From the first half of Hayley's performance at Beaumanor Hall, when it wasn't raining. The concert was for the Royal British Legion. Judge for yourself, but for me this is gorgeous!
So very pure :) She is a born singer.. not trained, not manicured, just natural and that is so rare and should be treasured. You can tell that singing is within her and so much part of her. Beautiful.
Hayley Westenra is one of the most gifted singers of our generation and successfully sings a wide range of genre in a style acceptable to the broadest range of audience - a feat few could achieve. Those who do not appreciate this are missing out - and it honestly is their loss.
Her vocal control is amazing. I've never seen a singer who can do anything with their at the drop of a hat. Even on the highest notes, she doesn't even look like she's trying.
For all that many of you have said, I'm not surprised that Hayley does not fit in the classical or opera mould. For one thing she never had the trainig that most classical singers have. She is not a graduate of any conservatoire or music school. She was grabbed off the street at 13 years old, having been spotted busking in Christchurch New Zealand. Some of us actually value the fact that she is different, not poured int a mould like so many others. Hayley is Hayley, she is unique. She does things her own way. There is no such thing after all as "correct" singing. It is all in the ear of the listener, you either like it or you don't. I rate Hayley as the finest female singer I have ever heard, and I'm not young. She can basically sing anything, classical, opera, musical theatre, pop, jazz, folk, country, you name it. She can even sit in an orchestra and play her voice like a musical instrument. She is a total vocal genius, not to be judged by the narrow prejudices of one particular genre. You either like her or you don't. Take it or leave it, but don't try to pretend that your taste is somehow superior. It is just different.
+Martin Dixon hei hallo i don't say that see is not a good singer but i just say it is not the same like jackie but maybe when see get in another place and sing that song again who know it is better it is possible that the place is not so good. so but a not main that the woman is a bad singer so i don't say a word of that .
+Daniel Claeys Jackie has a much more operatic style than Hayley. Hayley has never pretended to be operatic, in fact she has avoided operatic training. So the way she sings might not sound right to those who enjoy operatic singing. But you have to think wider, Hayley brings something new to those works. In my book she is the finest female singer I have ever heard. The concert was in the open air. In my experience my best recordings are made at open air concerts, where the acoustics of the building do not interfere. And this viseo is very popular, the most popular of the 40 videos of Hayley's performance on my channel. In fact in recent months, it gets more hits than all the others put together. There must be something about it that people like....
+Martin Dixon Well said Martin. You know I think highly of Hayley. Some "child prodigies" fade over time, but her voice has matured with constant, effective tweaking over the years. Now she is at the point where her vocal chords will soon stop changing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've heard that a woman's vocal chords develop until around the age 30 which Hayley is just a bit shy of. That doesn't mean she is through developing as an artist, though. :) Some of what you say reminds me of another wonderful vocalist who, of course, had a brief intersection with Hayley. Predictably, you know I'm going to mention Meav. lol Meav is another who can sing anything very well and with her own unique, blended style. She - like Hayley- also has an "instrumental " type voice like Hayley's. I have noticed, for example, that Meav's voice is pitched like a violin. My fave Celtic Woman duet remains Hayley and Meav's "Last Rose Of Summer" .
+Martin Dixon Well put Martin and I fully agree, despite, or perhaps because of being rather enthralled by Jackie I do not think any less of Hayley or of the many other singers I listen to, in many different genres. Each has their own style, strengths and weaknesses but all have a great gift for the rest of us to enjoy. In fact it was listening to Hayley that led me to Jackie. RU-vid is a wonderful asset, it has opened my eyes and ears to many singers and musicians that I would otherwise never have been aware of (Hayley included). Emptied my wallet buying all the CDs & DVDs too, but what better way to spend one's money and also help support these artists.
Well, I love Meav too, although I have never had the pleasure of hearing her sing live. "The Last Rose of Summer" was wonderful, the two best singers Celtic Woman ever had in my opinion.
Haley is one of my favorite female singers on this planet ! Her voice is so pure and full of feeling ! There are others that have come along such as Jackie Evancho and the amazing Amira Willighagen. These voices give us solace in a chaotic world !
She is absolutely beautiful. Her voice is amazing and she makes it look so easy! I hope to one day be able to sing as good at her. I thought i was a good singer, but after hearing her i was nothing compared to her amazing voice. Shes beautiful at singing and she beautiful on the outside. Wow... speechless

Ave Maria "by Vladimir Vavilov (1970) not by Caccini (1550-1618) The "Ave Maria" is by Vladimir Vavilov (1925-1973) a Russian guitarist, who had the frequent habit of attributing his own compositions to other composers, usually Renaissance or Baroque. This "Ave Maria" was composed in 1970 and published on an album titled "Music of lute of the XVI-XVII centuries" (Editorial "Melody"). He edited it without author In spite of the name of the disc, he himself composed almost all the songs recorded of the disc, attributing them to authors of the Baroque or Renaissance, except this "Ave Maria", that left it as anonymous. Then, a friend of his (Marcos Shakhin) who had participated in the recording of the album, attributed this "Ave Maria" to Caccini, following the custom of Vavilov himself. The interpretation of the soprano Irina Arkhipova in 1987, (with an arrangement of the organist Oleg Tanchgenko) made this Ave Maria achieve the fame and popularity that it now has and that Vavilov could not get to know (he died poor and of pancreatic cancer).
Wonderful! The music knows how to touch the heart's strings. It's the pure expression of soul, and goes beyond the politic and any order established. It's a vibration of the universe, in little, little range. It's the possibility for the human to be a note in the chord of the cosmos
The most beautiful vocal version by Caccini,I've been listening to this certain piece, for it's my wife's favorite, especially done with the Cello.I love this version of Tonality and the distinctive color of her voice and soul deliver.Belisima, muy bonita.
There are many ways you could express with this song. Fast or slow, quick, or like you mentioned "cold" and seemingly "emotion"-less. But all in all, they're all excellent, just depend on what your mood wants.
I forgot myself and devoted myself to the emotion . Her ethereal singing voice is effulgent . We are always with the Lord . Greeting from mysterious Japan . Which national are you seeing this video ?
