I really like this song. This is one of the songs that has caused the most controversy among the band's fans. Many people will say that it is one of the worst songs of the band because of the use of auto tune or because the song has a lot of potential and it is wasted using that effect in the chorus. The song and the melody is very good and catchy. The guitar work is amazing. Obviously I prefer to hear his voice without any effects, but it's ok to do it in a song. The auto tune is really meant to bring something different to the vocal and I think it does that here. I think it fits well. This song is a clear example of how experimental and different this band is.
To me personally, the meaning of this song, is that "we" the human race are going round in sad circles, and for centuries haven't learned anything buy the stupidity of our ancestors. They had wars and many were killed. Nothing has changed. Only the way warfare if carried out may be with more tech than a wooden club, but the results are the same. Great song though. Super sonic guitars and drums. I was really grateful for Matt singing slower than the speed of light. I followed him with ease.
That is probably their most happy-sounding song, and after all these years, the auto-tune doesn't bother me at all, I like how they did not overuse it, but rather used it to compliment his voice. The part from the bridge until the end is in my opinion very beautiful, and one of the best parts in an A7X song :)
IMO, looking back years later on this song, it's like they perhaps were inspired by the one who started Auto-tuning, Cher. She does it in a similar way, subtle or slightly difficult to notice, and even at the last chorus, fluctuating it a bit to add some pizazz. It is a nice light formula when using it, compared to most pop songs that just drown their voices in that and compression lol. also, sorry for necro.
Avenged T-Painfold 🤣 That vocal effect was created using a device called a vocoder. Most Avenged Sevenfold songs integrate some degree of pitch correction, but this autotune is by far the most deliberate. The band wanted to bring pop appeal into a track for The White Album, and as far as I'm concerned, it worked out. It's bold, unique, and inimitable. A lot of metal elitists despise this song strictly because of the chorus. It's actually pretty funny. 😅 Lost is a simpler track lyrically than most. It's about how people have always used violence and manipulation to solve their problems when they don't generally benefit mankind. They should know it won't get them much further than the cycle they've been in for several millennia, yet make the same mistakes over and over again. The Stage elaborated on the same concept, some would say to a much greater effect. A7X have never played this song live because there are too many guitar parts on it to replicate. Syn and Zacky tracked essentially an orchestra for the intro. It's fortunate that no one requests it, because they'd need at least 2 more people on the axe.
It’s pretty divisive in the fanbase, but personally I love the use of autotune in the song. The autotune combined with a power metal style instrumental makes for something so unique and cool. I love how unafraid A7X is to experiment and try things other artists aren’t willing to. One of the best choruses in their whole discography. And that melodic singing bridge is so damn beautiful.
if you notice from the beginning of the song has not much autotune but by the end of the song it's all autotune... the main course says "we've all been lost most of this life" and "The end is knocking" as people we autotune most of our life and the closer we get to the end it's just noise.
Awesome. I'm going to look through the lists I have for a7x. I printed off their discography, and someone commented with ALL of the remaining songs by them, organized by album. I plan to do a livestream over on Patreon by the end of this month, during which I'll listen to an album straight through. :D :D :D
Yep, i'm late, first time on your channel~ I'm just gonna say... M. Shadows told long time ago about the song that, they just use the autotune literally "because it sounds sooo funny" lol they were trying new things... that even explain why they didn't overused in the whole song (the behind the scene of "Lost" song, that is where you can find info about this). Nice reaction! i'm subbing~
Too many guitar parts and the autotune during the chorus makes it virtually impossible to play live. This is unfortunately a song we will likely never see played live. On the bright side though A7X said that we might be getting Sidewinder live soon...
one of my favorites from that album! sadly they didn't even play it once live... pd:yeah they just abused the shit of autotune, not because matt can't sing (he obviously can)... just because they are avenged sevenfold and decided it was funny to make the voice sound fake hahahahaha.
The auto tune is the only thing I don't like about this song tbh. And I don't hate it, I just wish it hadn't been done. It would sound better with his voice normally.
