portnoy hasn't gotten the song perfetc yet, but what can you expect? even the rev didn't have it PERFECT on their first concert after the album was released. Because of how busy they all are, the first few concerts in the tour are practically dress rehearsals for them. They even jokingly said in an interview, "don't go to any of our concerts for the first year after the album comes out cause we always screw up the new songs" For Portnoy ALL the songs are new songs.
@CiTyOfEvIL9911 I'm not talking about fills and stuff. I mean like timing and queues and stuff. For example 1:02 he screws up a little. Nothing huge cause he realizes his error and fixes it. But it will take some time before he has it as good as the Rev did. but I have faith that he will get it. Mike Portnoy is an amazing drummer. Theres a reason he was one of the Rev's idols.
@AZRYNthebest man mike had like 2 days to rehearse the songs, and we are talking of a man that plays 20 minute songs with his band, and he plays them all perfectly, the best drummer in the world, even jimmy used to think that, but yeah is not the same, just give him a break
@cloudhoho think you might be reading a bit much into nothing. Unless you were watching a totally different video than I was. They didnt have much practice together before they played this show and most likely was looking back to make sure they hit the breaks and stuff together. I did not see any signs of drama or dislike.
@Tomaxzo Don't get me wrong, I think Portnoy is AMAZING. I was just pointing out that he didn't play it perfect. Didn't say it was his fault. I still think he's one of the best living drummers at the moment.
oh dear... I'm not gonna critique MP but...oh jeez... A lot of the songs are tuned down a full step now cuz Shadows is having trouble with the high notes. Man. He's still one fuckin beast of a singer, one of a kind. But he's getting a littttllllleeeee older. It's all good though. Props to them for EVEN TOURING when they lost their brother. foREVer
