outlaw in the late 1800s America. I'm not saying that Avatar doesn't achieve it but physics and details although were incredible in RDR2 it wasn't what made it special.
Ubisoft absolutely MASTERED fire physics, in Far Cry 2. The wildfires in that game were absolutely insane, and still haven't been matched by any modern game since.
A lot of the animations in RD2 are so long. It becomes very tedious and is one of the reasons I hardly do any hunting anymore. This also goes for most of the animations in the game. I appreciate devs not wasting my time.
Guys! Every time you compare games and animations, note the budgets and time of development. While the development time for both games are similar, the budget of avatar is twice lower than rdr2.
