I really appreciate how Cristy actually pays attention and remembers details, names and faces from previous movies. I watch a bunch of reactors who are in phase 3 and 4 and still don't know the names of major characters, can't remember the names of planets or cities or even what happened in the previous film

3:20 That shot is meant to represent what is called a “splash page” in comics. Where a page in a comic book would usually have several smaller panels on page, a splash page is one epic shot covering the whole page, where the illustrator really pulls out the details and usually frames it as a hero shot. Many great splash pages over the years have been sold as wall posters by the different comic companies…that’s how good the artwork is on those pages in particular.

He's called The Vision for two reasons, as given in the movie: first, Ultron refers to him as his "Vision of the future", and second, when Thor comes back to charge him up, he says, "I've had a vision", and "the Stone will be safe with The Vision".

22:12 One of many scenes I love in this movie, perhaps the one I love most. Camera bulbs going off, a guy laid out with a wine stain on his chest, Peggy wearing a blood-red flower---it's a battlefield disguised as a party and everyone Steve knew is dying in it. He spent seventy years reliving a war in his sleep and now he probably stifles so much rage even Banner would be horrified if he let it loose.
@thatpatrickguy3446

Great reaction and great job recognizing the guy who refused to launch Project Insight, even with a gun pointed at the back of his head. I loved the early phases for having what might otherwise be considered disposable background characters as recurring characters to make it really feel like it's real world instead of just having background characters seen once and never again. We also got a lot of depth and backstory on characters here, especially Natasha and Clint. They are and have always been the Avenger Parents, and this is the first time we get to see that they actually have family, Clint with his brood and Nat with her role as Auntie Nat, and she obviously loves the Bartons too. Clint, as the Avenger Dad, really shows his strength in that role, not just by trying to keep the peace (as usual) between the difficult children that are the other Avengers (excluding Nat who is the Avenger Mom), but by recognizing and living up to the role. I like how his wife is totally on board with what he does too, and their depth and understanding is showcased in this movie: Laura: "I see you with the Avengers, and, well..." Clint: "You don't think they need me?" Laura: "Actually, I think they do." And his very dad-like exchange with Wanda in the final battle royale. No threats or demands, just a gut check and a bit of what they were facing that ended with "Stay in here, you're good, I'll send your brother to come find you. But if you step out that door, you are an Avenger." Just awesome. And the lighting in that scene, shadowy but with the light filtering in to illuminate one of his eyes, was just so well done. Jeremy Renner is a brilliant actor in my opinion. I hated seeing Pietro die, and his final line, the taunt he used on his now-friend Clint so often, "You didn't see that coming?" was just awesome and heartbreaking. Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch was such a brilliantly written and handled character through phases 2 and 3 of the MCU. She is quite possibly the single most powerful character in the MCU, but she wasn't made into a one-dimensional cheat code for easy wins. She was given a lot of depth, fears, and foibles that hold her in check. She was made to feel like a real person, and that made her character great. Elizabeth Olsen played her so very well too.

Captain America gets a lot of praise for his inspirational speeches. I agree that Hawkeye deserves credit for that terrific exchange in the midst of battle with Wanda; a girl he barely knew except for the fact that they had been enemies and her brother had been harassing him.

There was supposed to be a Black Widow movie by this point in phase 2, but it kept getting blocked by a Marvel Executive (Ike Perlmuter) So Natasha doesn't get her solo movie until way after Disney fired Perlmuter during phase 3. I understand that she wasn't even getting action figures at this phase because Perlmuter was even blocking her merchandise.

This is one of my favorite MCU movies, and really made me fall in love with Hawkeye as a character. It was very interesting back at the start of the year, hearing about the accident that he was involved in. He was injured by his own snow plow as he was driving it around to help clear the roads around where he lived. He'd gotten out to help someone get out of the car that they were trapped in, and the plow rolled into him. He's doing alright, but... just tell me that isn't the most Hawkeye accident possible? He really is the group's heart, and I love that for him... and them.

The Vision has always been a mainstay of the Avengers team in the comics. In this movie, recall Thor saying he had a "vision" in the pool relating to the mind stone, and Ultron sees the creation of the Cradle as his "vision" of his perfect, beautiful self. Just for thought, though, also recall Tony talks about having his "vision" of the future and the destruction of the Avengers, but in that vision there wasn't the Vision character. Do they relate? Hmmmm....

Your expressions were priceless 🎉 Wanda joining the Avengers is an important step in expanding the MCU because eventually they will add the X-Men to the MCU. In the original comic books, Wanda’s real father is Magneto. If they stick to that storyline, it will be an easy way to introduce mutants into the MCU.

Vision is a combination of Jarvis, Ultron and the Mind Stone combined to be something new. I like to think that because he sounds like Jarvis, he's probably a bit more Jarvis than Ultron and the Mind Stone is less a personality and more the capability for sentience and higher thought. And he's called Vision because Thor saw him in a vision and Ultron also called him "my vision." Fyi, he's one of my favorite Marvel superheroes since I was a kid (*ahem*) a LONG time ago. Him and Captain America and I'm so happy with how the MCU brought them both to life. Both of them have multiple times when I said, "Yep! THAT'S why I love them!" because it lines up exactly with how I envisioned them as a kid. One of my favorites is from "Captain America: The First Avenger" where I was so scared they were going to mess up the character (because he's so earnest and old school, it's hard to get him right), but when Steve said, "I don't wanna kill anyone. I don't like bullies. I don't care where they're from," I teared up in the theater and pointed and said, "THAT is Captain America."
@Caseytify
@Caseytify 7 месяцев назад
Your editor left out one of my favorite lines, when Steve sardonically asked Maria Hill "What kind of maniac lets a German scientist experiment on them to defend their county?" Even then he saw their side. A note about intellectual property (IP). Back in the 90s, Marvel sorely needed cash, and sold the IP rights to Spider-Man to Sony, which is why we haven't seen Spidey in an MCU movie. Ditto for Fox & the X-Men. Wanda & Pietro (originally mutant children of Magneto) were considered part of the X-Men domain. Marvel & Fox reached an agreement where Fox got Quicksilver, and Marvel got Wanda. That's the real reason Pietro died. Parenthetically, only Fox can use the term "mutant." That's why the MCU uses the term "enhanced." Since Disney purchased Fox, sooner or later we will see X-Men in the MCU. Tony has been suffering from PTSD since the New York invasion, which was highlighted in Iron Man 3. This continues to plague him, which I think he proved so vulnerable to Wanda's manipulation. His character arc has a way to go. Vision got his name from (I think) Thor's vision which brought him back to earth to bring Vision to life. ... There's actually an outtake where Chris Evans says "Avengers! ....Ahhh, gotcha." to the camera. So many people have waited for "Avengers Assemble!" since 2012.

Black Widow does get her own movie but waaaay late. The bosses at Marvel Enterainment didn’t think female characters sold toys. Same guy who didn’t think anyone would notice when Don Cheadle replaced Terrence Howard. So you won’t see a female or minority-led Marvel project until Marvel Studios is moved from under Marvel Entertainment and reported directly to Disney’s CEO. 9/10 Action-packed, dramatic and funny in all the right places. Avengers: The Age of Ultron is the sequel to the fourth highest grossing movie of all time. At the risk of over-hyping it any more, I can say it's probably the best Marvel movie to date. It manages to be action-packed, dramatic and even very funny in all the right places. After the Avengers lead a successful raid against a Hydra outpost, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) revives his secret peacekeeping program Ultron (voiced by James Spader) to help safeguard the planet from evil. However, Ultron interprets the idea of keeping Earth safe as a need to eradicate humankind from existence. Ultron shortly escapes from Stark's laboratory to act out its mission and it's up to the Avengers, along with their new allies, the twins Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) to stop Ultron from carrying out this genocidal act. Even though it is darker than the first film, Avengers: The Age of Ultron is still able to capture the charm and humour from its main characters that we have grown to love over the years. Tony Stark is still as witty as ever, delivering his trademark hilarious one-liners and Hawkeye's (Jeremy Renner) scenes have some of the most poignant moments in any Marvel film. But perhaps the biggest surprise were the twins Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, who played a much more important role than I thought they would. There's rarely a dull moment. I rate it 9/10, a bit higher than its predecessor, which I rated 8.5/10.

When Vision says he’s not Ultron or Jarvis, simply that I am. That reminds me of the story of God speaking to Moses. Supposedly he said “I am that I am”

Black Widow did eventually get her own movie, but VERY late... in Phase 4. And it's a story set in the past, back in Phase 3 (with flashbacks to her childhood and later training). She really should have gotten a solo movie before the Avengers team-up back in Phase 1 along with Thor, Iron Man and Captain America. But the business climate in Hollywood (and in particular at Marvel under Ike Perlmutter) didn't allow for it. Back in 2008, studio execs and financiers didn't believe female leads could succeed in comic book superhero movies. It took the surprising success of Wonder Woman in 2016 to change that opinion among the higher-ups, which opened the door for Captain Marvel and Black Widow to get their movies.

Yes black widow has her own movie, I really enjoyed it. Released in 2019 & I take extreme offense to comparing black widow & the hulk to beauty & the beast or whatever tf it’s called

I think my biggest issue with this movie was how its trailers built it up and it ended up being somewhat unlike the trailer. Ultron wasn't what I expected, and not as dangerous as the trailers suggested. I found that distracting. Ultron never said, "Hope... I think I'll take that from them first."

Black Widow aka Natasha Romanoff was suggested as a solo movie by the boss of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige around this time of phase 2 but was denied by his boss at the time, Ike Perlmutter, who claims that boys don't wanna buy toys with female heroes. That's the reason why she didn't get her movie until much much later. Sometime during phase 3 Feige got free reign (Perlmutter was removed as the boss of Feige by Disney) to do a Black Widow movie but the schedule simply couldn't fit one in.

Hey! I am Icelandic, and I know quite a bit about Norse history and mythology. This might not be interesting at all to you, but you do not have to be worthy to lift Mjöllnir at all in reality. In real mythology, it is quite literally just very heavy. Anybody could theoretically lift it or use it, but only Þórr is strong enough to use it. A few have moved or stolen it, but couldn't use it. Similarly, many people can lift a 100-pound sword in real life, but very few, if anybody, can actually use it. Another thing to note is that if anybody else could use it, they would not have the best accuracy or control and would basically be burnt to dust with how hot it gets due to its strength in hitting things. When he throws the hammer to crush the skulls of invading Jötunn, the hammer becomes red hot. Þórr needs special iron gloves, Járngreipr, to handle the red hot hammer without burning himself because the hammer was sabotaged during its creation, leading to its impractically shortened handle. Additionally, he also wears a special belt of power, Megingjörð, which greatly increases his already monstrous strength, to help him better use Mjöllnir. He has and can use it without the two other possessions, but they help him more accurately throw it and use it more efficiently. Together, his hammer, belt, and gloves make up his three most important and most prominent possessions. The only other god capable of using Mjöllnir is his son Magni, who is actually much stronger than his father, who was previously the strongest god. I don't believe it is ever mentioned how he can use it, meaning if he needs the gloves and belt or not, but I would imagine he does not need them. His father just used them for convenience and better control. If he did have them, he would be even more terrifying. Both his sons inherit his possessions after his death and aid the remaining gods in rebuilding a new world. Also, lifting the hammer means literally nothing. You do not rule anything if you can lift it. Some dwarves could lift it. Obviously, those who made it, Brokkr, Eitri, and Sindri. Loki and a few frost giants have also lifted or held Mjöllnir. Obviously, they were not able to wield it but still lift it.

1:27 "Speaking of Black Widow, does she get her own movie?" Oh. 😣 _There_ lies a tale of woe. They finally gave Natasha Romanoff an origin story, but it comes at about the _most_ tragic point in the canon. I'm not going to say more, though, because if you see it, you'll want to go in without too much idea what to expect, so no spoilers.

This was such a fun watch. I really enjoy your enthusiasm and energy. This one holds a special place in my heart. This was released in May of 2015, my son was 8 at the time, for Mothers Day that year we went and saw this in theaters, just the two of us. He is almost 17, but I can still see that little boy so excited in the theater as we watched this spectacle of superhero awesomeness. So many great moments in this one. I especially enjoy the friendship between Thor & Steve. 11:18 I love that Thor hands Steve a shot of his Asgardian beverage, while telling the veterans that it is not meant for mortal men. I guess Thor regards Steve as more than a mere mortal man. The low key respect is awesome. I love that you think Natasha would be worthy, I share this opinion. She does have a dark past and she has done some potentially terrible things. Loki mentions Dreykov’s daughter, a hospital fire, and São Paulo as if she did something bad there as well. He tells her that her ledger is gushing red, and that the horrors of her past deeds will always be apart of her no matter what heroic acts she performs. Despite all this, I think she would still be worthy, if for no other reason than that she doesn’t believe she is.

I note that never does get covered in any of the movies so far is that in the comics Black Widow is one of the 20 characters that can actually lift the hammer. Out of those 20 most are not from the Marvel universe and include ppl like Superman, Wonder Woman, and Optimus Prime, a lot of them being from cross over comic events over the last 50 years. I assume this is why they add the line in this movie "That's not a question I need answered." and they don't even have her attempt it.

Points often missed: - Clint Barton's baby video. His onesy had his name on it "Nathanial Pietro Barton". Nathanial for Natasha, and Pietro for Wanda's brother Pietro. - Thanos created & activated the A.I. He was monitoring the entire thing through Ultron's perspective. Loki was plan A for Thanos - Failed. Ultron was Plan B for Thanos - also Failed. That's when Thanon said "Fine, I'll do it myself" - NOT REALLY EXPLAINED IN THE MOVIE - Tony's Ultron network was based off of Tony's mental engrams. When the A.I. absorbed Tony's Ultron network it absorbed his engrams - hence the similar personality to Tony Stark.

Hey Cristy, I always looked forward to the animated Marvel Superheroes after school in the 1970s. Capt. America on Mondays. Namor the Submariner on Tuesdays. The Incredible Hulk on Wednesdays. The Mighty Thor on Thursdays and Ironman on Fridays. Illustrations from the pages of the actual comic books brought to life. Episodes where the threat was so huge The Avengers will make an appearance were always the best. Wanda the Scarlet Witch and her brother Quick Silver were with the Avengers from the beginning. I got chills seeing their origins in ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’. I was heartbroken when I saw Quick Silver die so early in this film, the same when Bucky died in the ‘Capt. America: The First Avenger”. Bucky had a lot of adventures with Cap in many episodes before he died. Quick Silver and Scarlet Witch were in all the episodes with the Avengers. The appearance of Vision also struck a chord. Vision, Loki, the Red Skull, Hydra, Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. were there from the beginning in many episodes, but I had forgotten! So WOW!!! My family did not approve of comics books, so I rarely bought one. I was allowed by the owner of the comic book store to read them in the store! For me, the animated series were like the Blockbuster movies we have today. I had high grades in school in Reading and English as Second Language. They had no idea it was because of comic books.

Hi Cristy!😊 The Avengers and Captain America films are definitely some of the strongest films in the MCU. Both Thor and Ultron refer to The Vision at different points. Thor says he had a vision about the mind stone. Ultron refers to him as My Vision when he meets him. You were right about the tech guy. He was the one that said "Captains Orders" in "The Winter Soldier" refusing to launch the ships. Great reactions to another great MCU film, Cristy!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏

Yes Natasha gets her own movie. Unfortunately you'll have to wait a while for it since it comes out after the latest Avengers movie. There was some internal politicking taking place at Marvel where a higher up thought a female led wouldn't do numbers. They left so they fit it in where they could.
