It's more of Matt Sander's cringeworthy attempt at political commentary. A7x lyrics have never been great.

It's echoing the same message that has been echoed for a long time, the people behind the curtains show the world whatever they want the world to see to distract them It then goes off into a matter of and they are being controlled by a higher power. The 1%? A religion? Death? The Illuminati? The point is that we don't know who the puppet masters are. The lyrics echo this with stuff along the lines of "wake up". It feels like they are trying to endorse activism and to aspire to change tbh

I like all the music, but this showcases Syn's ability to play other forms of lead, other than just sweep picking the whole time, which gets a little repetitive after a while. I also loved the acoustic part in the middle and the spanish guitar at the end.

It was 1 song in a real similar style and A7X obviously are influenced greatly by Metallica (like almost every other metal band). More of a nod to Metallica than "ripping off". Not ironic at all.
