Agreed. Beautiful visuals and affects, meh story and characters

​@@NDull. it felt more like a regular disney blockbuster compared to the first film. jake and his family (the water kids and almost all na'vi tbh) acted like some random people, had the same problems as people, maybe only neytiri still felt alien and spiritual. we don't see their connection to nature and their authenticity, we don't explore more about their traditions and way of living. instead we got a bunch of kids acting dumb and being saved by their parents. we see them learning the way of water, which was basically the repetition of the first film except it was in the water with different animals. the way they were taught also was weird, they are literally na'vi, you don't have to explain the basic stuff to them. I expected to be blown away by something epic and meaningful, but even the final battle was so much better in the first film. although i enjoyed jake fighting quaritch and overally it wasn't a completely awful film but...that's it. I wanted it to be some kind of out of body experience and it was just ok.

James said this film is only the beginning. It was to introduce new characters and new beginnings. Its normal to feel like it was lacking.
