My Mother passed away from a drug overdose in 2009. I unfortunately was the one who found her. This was the last song I listened to with her. I was showing her some music the day before she passed. After she died I listened to this on repeat for mths balling my eyes out. It's Mother's day today...so I came here to listen to this song and remember her...and cry. I miss you Mom ❤

After losing my mom dad month apart I listened to this fucking constantly. Prob wasn’t a good idea and I’m grateful I didn’t go through with it. Now I have 3 kids and it’s been 14 years. I am now 31. Please hold on people, it WILL ALWAYS GET BETTER. No shame in asking for help. I’ll help anyone with this problem if you ask. And getting on meds is not a bad thing at all. You will feel like a completely different person after finding the right mix of medications. Love you all and keep up the honorable fight!

A7X is my metal roots and why my taste in music has developed into what it is. I am a childhood cancer survivor and my Make A Wish Foundation wish was to meet them which I did in 2006 and got to play Chapter 4 with them on stage during their sound check. I will forever be grateful of them and all that they've done for me (I have Synister fedora and Shadows' aviators) A7X for life!

Fun fact: this song is about suicide told from the perspective of the person committing suicide (which is why it has a sad tone to it). Part 2 is from the perspective of the angry/confused family and friends of the deceased one (hence, it's violent/angry tone). I heard that they made this song as a tribute to Justin Sane (former bass player for them) because he attempted suicide.

This song still brings tears to my eyes. When I heard that Jimmy had died, I burst in to tears. He's my idol, as a drummer who's been playing for 8 years he was my biggest influence, like ever. I've got a load of remembrance posters and Rev posters/A7X paintings on my walls in my room haha. I listened to this song like straight after, and just couldn't stop crying. I've been writing suicide letters ever since I was 10 years old. Had a few half assed attempts, too. I've never been fine in my life, never truly felt like I fit in or really belong here. The first time I heard this song I just cried my eyes out. It's all I've been thinking, but couldn't express on my own. It felt like somebody, out of nowhere, came and gave me the tightest, warmest hug. Like somebody told me, I understand, but actually meant it. Every time I feel the void inside consume me, I come back to this song, to be reminded of that feeling.

Ricardo Roman If I we’re you I’d try focusing on yourself and getting some counseling for it. We all grieve but just know there’s always benefits talking with a counselor about it. Get someone who specializes in that area. It’ll definitely help in the long run... that’s the only way you’ll get through it, is working on yourself.

Never lost a child but father to suicide and mother to many complications due to diabetes and had to pull the plug on her at the hospital and watch her take her last breath. Hope you’ve found some form of peace within yourself I havnt yet. Keep fighting the good fight!

Naturally since this song is about suicide the Rev pops into my head.. its a shame people think he was a drug addict.. cant imagine what it must have been like for him living with an enlarged heart and doctors telling him he wouldnt live to be 30... what a sad situation. Imagine how arguably the greatest metal drummer of all time would have progresses even further and how incredible of a drummer he would have become to this day... no question A7X would have been that much better with the Rev still alive. Dont get me wrong they are incredible to this day but if the Rev was still alive they would be top of the world.

Fiction is probably the only insight we'll get into jimmys reasons for opioid overdose and what I can gather from my research is this: Jimmy was born with an enlarged heart and doctors said he wouldn't live past 30 and obviously a death like that would be extremely painful so he overdosed on drugs and not a single part of this theory would work without fiction

Chris Franks songs are always open to interpretation as well as the bassist didn't die he was attempting suicide with i believe cough syrup its been awhile since i looked it up but matt walked in and they sent him to i believe a rehab and he got better but he wasnt the same so they all decided itd be best if he left the band, although that is why they wrote it im sure they would have no problem with someone taking a different message from it

one of their friends wrote the note before atempting to kill himself with cough syrup, they found it and one of the band members transcribed it into the first half, the second half is their rage at the guy, pretty much getting the emotion out the he has to stop, there is a reason to live. It is a song that will always stay dear to my heart.

This song helped me to get through a physically abusive relationship, which included a heavy addiction to opiates, alive. Whenever things got too bad, I'd listen to this on loop and cry until the suicidal thoughts passed. Once again, I find myself at the tail end of an abusive relationship. While I'm not worried about the suicidal thoughts anymore (they've gone from attempts to passively wishing I'd get hit by a bus or something), this is one of the songs that still helps me to get through the tougher times. To anyone struggling with anything to do with suicide or self harm, just know you are loved, you are valued and you are worth staying with us. Whatever you're going through will pass in time and things will get better. Keep faith in yourself and keep the music playing, even if the music is all you've got right now. I don't know you, but I love you. Stay strong 💚💙💜

My cousin committed suicide a few days ago. Avenged Sevenfold was one of her favorite bands, and she was the one who introduced me to them when I was a teenager. I now have the death bat tattooed on my back, which she was there for. She took me to my first concert: Avenged Sevenfold at Taste of Chaos. We both found out about The Rev's death at the same time and mourned together. This song reminds me of her. It helps me begin understand what she may have been thinking. Thank you, A7X, for writing such beautiful, meaningful music that is loved and cherished by so many.

This has always been such a heart-felt song for me, and it truly breaks my heart knowing that people won't listen to this based on some hipster review of the band as a whole. Beautifully written and executed.

This song holds so much importance in my teen life, hell this whole album does, came around at just the right time too. Around when my best friend/grandmother was taken at far too young of an age due to breast cancer the hardest thing about it was she was my rock and once she was gone I had to learn to deal with the shit I was getting at school alone among other life things. A7X's music certainly made dealing with it just a little bit easier and honestly don't know if I'd be here today if it weren't for them.
